And a little question arose - so from all the sources you've read - how much of the gametime will take actual fighting and battle? Percentage. How do you think?
Personally I don't like when there's very much of it.
We will spend the time in combat XX% of gameplay time.

Well i fear for you, that battles will play a great part in it.. say minimum 60%?

Heh... I think I'm going to guess around 60%. Rest of your time will be exploring, crafting, talking to companions and quest givers, etc.

I would guess 75% Fighting-25% the rest.

I say 2/3 or 66.6% fighting, the remaining third talking and exploring. Combat-heavy is fun.

It probably depends on your playstyle a great deal - do you listen to all of the voice acting? Do you go back to plase frequently to just poke around? Are you very cautious during combat or like to rush in? I think the above estimates are about right for a BioWare game, though.

This seems like the biggest factor. If you micromanage your whole party all the time, combat will take a lot longer, and thus make up much more of your overall playtime. But if you just rush through the battles without taking control of your companions at all, battles will take far less time.LdyShayna wrote...

I can easily inflate the length of an encounter by 4 or 5 times by being meticulous.

At least 4 or 5 times if you adopt the pause and play style - 10x maybe if you really want to micromanage and optimize, if it is anything like BG that is.
Difficulty level will likely be important as well - hack and slash on easy vrs pause and play on ultra difficult - huge difference in play time.
I think the big factor is how much story, how many puzzles, and how much fiddling there will be out of combat - and in that regard you can probably make it as short or long as you like as well. Ignore side quests, dont explore fully, and race through the game and its probably 85% combat.

70%ish sounds right - you do spent a lot of time chatting with companions, exploring etc but inevitably you will run into darkspawn and baddies in lots of places - and since the game is hard, you will likely pause and issue orders which will consume time. But that time will be great gameplay if its anything like BG (and it certainly seems to be!).

If it helps, I recall a dev saying that DA had about twice as much time spent in dialogue (percent-wise) as Mass Effect. I think that's the amount. Someone with a better memory will probably correct me.

I would expect there to be much fighting in a 80+ hour game but expect it not be to a chore and actually require people to use their brain unlike most of the "RPGs" that are crapped out these days.Holy Mortar wrote...

It really depends on your difficulty setting:
Casual: 20% combat, 80% conversation
Easy: 40% combat, 60% conversation
Hard: 60% combat, 40% conversation
Nightmare: 75% combat, 25% conversation
Or something like that.
