I am going to throw out who I think will be the main villainin the Citadel DLC, it’s going to be whoever you left behind on Virmire. They are going to be cyberneticly enhanced Reaper thralls (who would have more reason to hate Shep). I hope I’m wrong, but it fits what we have been seeing. I also remember CP saying something along the lines of the villain having a very good reason to hate Shepard.

It fits the model we have been seeing from BioWare lately, they went from extremely well written and thought out plotlines, (BG, KOTOR, ME, Jade Empire), to still great, but not spectacular, (DA:O, ME2, DA2) to, in my opinion, batpoop crazy (ME3 and DLC’s).

If this is true, and I have accurately predicted this, then I am done with ME, they clearly have stopped caring about the franchise. Not only would this rob the first game of its most dramatic moment, but also it would completely destroy what is arguably the most influential choice in the entire series.

The squadmate left behind on Virmire was vaporized by a nuclear blast. No amount of cybermancy can bring someone back from that.

I agree, but does BioWare agree. It's not much more farfetched than what happened to Shepard in ME2

Shepard was spaced and reentered an atmosphere. Also, since we never actually saw the other squad-mate after we made the choice, who's to say they weren't captured? I imagine them being captured, tortured, emotionally twisted to hate Shepard, and turned into a thrall.

That'd actually make me want to buy the DLC, especially if you can get them as a squadmate. Imagine all the cool dialogue they could have of Kaiden/Ashley having to become reacquainted with humanity and battling their inner-demons for what they did in the service of the Reapers.

Well, if you saved the Squaddie that went with Kirrahe, the other one is literally next to the bomb when it explodes. As said before, no way there is anything left.

Also, didn't both Ash and Kaidan volunteer to stay behind at one point, knowing the consequences. Why would they hate Shepard?

I know they were vapourised but you never know with space magic.

Perhaps they were picked up by Serin (sp?), an slowly indoctrinated over time, or you know, space magic.

The most likely scenario that it will have something to do with "Council archives", like people have suggested here. Playing Priority Citadel II again, it seemed like there are a bunch of untied-but-will-be-tied-in-a-DLC type of ends (same vibe as the conversation with Aria before Omega DLC).

But I hope it has something to do with indoctrination, like Shep having to prove that she isn't can can never ever ever be indoctrinated because of how awesome she is.

I've never read that. Source?

If that's the case, let's see:
- Any merc's son/daughter/parent killed by Shepard (boring)
- Pitne For (that volus drug dealer from Samara's recruitment mission. Boring)
- Jedore's sister (Grunt recruitment mission. Boring)
- A krogan from Weyrloc clan (Mordin loyalty mission. Boring)
- A crazy ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend (boring)
- Armistan Banes (that man Michel and Anderson talked about in ME1. No idea)
- A Cerberus agent or a Cerberus agent's parent (maybe someone who lost his/her son in Lazarus Station. Boring)
- A crazy guy who lost someone in the Citadel when Sovereign attacked (Boring)
- Someone from Omega (any Omega mission. Boring)
- Warden Kuril's brother (Jack recruitment mission. Boring)
- An indoctrinated guy (Boring)
...
No, I can't see how a conspiracy could be interesting...

I can confirm that the squadmember who was left to die on virmire  is not the mastermind behind the "conspiracy". You'll have to wait till tuesday to find out who is, and I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

After the endings and Omega, I find it not surprising that faith in Bioware is in short supply here.

Found the quote from CP "I can't explain yet for fear of spoiling the story, but there is a very  good, story reason why someone is trying to kill Shepard during the Reaper invasion. You'll have to play to find out why."
