I'm new to the game and I'm playing a mage that will probably end up being largely CC and ranged DPS with a few buffs and heals thrown in.

So I'm killing my first groups of darkspawn and I'm having difficulty not attracting all the threat with my mage.  I have Alistar, Jory and the other dude in my party before the Joining so Alistar doesn't yet have Threaten or Taunt.  How do I not accumulate all the threat and still be effective with my Stonefist, Earthquake, Bolt and normal attacks?  Will it get significantly easier for me to avoid threat once Alistar gets Threaten/Taunt (and which one is more effective)?

I've read many posts about how many feel Blood Magic is a great mage specialization.  Without revealing too much in the way of spoilers, if I chose that as a specialization will I have problems either with keeping Alistar happy or with fighting other Templars at every turn?

Since you're the only one in your party doing AoE damage all enemies that arn't being attacked by you companions will go straight for you. This will get better later in the game, when your tank get's massive armor (which attracts more hate) and taunt. My sugestion is have Alistair get taunt as quickly as possible, it will make things a lot easier.

People generally don't react to you being a bloodmage. Alistiar will be a bit upset at first, but he quickly forgets all about it.
