Sexuality is not a computer system, there are no rules. People change their sexuality all the time on this planet.

Thats kind of insulting to gays dont you think? If it were that simple you could just tell them to act straight

The Night Mammoth wrote...
Read the codex then.

Read it many times and Asari still reproduce via parthenogenesis

The Night Mammoth wrote...
Not that it matters. Whatever sex the asari are, it doesn't change the fact that clearly a femshep romancing Liara likes girls.

And thats fine for fem but not maleshep

The Night Mammoth wrote...
It's perfectly possible to play a Shepard who does not define his sexuality.

Because he wasnt planned to be gay. If he would have been you could have had the occasional flirt option at least.

The Night Mammoth wrote...
And that's bad because?

Because bad writing is bad and pandering is bad

Shepard suddenly turning gay and having sex with kaidan or that whiny pilot

Sometimes I'm embarrassed to even be a member of this board.

Why?

It was just pandering to the LBGT community. In ME2 Bioware Hudson and Muzyka even adressed the issue when asked why there are no gay romances. Then suddenly out of nowhere a established character turns bi and we get a whiny stereotype. Dont even get me started on miss i schlick to edis voice.

Why people who aren't LBG or T care that Kaidan is bisexual or that Cortez and Traynor were introduced I will never understand.

Maybe it is pandering. Does is affect you? I'm guessing no. So deal with it.

Oh god these kind of posters make me facepalm. Unless your Shep suddenly decides to sleep with him whatever you do, HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOU!? Do you imagine there was some hetro romance for your Shep that got cancelled so there could finally be a couple of male LIs for men?

And sure, when they made him bi they made him whiny too. Sure.

NO. They gave him a freaking assault rifle and an even tougher personality.

Actually yes. Our ME2 romances got cut down

Not really. what you said I'd imagine would be more insulting. You either are or you aren't? It doesn't change overnight? Please, that's far from reality. There are no rules.

Read it many times and Asari still reproduce via parthenogenesis

It also says that they're all female.

And that negatively affects you how?

No. You imply that sexuality can just change overnight. Thats insulting to those who fought for years to make people realize that they are born this way and cant  just change.

They have a distinctive female apperance. They look female to us but they are not.

When they cant even write a good gay character we get a plot like we saw in ME3

Isn't this whole business MrGMM88's pushing wildly off-topic anyway?

I originally interpreted

MrGMM88 wrote...

...as just standard-issue homophobia. But if it isn't actually that  then it's off-topic, since the thread's about mistakes by Shepard, not the devs.

Kill his entire squad in the suicide mission

Gotta disagree on the second one. At least a true suicide mission kills off the bulk of the Collectors. Shep still partially succeeds.

Watching the Arrival clock for to 00:00:00 is pretty damn epic, though.

It's definitely not the stupidest thing Shepard can say, but I absolutely hate the response to Liara saying the intel on Cerberus you gather on Eden Prime (in For Ashes) might help the resistance there. Shepard asks "how?"

Gee, Shepard, I don't know how giving the resistance info on Cerberus troop dispositions, movement, strategy and a mole (depending on which piece of information you pick up first) might help the resistance.

Can FailShep also include AwkwardShep? Some choice facepalm comments come to mind:

"the bed is harder than it looks." (to James)
"What? you're sick? are you contagious? how long do you have?" (to Thane)
"You have to EARN the right to ask me those kinds of questions" (to TIM's 'how are you feeling?')

Sorry dude, you have a right to dislike it but the intent underneath is not designed to further conversation so, reported...

The intent being that if you have gays have them from the start and dont change them in the last chapter.
The intent being that if you have gays dont make them look like stereotypes.

But since BSN has their heads so far up their asses things like that can only be taken as hate against gays when its a matter of good writing.

The badass guy with an assault rifle and can kill you with his mind is a gay stereotype? Seriously, WHEN does he whine?
And no-ones saying there shouldnt have been a s/s option for males from the start. But there WASNT and people who wanted one shouldnt get left out two games later because of that.

There's something about Raphael Sbarge's voice that causes some adolescent males to have irrational reactions. We saw the same phenomenon with KotOR. Don't ask me what it is.

"This isn't about strategy or tactics, it's about survival."

Shepard, you idiot, strategy and tactics is how we are going to survive this you moron! Oh right, we just charge things in this military with no regard for thinking.

That would explain the wave assault on Earth and the human wave charging the beam... seems Hackett took Shepard's suggestion to heart.

So? I'll say again, it doesn't negatively affect you, the story, or Kaidan as a character, so why do you care if it's bad writing and pandering?
Big woop, now he does. Why do you care?

He cares for the same reason changing Howard to Cheadle in Iron Man or Crusher to Pulaski to Crusher in Star Trek bugged so many people. It's not about the sexuality itself. It's about established character personalities and attributes. Retcons are never a good thing in the eyes of fans.

I have the feeling that you are so caught up in a crusade for homosexual rights that isn't here that you can't see what his true point is. He's established that he is in no way, shape, or form homophobic. This is not a sexuality issue. It's a canon issue, the same as if the Illusive Man suddenly started dating a Quarian. It just doesn't match established canon.

It's great to be culturally tolerant and to speak out on behalf of those who are marginalized. Overcompensating to the point of needlessly diverting threads is not.

I really didn't want to step into this off-topic discussion, but this is absolutely true. One of the problems with Deception, as I understand it, is that Hendel went from gay to straight; a retcon of a previously-established character.

Who is then given command of something he has no idea what it's capable of.

And I still want to know who the hell thought it was a good idea to have an ADMIRAL leading GROUND troops.

And where are all the CAIN's? We're dealing with destroyers and dinky grenade launchers just won't cut it.

Sitting on his ass doing nothing for the months between ME2 and ME3 when he knew the Reapers had reached the galaxy. And don't give me that "he was grounded" crap. It didn't stop him in ME1

Well this time it did. I won't blame Shep but the writers for this epic fail.

I don't see the problem there. TIM's known to have had relations with an asari Matriarch. Why not a quarian?

No, TIM had casual sex with a Matriach, not an established emotional relationship.  There's a significant difference.  TIM is too xenophobic to go through all the necessary hoops to get into a Quarian's drawers.

If that's all you have to say after everything I wrote, I think you're done here. You missed the point completely and are just trying to continue making strife.
