Well this should be in the PC Technical Support Forum section but to answer your question the only mod that comes to mind in terms of better textures without any performance loss is the HDR Texture Set. Link below to check it out.

A) Should probably have put this in the PC tech support forum.

B) You need to tell us your computer specs - it's highly likely that your computer just isn't powerful enough.

C) Mods etc wouldn't increase the performance - about the only thing that would would be a low res texture pack, but people want better quality rather than less.

D) Register your game on this site :) - you can access more forums then.

So,you are telling me that there is just no way of increasing my performance?eh,anyhoo thanks StrikeSaber and Nwalya42 for your fast reply :P

b)i think its obvious that my computer cant completly handle the game, thus come the low performance at some places :) (i dont even expect my 1,6 ghz single core to handle the game to well:D)

c)i cant register my game since i havent buy it,i just got the dvds from a friend and installed the game,God bless gamecopyworld,i can play the game without asking for the dvd.

You might not want to mention gamecopyworld on the forums. There is a rule here about not mentioning pirated material. Based on what you said, I guess your PC is too weak to play this game in general.

EDIT: You can mention pirates but don't discuss or mention pirate sites though.

Lol. Well, I'm sure Bioware is going to do everything possible to help your freeloading pirate ass improving the performance...

Four years ago, when TES4: Oblivion was brand new, it was the first game to use shaders extensively.  They were the SM2 pixel shaders, from the early version of Dx9, but a Dx8 video card couldn't run the game.  There were a great many very vocal whiners on the Bethsoft forums complaining about their too-old and too-defective video hardware.

At that time, the Geforce FXes were only two and a half years old, and not everyone had reconciled to the fact that nVIDIA had defrauded its customers about Dx9 versus the FX cards' independent pixel shader engine.  It simply didn't have the guts for high levels of shader code.  Even the Highest, high end FX 5950 Ultra, that had sold with an MSRP of about $400, could do no better than 18-20 FPS in Oblivion.

OldBlivion replaced the game's launcher, and when it handled the game, switched out the Dx9 textures in favor of some Dx8 textures, which allowed the FXes, from the 5700 Ultra upward, to play that game reasonably well.  Ever since then, the gaming community has seen a renewed interest in something similar for whatever is the latest new game.

Creating new texture sets from scratch apparently isn't a trivial exercise.  Nothing similar to OldBlivion has ever been successfully created for any other game that I know about.  In fact, it is much more common for the enthusiasts who have the skills to create and / or develop changed image quality add-ons to go the other way, and make mods that add further complexity, not simplifying anything at all.

Since Oblivion itself remains popular, there is still some activity on the Old Blivion web site.  After the initial setup for the FXes was ready, gamers with GF4 cards, and Radeon 8500 cards both benefitted as well.  But the low end FXes, and the Radeon 9200 / 9250 were just too slow.  In the four years that have passed, with the experience that the Oblivion Modding Community has gained, there have been ten to a dozen mods that do enhance performance of that game with low quality hardware.

In time, perhaps that will happen once again, but the place(s) to be asking is (are) the Toolset's own forum(s).

@Gorath - we all know your hatred for the FX's. The problem is that his machine isn't powerful enough full stop. A 1.6Ghz single core is ancient - even my old laptop has a 1.8.

You conveniently missed the bit saying "owner of the Original Game CD/DVD".

Meph144, no offense but didn't you say you used your friend's copy and then used GameCopyWorld? I don't think you even complied to GameCopyWorld's own rules. Nevertheless, most forums disapprove of one mentioning GameCopyWorld.

Tsk! Brave on heh! Anyway there are other ways possible without using the dvd and I'm using it right now. By the way Direct Download works fine, your serial number works with the ea download manager.

Well to be honest, I have done things like this in the past. Not like I am a saint or something but in context if mods comes around, you don't really want to be banned do you? :P

What you've described is piracy. End of the line.
