BTW your argument looks like you don't like to be interrupted in your "Happy Bioware Bashing."
From the outside of curse... :innocent:

Is this the part where we make passive aggressive comments to each other while using 'cute' emoticons to avoid appearing annoyed? I don't play that game. Stop arguing meaningless semantics because you have no real defense of the ending to offer. If you like it, that's fantastic, I wish I did too. Don't run amok on the forums like a jilted child; however, just because the majority doesn't agree with you.

It's, from my point of view, not entirely clear which one of us "run amok on the forums like a jilted child"

You responded to a statement that could very easily be assumed to reflect the opinion of the majority, especially given the hard data we've got on the subject from dozens of polls. People do this all the time, referring to "we" or "us" when they're obviously not speaking for 100% of the people in question. Your argument was and still is pointless semantics.

For instance; I could say "people prefer not to be tortured" and it would be a pretty safe assumption for the vast majority, but there are still sadists out there.

lol...ORLY?

because hard numbers are on my side. EVERY poll both internal and external after EC showed people are still not happy with it. Where are your numbers? Oh right, in Bioware's hands and they refuse to release them.I may not speak for everyone but when I say number are on my side I am telling the truth and I also bet I have more NG+ playthroughs than you. Just because I condemn the decisions of few people on the BW staff that does not mean I happily bash all of Bioware, only those people who treated us poorly

Plenty of movies and TV shows scramble the order of events every now and then. Considering Mass Effect was always a soap opera in space, I'd say it's quite fitting.

Usually there's some breathing room for you to process the information and put things together, but it's just not there with the EC. Everything happens so quickly that I was left a bit stupified, especially coming off the heels of that chat with starbrat.

I disagree. In fact I think some of the segments dragged out longer than it should have.

But ofcourse, it's subjective. I think most people can clearly understand the intention of plaque not being put up + breath scene.

Yeah, I definitely got the clue, but too many unanswered questions were left spinning in my brain to appreciate it. I'm fairly certain that everybody got the idea that shepard was alive, but that doesn't mean the scene makes much sense on a logical level.

My interpretation?

It's faulty writing, that's all.

It's virtually impossible to integrate the breath-scene into the EC in a meaningful fashion. Why? See here:
No matter where you place the breath-scene in the chronology, it always fails to add up.

If Shepard re-gains consciousness BEFORE the memorial scene, then it makes no sense for the crew to even consider putting up her plaque: I seriously doubt that any of Shep's friends would be willing to consider the commander deceased without some DEFINITE and incontrovertible proof, especially after she came back from the dead in ME2.
I suppose you could argue that the breathing-scene teaser does not necessarily mean Shep survives - but then it makes no sense for the LI not to put up the plaque, and for the breath scene to be shown at the very end.

So, option two: everything's shown in chronological order, and the breathing-scene takes place AFTER the Normandy departs paradise planet.
That'd mean that nobody's been looking for survivors aboard the Citadel, and that Shepard has been buried under rubble for days, if not weeks, without anybody bothering to patch her up.

Conclusion: it's just one of the many failures of the EC. They kept previous material in there, but it does not really integrate into the re-vamped version.

Or option 3: it's not in chronological order. This seems more likely considering the epilogue came before both the memorial plaque and breath scene. If they can't definitively tell if Shepard is dead or alive during the memorial plaque then it could mean that Shepard is up and about without the immediate notice of the rescue team.

Yep.
It's not in chronological order. You guys ever see Flash Gordon from 1980? Queen sound track? Awesome clothing? Silly? Uber colorful with psychodelic skies? Super fun? Ring any bells?
Check out the last scene after Ming gets defeated. There are a BUNCH of movies that have the last bit out of chronological order. Even the end of that crappy Wolverine movie does it. The Blob does it......... come on folks.
It's a shout out to them (and way more). ME is a huge hodge podge of good and bad sci fi movie shout outs. There's an interview with Casey Hudson where he talks about it.

Not all polls. There was one posted on FB right after the EC hit and it got OUTSTANDING praise. I thought that was a good one because I personally know a bunch of folks who have played and loved ME3 who do not come to video game boards evah but are on FB. So at least from my experience the less video gamey sites seem to have the folks I know actually vote.
Also, if you look even on the BSN the numbers are pretty split. Yes there are more threads unhappy about the ending but the same posters post to them over and over. Seriously, go back through and count.

Hmm... well - we'll have to wait and see them. I'm pretty sure there's a fourth ending, but I was only tangentially involved in a lot of those discussions - so I'm not 100% sure about it :).

(maybe it got cut for some reason and I didn't hear about it?)

I don't want to get people's hopes up is all.

I know Preston and Casey wanted a "happy" ending... and the NG+ thing does ring a few bells... I'll poke Preston tomorrow and ask.

And

The 4th one that was being talked about was a happier ending where Shepard lives, everything was going to be relatively positive. No messianic sacrifice stuff, but again... I'm not really in the know. So I wouldn't take that to the bank :).

I'll ask tomorrow and get a real answer

And finally

So yeah, there's a secret Shepard lives ending - it's not super happy though. It's more like a movie trailer thing where it hints at a sequel (there is no sequel, afaik - I'm just using it to illustrate the type of cinematic).

my headcanon interpretation:

The Normandy crashes because the death of EDI really fouls up all the systems she was integrated in to, which by that point is all of them. Communications with the rest of the fleet are sketchy, but they do manage to make initial contact, where they learn that the reapers are dead, search teams have found the control room and Anderson's body, no sign of Shepard, but the whole area is destroyed so he is presumed KIA. Shepard's been blown somewhere else but survived, so eventually he'll be found but due to the communications issues the Normandy won't know right away.

So while they're fixing up the Normandy they also decide to add the names to the wall... but then in a moment of touchy-feely goodness, the LI decides not to give up on Shepard yet. For me it's Ash and I think it's rather fitting because she's a religious person who described Shepard's first resurrection as a miracle, so she's decided to hold out for another one.

It stands for Mass Effect 3 Happy Ending Mod, and it lets you play the game start to finish without ever having to step foot in the technicolour chamber of death. It also even has a reunion scene...

Only available on PC so far. I'd include a link but I'm hella tired, I'm sure someone will though :)

There's a link in my sig.  check it out and prepare to be amazed.

This is going to sound totally weird...... in fact, I remember when Inception came out there was this debate as to whether the main guy dude was still in a dream and one friend was pro-still-in-a-dream and the other wasn't. What dawned on me was that both sides had valid in-movie clues as to why they were on the side they were on.

The fact was it was both. The answer is both in this case too. Some people really hate that type of story ending but personally I like it.

that is because the spin top is not his totem, his wedding ring is, as he does not have it in the final scene he is not in a dream

Michael Cain also confirmed it was not a dream

While I really think clevernoob is a smart guy, that guy TOTALLY HATES everything about the ending of ME3. I appreciate he collected all that info and put it into a video but remeber that that guy is collecting data to back up his feelings on the matter. I would take it with a grain of salt.
