As one who never ventured to forums about the developers of Uncharted and The Last Of Us, this could be interpreted as fewer people care about these subjects to create topics of that tone in the first place.

The ending is still bad, the trilogy however got better and most enjoyable over time.
At the hight of protest a lot of players referred to games that Bioware should look up to, thats how a story should be written ect....
Well I bought some of those "suggested" better excellently written games. It certainly gave me back my perspective of reality.
Am I glad Bioware wrote the ME trilogy, despite plotholes bad ending and the horrible spacebaby.

Perfect games simply do not exist, enjoyable games do. Overall ME trilogy gives me that satisfaction of enjoyment in spades despite of all its shortcomings. Thats why I still play it as most of Biowares games get replayed too for the same reason.

So in the end Bioware still gives me a lot of gameplay for my money and as long they are capable of doing that.........

I don't think the series is overrated...as much as we sometimes complain about these games and storylines as such. I think we can pretty much confirm that bioware has been creating this storyline on the fly as each game was being created....and there is nothing wrong with that.

But i think we need to cut them some slack, because if you fall back and look at this series as a whole and realize the hundreds of hours it takes to craft a game of this nature, numerous dialogue branches, numerous takes for characters reactions and responses, linking up past actions done in previous game and linking them up in other games, there is a TON of programming and incredibly difficult coding to be had with a game of this scope.

The uncharted games and last of us games are good, but they don't have branching dialogues and they don't have to be held to a higher standrard because they don't have connecting or more complicated storylines and character development like the ME series has. It's easy to overlook some of the so called plotholes in the ME universe, simply because what the series has going on in it's complete sci-fi universe is just so amazingly huge.

I came in on ME2 and i was completely blown away with how mature the game is written and how closely it gave real life reactions as to what a person would say in general in terms of reactions...it also is a series that made you care very deeply about it's characters..something that is very difficult to do.

Amazing visuals, high production values and some flaws here and there, but the game and it's situations always had you second guessing yourself because you didn't want anything bad to happen....bioware has done it's job without people even realizing it...this series is not overrated at all...

Think about all the problems you've had with each of the games. Just think about it. Are these games really amongst the greatest of all time? Was there really a legacy to keep? Is it really worth it to get worked up over them?

ME1

- Poor shooting mechanics

- Poorly designed and repeatdley used buildings for side quests.

- Redundant, time consuming side quests. Find the writings, collect minerals, etc.

- "Illusion of choice" speech options. You're character would say the same thing no matter what you chose.

- Buggy at certain moments and in certain situations. The infinite falling motion comes to mind.

- Characters that were predictable, mainly looking at Garrus, Ashley and Kaidan.

ME2

- Didn't advance the main plot in any significant way.

- The death at the beginning really felt like an excuse to introduce new characters. I know it was the purpose, but it was extremely obvious.

- Getting upgrades involved tedious planet scanning.

- Higher difficulty = Slap armor on everything.

- Extremely predictable combat. Run into a room, take place behind the obvious cover. Level design felt uninspired.

- Paragon/Renegade speech system limited players very much.

ME3

- A lot of scripted interactions with your squad mates. Having choice in your reaction is half the interest.

- Many of the things that were important or good in ME1 and ME2 were really made irrelevant. Almost seemed like the team did it on purpose. A lot of squad mates were cut, decisions were completely disregarded or made irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and romantic relationships were actively destroyed.

- War assets in the place of a seen difference.

- Side quests that combined the tediousness of ME1 fetching with ME2 scanning. They improved the scanning, but removed the exploration involved with fetching.

- Horrible journal system.

- Uninspired characters, such as Kai Leng, being of major importance in the game.

Now I'm not saying the series was bad. I'm just saying that I'm not quite sure it deserves the title of one of the best ever, given it's flaws. I'm also saying that when considering the flaws, ME3 isn't really that bad when compared to the first two.

i'll never understand the need for people to bloviate or stir up crap just for the sake of it.  last time I checked, the people who come to forums are people invested in the game.  if you don't like it, why the heck are you even in here? why did you buy the second game if you hated the first one. why buy the third when you and people like you think it's crap? and then people like you rattle on about how great the AC series is...pfft..even when it has one of the biggest bs endings ever.  However, you are totally entitled to your opinion, even if you chose to act like a troll.

I love the first game, but I'll admit that the list of negatives Mad Hanar covers can largely reflect my own. Of course, those things are greatly outweighed for me, which is why I've replayed the game multiple times, but those things still remain. In subsequent plays, I often skip some quests to avoid some of the repetition. I'd say he's not off the mark on the other games either. For as much as ME2 is lauded as being such a great game, and I would also agree, the list of issues in that quote are the most glaring flaws. Planet scanning is one of the worst bits in the game, but thankfully, there's a kind of meh-horrible-meh curve. ME1 is relatively quick and painless, ME2 ups the ante and makes it horrific with tedious mineral scanning, which is made completely necessary because it ties into vital upgrades, and ME3 mitigates this somewhat by only having the locator bit, many of which you could overlook now and still get the "best" endings.

I don't agree that the series is overrated, because in the end, I think it's such an intriguing universe that BioWare put together and quite easy to get hooked on, not to mention being satisfying and fun to play, but it is deeply flawed at the same time.

I don't know. Every series has flaws, so pointing them out doesn't necessarily mean ME isn't one of the best ever. Personally I'd say Final Fantasy is a better series because the degree of difficulty in making a much longer series that is (on the whole) consistently good when you reinvent the battle system and story every iteration is insanely high. But that's hard to judge since most Final Fantasy fans seem to take it upon themselves to judge other entries harshly and cling to a few as gems; in other words a longer, more complex version of what goes on between Mass Effect fans. So you are obviously a troll,  I have more that I want to say but I am on thin enough ice as it is with the mods around here.
