Yeah... seems my host chose now to go completely haywire... Engineers are working on it (using the repair beam on all the server equipment). I will alert you when it's back... Should be within an hour or two...

Imagines that the engineers are dealing with a bigger threat, Oculus.

Looking forward to reading the info.

Definitely an interesting read. Thanks for posting. :)

I have to say that, from a purely personal perspective, I do find having the highest possible shield/barrier regen time for my Asaris to be the difference between laying on the deck being no help to the team, and standing and contributing, simply because you can burn a lot of your barriers away with dodging while flinging powers. Hence I will generally go to at least rank 5 on fitness, even if it means one of my powers takes a bit of a knock in the process.

After all, all the super powers in the world are no use to you or your team if you're constantly examining the floor. Better to be up and about using them in a slightly reduced capacity, rather than pondering how good those maxed powers would be if only you could stand.

I can understand that approach, it is a reasonable position. Especially if you take some gear that further increases recharge speed.

You bring up a good point regarding asari barrier drain while dodging. Would certinaly help to refill faster.

Wow you are totally right about Quarians... It seems the female Quarians have Salarian-like health, while the male Quarians have human health +50... I wonder why they changes the Quarians health? Overpowered?

Actually they beefed up the shields of the male quarians who came after the females. Check the male engi and infiltrator vs the females and they have better shields, topping out over 1000.

The only quarian with human shields +50 at max fitness is the quarian marksman. They accidentally gave him human base shields at release and quarian fitness is slightly better than human fitness (thus the +50). Since fixing his base shields would have required a patch they instead gave the marksman better weapon damage passives to compensate.

Hmm you are right how annoying... so only a single quarian has 500/500 the rest all have 500/600 which puts them in the class with Salarians. I will update. I will also update for Cyclonic Modulator.

Actually just saw this thread.

Most of this is what great players have been advocating and trying to get across to people on higher difficulties. Good to see it actually presented in a well thought out way.

Fitness gives shields as well as health, and shield boosting gear and consumables work as a multiplier. It might be interesting to expand your analysis to take this into account.

Assumptions of entire bursts hitting players is not exactly a good metric, but then again it isn't like you are only ever facing a single enemy either.

Either way this is interesting to see laid out.

Awesome read! Especially for the damage chart, I've always wondered what the actual numbers are like. True about 100% enemy accuracy though, that isn't gonna happen, but even so the graph demonstrates how obscene the amount of enemy damage is compared to your shields. So, points-wise, ranks 3 or 4 (if you don't have anything better to do with your points) sure seem to be the best choices for medium-squishy classes. I'd say one conclusion we could draw is that the +10% gun damage from passive is rarely less effective than dumping those points into fitness.

I updated my post with some info about Cyclonic Modulator III.

Basically a +100% BASE shield boost will put almost every character at or above 1000 shields (except vorcha and drell). Meaning, even with 0 points in fitness, a Cyclonic III is a very good consumable to bring because it will allow you to withstand a Banshee ball, Prime Pulse and Phantom cannon without being shield-gated.

Sooo... It's a really awesome consumable!

At the request of kj, I have decided that this thread deserves to be recognised for its outstanding depth of knowledge and usefulness. You should all bask in the greatness of OP and convert to the ways of true fitness use. I'm not even trolling... or am I? TWIST! Or maybe I am unintentionally trolling you guys by making you believe that I am trolling you guys when I am in fact not intentionally trolling you guys. DOUBLE TWIST!

My god, this analysis you did really changed my perception on Fitness. I always felt I had to max it out to even dare to think about going to do Platinum. I don't know about going zero Fitness all of a sudden, but I might leave it at rank 3 or 4 more often.

Not bad.

Whether or not you actually invest in Fitness on a certain character has as much to do with their other powers as their base shields and bonuses though.

The Turians are a good example of this. In the link there is a blurb about not maxing Fitness on the T Soldier, but recommending maxing it on the Sentinel. Personally given the alternatives I think it is the other way around. On the Sentinel it makes more sense to me to split TA and Fitness into some sort of allotment dependent on how willing you are to use Cyclonics and cover, and the Soldier it makes sense to dump more points into Fitness since there is little point in maxing both CS and PM when your bread and butter power is Marksman.

As far as shield recharge bonuses, it is true that they don't affect shield gate, but they are nice to have. What they do allow is increased ability to take sporadic fire without getting shieldgated. This is pretty handy on some characters and some map / enemy combos.

Depends on the survivability of the kit, for example i have all my stim pack turians and most of my infiltrators without fitness since they have others means to stay alive
