I'm at Lake Calenhad Docks. I entered The Spoiled Princess. Actually I just went back to look around. I had already completed the Circle of Mages, but I was looking for Skinny Frank. Anyway, I noticed this before also, but when I enter The Spoiled Princess there is an inkeeper there with an arrow over his head (which shows that he is part of a quest) only I cant do anything with him. I talk to him and he tells me the same story about how The Spoiled Princess got its name and then I "ask for a drink" and look at his wares. I never in the game came across an arrow/pointer that wasn't part of an uncompleted quest, but I looked through all of my current quests and there is nothing about an inkeeper or The Spoiled Princess so what does this mean? Is this something that will be of value later in the game?

He's sort of part of the Scared Ashes quest line. There's a way where you can do the ashes quest without being told to in Redcliffe.

I actually just started the Sacred Ashes quest in the village of Haven. Perhaps I will get to know the innkeeper later. This is something to look forward to anyway. At least it's not a glitch.

I believe if you go to Lake Calenhad after talking to Weylon but before going to Haven, that's when the Urn bit happens at The Spoiled Princess.

You can only get his quest line if you talk to him before you enter Haven.

The inkeeper plays a role if you  follow a lead Sir Donall gives you in Lothrien(sp?)

*spoiler*
he mentiones a scholar in denerim. you enter the house and speak to the person there, who mentiones the Inn as a possible place to search for clues

So at this point I guess I lost it. Is it too late to go back? I remember talking to the guy long ago when I began the Circle of Mages quest and nothing happened. To go back to the time I was in Lothering is like going back to the beginning of the game. Lothering is the first town I entered in the game. I won't go back to a previous save by that much. That's like starting the game over! Is there any other way because I only just entered Haven. I could still go back, but not as far as Lothering. It's not too late to go back from before I entered Haven. Is there still something I can do?

If you have a save from right before you entered Haven, load that one up and go to Lake Calenhad. Once you enter Haven you can't do that part of the quest.

The problem is that I've been to Lake Calenhad twice before I began Haven and nothing happened. I never got the option to speak further than asking him how the town got its name and looking at the merchandise. I don't mind going back a little in the game, but I just came from there before beginning Haven, and again, nothing happened. Is there a certain party member I should have with me. Last time I had my favorite members - Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistar.

Um.. hm, that's weird. I thought you could do it as long as you haven't entered Haven.. but it might be before you are tasked to find the Urn. Honestly, you really aren't missing much by not doing it, it just gives you an extra encounter.

Probably missed it because I have now been tasked to find the Urn after completing Redcliffe. I was told the Urn is the only way to save Arl Eamon. This is after the I completed the Circle of Mages and saved the possessed boy, but I remember even back then not having much of an encounter with the innkeeper before I began the Circle of Mages quest. Oh well, I guess this is something I'll look into next time around. To go back to Redcliffe would be quite a step back and would consists of many of lost hours.

If you speak to Weynon in Denerim and your PC doesn't suspect him of lying to you, he'll send you to Lake Calenhad, where you will be able to pursue the Innkeeper's quest. Once you speak to him, you get a single encounter, and then have to go back to Denerim to talk to Weynon again. That said, it's really just an extra step in the Urn line and not really necessary; you aren't missing much besides an extra trip across Ferelden.

I think its a bug of some sort because even if the Sacred Ashes is finished that quest indicator doesn't vanish.

Makes no diff what so ever, all that happens is if you dont speak to ppl in the right order, the innkeeper will keep his arrow, but hardly end of world, can still do everything you need to.

I guess that's the problem I was having - that stupid arrow. Like said above, this is not the end of the world. I have just really been taking this game slow and was frustrated to see a part of the game that I missed and can't go back. I hardly remember Weynon in Denerim. Maybe I lied to him. Maybe I didn't. Is that what starts the quest for the Urn?

Weylon is in Genitivi's House. That is the door opposit to the Inn/Pub in the market district.
You don't lie to him, he lies to you. If you don't figure out the lie (dont have hiigh enoug cunning) and don't try to enter the room he doesn't want you to enter, but instead go to where he says you should go, you go to the Spoled Princess Inn and talk to the inkeeper. You then have options to ask about brother Genitivi and the Redcliff knights. This leads to a small encounter after which you are supposed to go back to Weylon and confront him about the lie.

I'd say just go back to Denerim now and check. You have nothing to loose :)

I tried a previous save of when I was in Denerim. I talked to Weynon. I traveled to the Spoiled Princess and tried talking to the innkeeper. I had more options than before, but tried everything, including persuading and intimidating, but he kept telling me that no one is here. When I question him again I only have limited options - 1. Have a drink 2. Why is this called the Spoiled Princess 3. Leave.

I'm guessing now it's because I went to Denerim way too early in the game. Perhaps I threw off this particular storyline. I traveled to Denerim right after the battle of Redcliffe. I was told to go to the Tower and bring back some mages to help the possessed boy. Instead I went to Denerim and worked on some side quests. Later I went to the Circle of Mages, then back to Redcliffe where they told me to start searching for the Urn.

I suppose if I had went in the order that the storyline called for, I wouldn't be having this problem, but from what I've read, I'm not actually missing out on much. He just tells me to go back to Denerim and talk to Weylon again. I think I liked my initial method of just killing Weylon (or the false Weylon) right from the first encounter (he will attack you if you try to look in the back room.) It seems rather pointless to travel back and forth, so I guess I didn't miss out on too much. I'll just have to deal with that stupid arrow/pointer over the innkeeper's head. Maybe I can work on getting it out of my head that it will always be there for the remainder of the game.

Perhaps next time around I will try the story differently.

When he tells you nothing all you have to do is go outside and the encounter happens, the onl difference is that if you persuade him to tell you you know that your going to be attacked before it happens.

Talk to him go outside and a fight should occur. One of them usually has Ceremonial Armour but other than that all you get is XP. I always fight them for the extra XP.

I did that too. I spoke with him, left, and was attacked. Problem is there arrow is still there. It's like that part of the quest will never be completed. Maybe it's just a glitch in the game because I played it out of order, but aren't you supposed to have the freedom to explore and not just follow the storyline?

If you've got high enough coercion/cunning the innkeeper will tell you it's a plot and he's under observation. But I think the arrow stays there until you actually go to Haven - I'm not certain, but I think that's the case.

Just started 2nd play-thru. I'll be sure to look for Weynon in Denerim and do what he says this time around.

Make sure not to go exploring the house yet or you'll find the realy Weylon's body and won't need to go to the Inn.

That's what I did wrong! Thank you! I explored Denerim much too early in the game. This time I was planning on putting off Denerim until after I completed the Blight Quests. Thank you. If you read through this forum I was going nuts trying to figure out what I did wrong.

You still have to talk to fake-Weylon but you just have to hear that knights are disappearing by the lake and then leave. I actually had fun getting ridiculously close to tripping him up before providing him an excuse. Seriously, if he's the best actor they could provide it's no wonder everyone keeps discovering Haven...

You can explore Genitivi's house and still go to the Calenhad tavern. I always do that early to get the gift for Leliana in the back room.
