Lets make Ascension mode better!

Hey everyone, thus far I have found a few problems with Ascension mode on the new Coldept. They are:
  • Animation is far too long keeping the player exposed and vulnerable too much (standing still=death).
  • The class is already pretty squishy, and negative 40% DR (DI?) is not worth the damage bonuses. Instead of the enemy dropping like flies, you do. (actually you drop like BEES!) It's not like the subtract 40% shields on the shoulder missile for the destroyer, its worse in that you take more damage from everything.
  • It doesnt last long enough before needing another cast of it, which would bring us back to number one above.^
Now, my thoughts for making it better are like this, and they likely require a patch. The damage bonus idea is a good one, but in the end with the current evolutions it makes you die too much. Collector troops gain barriers when they get possessed. So what we should do is decrease the damage bonuses, and actually change the power to instead of increasing damage taken, decrease it with some DR or extra barriers when ascended. The time it stays in effect should be increased as well, I'm thinking on par with annihilation field, 90 seconds, a minute increase from the current 30.

tl;dr Ascension mode needs a buff, how would you make it better?

All I think it needs is a duration buff, honestly. Dark sphere is pretty ridiculous while ascended.

but how much should they reduce it?

I'd say the base damage taken should be reduced from 20% to 10%.

When Ascension mode is used, change the Collector's voice bank to Harbinger's.

*uses Ascension mode'

Collector: Assuming direct control.

Base:
Make animation half as long or grant immunity frames.

Take only 15% more damage (rather than 40%).
Slow down movement speed by 10%.
Increase power damage by 25%.
Decrease power recharge time by 30%.
Lasts for 60 seconds.

Modifications beyond base:
Fitness rank 6a slows your speed down by an additional 5% and you take an extra 5% damage in exchange for an extra 15% power damage and extends the duration to 90 seconds.

Fitness rank 6b removes the damage penalty and instead gives you 10% damage resistance, decreases your power damage by 15%, and extends the duration to 90 seconds.

Not sure I like 6b, but it seems the most even competitor with 6a.
I think it would be a lot better in this fashion, and worth putting the extra points into fitness.

Yeah, maybe that could be justified, at least 18% rather than 10%. And let me clarify, for 6b, it ends up a NET +10% power damage, as I meant it as a modification to the base stats, not an override. :)

How about we just activate it once and be done with it? 30 seconds is simply ridiculous.... It looks so cool but there's really no point for me to do that 40-50 times in a game to make use of a passive power that I specced into.

50*30=1500 seconds *or* 25 minutes. So that was pretty accurate. Never thought about it that way. Yeah this is pretty ridiculous!

From my old thread

A. Damage penalty recution route

Base damage penalty 30%

Rank 6 damage penalty -5%


Simple enough, right? I honestly never got why mastering a power would increase the damage penalty you take in it anyway, this would also be a nice balancer since it would make it much more appealing to level the power to 6 to get the dmage penalty reduction

OR

Base damage penalty 15%

Rank 6 dmage penalty + 10%


B. the bonus buff route

Rank 4 ascension damage evo increased to 7%

Rank 6 ascension mastery ascension damage increased to 18%

Fully specced- plus 35% damage (+10% compared to orignal)

increase base power recharge speed to 10%

Rank 6 ascension mastery power recharge speed buff increased to 20%

Full ascension specced- +40% recharge speed (+15% compared to orginal)


This gives the collector adept a much more powerful Ascension stance, worthy of that +4-% damage penalty, and since most of the buffs are to ascension mastery, it essentially means that without taking the 40% damage penalty it isn't much of a buff. Meaning that it keeps it a bit more balanced, and makes that final evo a lot more appealing.

And (in both cases) increase the duration , a lot.
