Fixing the bugs on him so he is actually playable would be nice first and foremost.

A person cant play a new kit or master its abilities instantly and all of a sudden its bugged..... ya gotta love it.:o

to be fair, there are a few bugs with the talon atm... like the key binding thing and the skill point issue

Alright. I bit the bullet, took all your advice and ran him on Gold. I think, at his core, the issue is that he doesn't have anything going for him. He's "reasonable", at best. His defenses are awful, but he's not the only character with this issue. The reason he's different from them is that all of them have reduced defenses to offset their incredible damage potential (Drell spring instantly to mind) or to allow for crowd control, hit-and-run powers (most of the basic human classes, adepts and engineers of most races...). He doesn't have this. His Omni-Bow is sub-standard, and his passives are standard-to-poor. Either he needs to be much more tanky, so he can afford the time needed for the bow to kill comparable to other classes, or he needs much higher damage.

Literally everything save the Cain Mine is focused around the bow, and when specced for max bow damage, it sucks even on Silver.

I just don't get it.

Why is the suggestion that the bow needs a monumental buff even a point of contention?

For those having troube with cover grabs, its best to hold the button when sliding into cover and keep it held until you perform the grab. Tapping like you would for any other class will just pop him out of cover.

I'm glad you said you're keeping an eye on him. Your tips are good, but I still believe that the bow could use a buff.

Even with that all that massive investment it is still seems more effective to simply shoot the enemy so long as you have a decent weapon.

I put every melee bonus I could on him. The bow still sucked. Cain mines are one of my favorite powers though.

Found a bug with hazard reactor and the trip mines.  They will keep the door closed when you vent the reactor.  Preventing you from being able to get inside and blocking shots.  Enemies will still be able to get in and out and fire at you.

Also, the bow not firing when you let go of the button, sometimes for several seconds.

You know what I "love"? How some people stills eem to have such blind faith in an EA owned company that they believe everythign is perfect from day one.

I love the idea of this kit and started him as a level 15 in bronze with a very similar build to the one suggested. The bow was horrible, lag made it sketchy to get clean shots and they. Just didn't do enough.

On the second game I got so bored of trying to use the bow I ended up shooting and did more consistent damage with the Disciple of all things.

Fourth game and I went Cain mines on level 4 and crusader and topped the scoring. ( for what it is worth)

There is the potential for a really fun character here and I so want this kit to work out well but in the end it just eft me feeling very frustrated.

Thank you for all the DLC (I even bought real packs!) and for taking the time to help us reach this kits potential but I just don't feel that potential is very high.

I used this same build last night and while I did get some decent kills, the Omni Bow simply isn't powerful enough for this class to be viable on Gold or Platinum. I was having to shoot Phantoms 4 to 5 times to kill them while my buddy was simply running up to them and splattering them with one hit of the Krogan hammer. The Krogan also had much better survivability.

Bottom line is the Talon needs his base melee damage increased so that a full on melee build will actually kill stuff quickly because with that build, he is simply too squishy to withstand any kind of prolonged battle.

On Vancouver, I had constant problems with the Cain mines. They attached to diagonal sections of vents (instead of the flat air conditioner side), tiny struts, chairs and consistently failed to project a beam in a location that could be tripped.

I don't know what can be done about this, but you should take a look at how these attach to certain surfaces.

The problem is not the omni bow, but the fact that it's buggy (reset controls)

This is why I don't use this buggy kit and that is not the only bug associated with this kit.Image IPB

Due to limited experience with him, I could certainly be wrong, but the above seems spot on to me. He plays extremely squishy without having either crowd control m comensurate damage output or something else to make up for it.

The problem with this is he needs all these boosts to be decent, but to have this he sacrifices survivability.

I'm not saying he should have both, I'm saying that he should at least be able to dish out good damage with his bow normally seeing as though he has to sacrifice health and shields and has 2 powers based around it.

It would also help if his base health/shields were buffed, since you pretty much have to take the Melee Damage evolutions in Fitness to make him Gold Viable (and forget about Platinum with this guy).

The Cain Mines are also definitely bugged, unless enemies are supposed to be able to walk right through the red line and not trigger them.

He needs to stay too long out of cover when focusing the bowshot. I run a couple of engineers with three points in fitness on Gold and can stay alive better.
It's also a bit awkward to press HM when trying to strafe out of soft cover for the shot. I ddin't try to reassign keys, I would if we had keybinding profiles.

So if I do this build.....I have line up a shot with holding down a button, then fire it, see it hits, and worry about dodging shots coming from multiple enemies....and on top of that, I have less time to live since I have less health.

Love the concept of the Talon, just poor execution. Also not being able to grab enemies is a huge minus in my eyes.

In addition to a Bio War Amp + Shields combo gear, now I also want a Melee + Grenades combo gear. I know, ain't gonna happen, but everybody's got a dream.

Thanks for spelling it out Eric. I haven't read through this thread, and I also have only tried out the Talon for 2 matches - I'm a little unclear about how using a bow power cooldown works - Is it time based or number of shots? When I hit AP Arrows, I'm not sure how many shots I get or if there's a limited amount of time I can be armed with AP Arrows - ?

I don't know if this change would be possible at this point, but I think the omnibow would be a lot easier to use if the lock-on mechanic kicked in upon firing, rather than on charging. Basically, I find the omnibow comparable to charge/ramp up weapons like the acolyte, PPR, and typhoon. Using one of those guns, I can charge them up behind soft cover, then step out and lay waste to my target with minimal exposure. The omnibow, however, usually needs you to be at least partially out of cover to get a reliable target lock. By reliable, I mean targeting the enemy you want to target: I tried charging up behind soft cover a few times, but upon leaving cover, it would seize upon the first target (i.e. swarmers) and refuse to shoot at anything else. That leaves a you with a choice of being overexposed to enemy fire (with a kit specced for melee instead of health no less), or having effectively no targeting control.

Another idea would be to treat the omnibow as a hitscan weapon instead of a projectile power. The bow fires quite slowly, so if you miss any of your shots because enemies dodge them, it really kills your dps. Likewise for banshees using their anti-power bubble to negate your shots. The omnibow is completely useless against them as is.
