OP =/= overused.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't kit nerfs due to overuse? I remember a dev saying something along those lines when the Demo was nerfed. Something about her being picked over other Engineers. Speaking of which, when was the last time you saw a Demo? I haven't seen one since that nerf, but I don't think it was that drastic.

Some are, but being OP can sometimes lead to overuse, but one is not indicitave of the other. They aren't intertwined as much as some people believe.

Other classes have superior offensive power than her. It's survivability that she mostly has on her side.

I think the movement speed bonus is the part they shouldn't nerf. In order for her to perform per standards of sniper infiltrators, she needs that, especially if the DR or shield regen is nerfed.

I think reducing the shield regen, or altering it in some way - perhaps not a constant hp/second, but in bursts every few seconds - would be effective, if not simple enough for a balance change.

Reducing the TC shotgun damage bonus might do a little for balancing her as well.

shes not exactly a white mage, if you follow my meaning.

While she's not a 'white mage', she's hardly the most powerful kit in the game.  There are many other kits with a similar amount of ability, medigel aside, and who are even more powerful.  The valkyrie is one, imho - but many people don't like her, anyway.  I don't see many people playing her.  People weren't screaming for her to be nerfed.

Valkyrie: A case study
Mine has: Annihilation field, which weakens armor, drains health, restores shields, increases damage to enemies in the radius around me, not to mention setting up automatic BE's on close enemies.   I don't even much have to aim.  She doesn't have to worry much about ammo.  I don't have to worry about AH using up grenades either.
My valkyrie also has tech armor, further increasing biotic damage output, and increasing DR by as much or more than what my AIU gets from health matrix.
She also has warp, further weakening armor, increasing weapon damage to targets hit by it, and also setting up AND detonating BE's.
However, she does not have auto-revive.

Making AIU toothless may 'balance' the game, but it won't improve the game, imho.  Balance does not equal fun.

She emphasizes a powerful playstyle.  If she is nerfed it's unlikely she will be a case ala Krysae.   It seems like if the 'majority' has their way she'll be nuked until she's toothless.  She should have cryoblast; she should have shotgun evo on her TC of at least 15 percent, if not 20 or 25.  She needs to have some ability that boosts her survivability, mainly for getting in/out of close quarters engagements.

Maybe it's just the auto-revive.  If so; yeah, get rid of it and see if I care.

So sick of thinking/reading about this now.

1.  ability to hide in the open?  check.

2.  significant damage potential?  check.

3.  minimum 22+ ops packs and 22+ medi-gels to begin the match and being able to replenish both at ammo dumps?  check.

player ability means nothing when it comes to character balance.

a bad kit in the hands of an expert doesn't all of a sudden make it OP.  the opposite is also true, regardless if the previous statement is true or not.  an OP kit in the hands of a bad player does not all of a sudden make it balanced.

"oh, my grandma who has never played this game before bled out with the aiu, therefore it is balanced,"  is the worst argument i've seen regarding her.

you throw 22+ ops packs and 22+ medi-gels to start a match and the ability to replenish at ammo dumps on any other kit in this game, then that kit becomes OP, how is she immune?

She may be op but the underpowered UR guns and numerous talon glitches are much more pressing issues.

It might seem like the argument's getting old, but we know Bioware takes the forum discussions into account when making balance decisions. Poor Bioware. Having to read all this stuff.

But, okay. Contributing to the discussion:- After playing more Gold with the AIU...I'm starting to think that for a reasonably experienced player...it's her speed and Snap Freeze that keep her alive, not Repair Matrix. Seriously. It's all about the soft cover and dancing around. At this point, I'm barely touching Repair Matrix.

So...Repair Matrix only really makes a difference to less-skilled players. They're the ones who need Repair Matrix. And they're the ones who'd really be hurt by any Repair Matrix nerf. Which isn't good. And hell, if you're a less-skilled player, you probably don't have much grenade capacity gear. I have a friend who doesn't have any +grenade gear at all.

Also, are AIUs really taking over higher difficulty? I've been using the AIU in my matches, but I've yet to see anyone else playing one. Seriously. Not a single one. I haven't seen any Talon Mercs either, admittedly. But then, we all know why people aren't playing the Talon.

I've been saying this since she released. What could be more safe and defensive than snap freezing while cloaked, and doing it through a wall.

Most pugs don't use anything well.

Free revives is a crutch. Do u think last/final stand in call of duty was fair? I mean they should at least make it so a teammate either have to revive you and u don't have a countdown to bleed out.. In its current state it's a crutch, and they only thing defeating it is lag if u ain't host.. Or highly incompetent player

This thread has many words and no pictures, but it looks like a good place to voice my AIU opinion. I don't get why BSN is exploding about this kit. Good players gonna player her good, bad players gonna play her bad - just like any other kit. I agree with you Stickman (I think).

I've only played her for a couple of matches. She's a good shotgun user, and I like Snap Freeze. I put 4 into RM and 4 into passive, and ran her similar to TGI. With full fitness and a great dodge, I didn't feel like I really needed RM so much, but I guess I'm a bit conservative, especially with new kits. The only "issue" I have when others (friends or pugs) play her is getting used to the distraction of not knowing if they RM'ed before they went down and determining whether or not it's safe for me to revive them at the same time. That kind of breaks my concentration a little.

Finally got to play her and here's my two cents about it.

She's really not more OP than all the other infiltrators. The only thing she has over all the other infiltrators is that she's more accessible to lower-skill players who will more often rely on Repair Matrix to stay alive, much like the Turian Ghost with Stimpacks. At higher levels of play, you stay alive by having situational awareness and killings things faster than the enemy can kill you, rather than depending solely on Repair Matrix. So in short, she's easier to use as a kit.

But overpowered? Not really. If you're talking about speed and debuffs, the Drell Assassin and the GI both can keep up. The Ghost is on par or has more survivability IMO. Snap freeze is not a bad CC, but certainly not like Arc Grenades on the QMI. SI gets the ability to strip shields and debuff.

this is a well-rounded view.

Strong kit? yes

Overpowered? no

purpose of balance is to prevent a single feature from being overused... which she isn't. lets find out in a few weeks whether people start exploiting her (my guess is, they wont)

Even if it was a crutch there is no point in nerfing something if its not being overused
