Thanks for the info Eric,

I've come across some issues with the firing mechanic in that after I've let go of the melee button (after holding it to focus the shot) that the bow does not fire. I've had to tap the button again to make it fire, or hit one of the bow powers.

Is this an issue relating to the game mechanics or to ping?

Haven't played him yet, looking forward to it though. I don't know how he feels like, but from reading, this bow power sounds a lot like Ballistic blades when tapped. BB can't be dodged, neither should the Omni-Bow be dodgeable.

Passive power bonus+hyd-joints+strength III+full melee specced fitness+AP arrows=2shots to kill a husk on silver.

Sorry but his bow simply is not plat-viable. Only way to kill things with this kit on gold+ is with the Cain Trip Mine.

Would like to say however it's an awesome DLC, nice work.

Any word on why armour piercing arrows don't go through a guardian's shields? Is that intended? That was really the only thing that bugged (no pun intended) me about the character.

Presumably it's because arrows count as a power and powers don't pierce.

The omni-bow is simply too clumsy; it leaves him completely exposed and can be easily dodged by moving enemies. Therefore, maximizing it's damage makes for a high-risk low reward character in (especially when mob fighting). The character looks badass, but doesn't do anything better than several other classes except being a decent boss killer.

I did this build, but the bow is crealy underpowered compared to trip mines.

To use the bow you have to expose yourself for valuable seconds, some enemies will avoid them, and then there is the bug which the arrows doesn't do any damage at all. Lock on animation is rather slow and decreases DPS.
It is either this or fire 3 extremely powerful mines from a safe position. I wonder which one should I choose?
Arrows upgrades are only worth because of grenades capacity.

CTM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> omni bow.

Omni Bow is simply not worth it. Sorry, but to make omni bow viable, you need to buff it beyond imagination  and add bleed damage.

I really like the Talon, but it is a bit wonky to use. I had fun soloing a few silver rounds with him, but then I lost my connection to BSN.

The problem with the bow isn't that it's a terrible weapon, it's that the Cain mines are just way to good to avoid using grenade gear. I've used the bow as an easy way to keep weak enemies off me. Paired with the Saber, I've had a lot of success. I'd really like the charge up for the bow to go a bit faster.

1) Buff it's damage
2) Remove enemy's ability to dodge arrows
3) Fix the bugs

Seriously.

...

I did everything suggested in the OP from jump and barely made a significant dent on Gold.

I don't like how it's so awkward to use. Trying to manuever and hold down the B button and survive is difficult.

Great tips Eric, thanks.

Anyone else experience, though, instances where the bow doesn't fire (or is delayed in firing) after charging the heavy melee?

edit: apparently, yes.  thanks Vetrusio

2) Remove enemy's ability to dodge arrows

This would seem like a good idea.  I don't have the class and I haven't tried it yet, but it would seem that it's not fair for the Talon to depend so much on a skill that enemies can dodge.  No other character has a melee that can be dodged, as far as I know.

We believe this is due to lag.

I have tried all of these tips the bow still does far too little damage for it to be viable. Not to mention that the talon is quite flimsy and you have to sacrifice what little shields he has for bow damage. I can deal with squishy characters usually, but for the talon you have to expose yourself just to aim the bow which takes a couple of seconds.

He needs something to help his durability at least while aiming the bow, and the bow still needs some help with bugs and low damage.

Ok here's my problem. He needs more health/shields!!! I could go back to like I had
him, like tips suggest but whats the point In being a melee build if you can't stay on your feet?

But a lot of classes depend on powers that are dodged and blocked.

But his melee is not really toe-to-toe melee, eh?  He is more ranged and so has adept like squishyness.

Thanks Eric although I already use this build. I do like the Talon, although I do think that the omni-bow could use a little buff cause on gold it still takes 2-3 AP arrows to kill shielded mooks. Also, the cost of high damage Omni-Bow leaves him very squishy and half the time you need to be out in the open to use it.

Ah, see, I skipped Elite Mercenary passives like I do with my Paladin melee build. Respeccing.

I suggest doubling his grenade regeneration and making cain mines use two grenades.  That would let him use his powered arrows more without making the mines more spammable.

So far I only tested the kit on bronze, because he has no health with all bow passives, and I was actually suprised when my AP Arrows actually killed a dragoon in one heavy melee. I had extra grenades instead of arrows. I can see the extra 5th arrow helping on higher difficulties.

The Concussive Bow also suprised me when I heavy meleed a Phantom and it took all her barriers down with 3/4 health left and knocked her off her feet, with the cyro upgrade it also froze her! Agian had grenade capacity instead of 5th arrow.

The only thing I do not like is how long it takes to recharge ammo, in a game that's fast paced I would not like to wait 25-30 secs to get 1 ammo back mybe 15-20 secs or give me 2-3 ammo or both?

I am also very stingey with thermal packs, I still refuse to use them.

Otherwise I think this is a fun class to use, very stretegic and tactical because he can not take damage, but powerful if you can stay alive.

Just give me MOAR AMMO!

Guess it's too late to suggest changing his two arrow powers into projectiles that automatically fire off when the button/key is pressed?

(eg. Carnage, Homing Grenade, etc)

While the explanation is appreciated... at some point during his development, did you ever think "If a character needs an explanation on how to use them, maybe this isn't the best idea".

Because not everyone comes to this forum. Most want to use a power and go about their business.

I think they need to add classes that aren't as obvious as others to appeal to all player levels. On one hand you have a lot of people complaining about the TGI and now AIU for being too easy and kits like the Talon and Collector that are too hard.

Someone who is new and might not have their weapons or gear maxed can use one of the more powerful classes to help them along. But eventually they get better and their gear more powerful and they start looking for a more challenging kit.
