Also, I hope I won't see Tallis. I didn't like her one bit, her DLC was awesome but she sucked.

Really? I thought the companions were personally the highlight of the game. In fact interacting with them was what made the whole experience bearable for me.krul2k wrote...
lol am i only one who doesnt want to see a da2 companion ever again, loved the game but the companions sheeesh
lol yeah really
Fenris - never gets recruited ever anymore, as soon as he talks i want to stab him in the eye he annoys mer that much
Anders - Annoying Annoying Annoying Annoying, i mostly get rid of him in act 2 or sta bhim in the eye in act 3
Varric - I cant pinpoint it, one minute i think im wrong an im like ach your ok then the next im like ouch bugger of
Sebastian - maker maker maker maker elthina elthina make maker maker, ohh stfu stab in the eye
Isabela - errr, mmmmm, errr, mmmmmmm ok i like her
merrill - dear lovely merrill, mostly i dont know if i wannae strangle her or hug her an marry her, might be based on my desire to wipe all elfs of thedas though, never known a word in a game to grate on my nerves soo damn much like "shem" does
couldnt stand zevran in DAO either though, he always got his throat slit without a word being said
theres things i dislike in all my games, jut so happens that in da2 most of my dislikes seem to be the companions, i dont mind though they need to cater for alot of different tastes just happens not many of them were mine, but DAO gave me more than enough in that department when it came to companions i do like

But we'll probably just end up with plot-armored Leliana.

Fine, whatever man. If you think the companions of DA2 weren't worth the trouble, that's your loss.krul2k wrote...

And it seems some people are confused by the purpose of this thread. To clarify, I didn't ask which former companions you'd like to see in the next game. I asked which of your former companions you think may play a big role in the plot for DA3.

Not because I disliked them, but because it would inevitably cause comparisons between the "old" and "new" versions. That can't possibly end well

Characters I'd rather not see again: Wynne (she should be dead by now), Isabella, Fenris, Sten.

Probably Leliana and Morigan.horacethegrey wrote...

Why? Being the legitimate heir to Starkhaven, he's linked to a major political power in the Free Marches. He's also affiliated with the Chantry, which makes his position as a potential power conduit even more important.
How? He didn't die in Dragon Age 2, in fact he was one of the few companions that was wearing Plot-Armour thicker than that of an armour plated wyvern.
But... Yes, he might not fit within the story of Dragon Age Inquisition - Accepted fact. Though I have no doubt Sebastian will inevitably appear again, the political ramifications of his existence might not become relevant until a later date.
Still, I would like to see Sebastian again at some point - Antagonist, Major NPC, Companion. I don't care. I just want to see his story through to it's thrilling conclusion.

Morrigan (or her baby) +40: Where is she ? I prefer Morrigan thousand times than Flemeth, oh dear who has imagine such a lovely desirable nasty wild witch?
Shale/Sten +10: Shale was funny.
Hope i'll never see Leliana face again.
Zevran why not.
Wynne must be dead by now
Ogrehn sure is funny but i prefer thinking he is having fun somewhere.
in DA2...
Aveline and her husband +1000:
Don't wanna hear about the others at all...

I want my companion to run into him a tavern where he fondly talks about "His friends"
Carver: He could talk about Hawke or do a Warden quest
I'd love to see Alistair and Zevran and Morrigan from the first game

So: Morrigan, Shale & Sten - FAIR GAME.
From DA2 I'd certainly like to see cameos from all characters that can be reasonably included without being out of place, plot-wise. Anders seems the most likely to rear his head, if alive.

I'd like to see just about everyone, I enjoyed every companion. (Yes, I'm weird, I actually liked all of the characters for different reasons.)

From DA:O, I'd love to see Oghren, Shale, and Loghain (if they all lived through it). That being said I don't think any of them will have a major role if they do show up at all.
The only characters that I feel will have a major impact are Morrigan and Leliana. I believe they are the only two companions that cannot be killed by you or die some other way (could be wrong: you can stab her in With Hunt, I know but......). As others have mentioned, they wouldn't have brought Leliana back from the dead without a reason.
The only way I see Alistair having at least a somewhat big role would be if he remained a Grey Warden, and lived of course, otherwise whatever role he would have played on that front could be replaced by Stroud. If he's king or a drunk, then I don't expect to see much of him and if he died I really hope I never see him again.

I'd actually prefer to see none of DA2's romance options, so we can see that the ones who were romancing Hawke are still gone with Hawke, and not thrown away elsewhere like Leliana was, which still frustrates me.
Agree completely with this sentiment.

Shale would be nice, if only to find out what her and Wynne found in Tevinter. I really don't know if I want to see Sten again after his promotion, but if the qunari are at the forefront again, I'm sure he'll turn up.Tootles FTW wrote...
From DAO we've already been reunited with Alistair, Leliana, Wynne, Oghren, and Zevran via DA2 or DAA.
So: Morrigan, Shale & Sten - FAIR GAME.

- Sten could play a big role since he is Arishok now.
- Leliana for obvious reasons plus she has plot armor.
- Alistair as king of Ferelden or if you didn't make him king he could maybe gain a high rank within the grey wardens
-Morrigan for reasons just as obvious as Leliana's
DA:2:
-Varric, honestly I've got no reasons other than I like him and he has plot armor.
-Anders since he's the one that caused an incident that affected the entire world.

Ugh hated that so much. After seeing what they did to Anders I cannot help but be afraid they're completely going to retcon and destroy Leliana's character as well. I hope I'm wrong but I have a very bad feeling about this.
Is it so hard to just finish up the stories of the protagonist and companions at the end of the game then make a new game starring a completely new cast without bringing back old companions?
ETA: Oh of course... to answer the OP...
Leliana will probably play a big role. Morrigan too I assume. Aside from those two there's sebastian and possibly Varric though I can't see what kind of role he'd have in a big mage/templar war as he'd want nothing to do with it.
Alistair perhaps though I don't see Ferelden as a nation playing a big role in this war since it's really not their fight. Unless Orlais attacks Ferelden again.

Worried about this too, I honestly think that would be enough to ruin the game for me. My DA:O epilogue was already rendered invalid enough... <_<

wynne is dead, she died in Asunder.
I thnk several past companions will show up for cameos but as far as having an extensive part? I'd say Anders (can't have a mage/templar war without a mage extremist), and I can see Fenris jumping into the fray for the templars as well.
