I'd like it to be a few hundred years after the events of Mass Effect 3, and assuming every other squadmate will have died from old age, I beg for Liara to -not- be in it taking advantage of the long asari lifespan.

my hopes are that they dont rush it to meet a date, and that they write it well.

This, and no hide nor hair of any existing squadmates. And no canon ME3 ending.

Doesn't anybody have anything specific to say about the actual gameplay? " oh i hope fails... i hope somebody else makes it.... i hope it doesn't suck....i hope it's not a prequel...." ok well that last one i actually agree with. I hope that in the fourth ME, we will be able to rotate the galaxy map on the bridge. This wasn't really an issue in me3, but in me2, there were times when information overlaped, and there was no way to see what was behind the label in front.

Set it before or during the original trilogy.

well, I don't know about all the alien race stuff you mentioned, and i'm very reticent about the idea of a prequel...but I just hope it matches the first trilogy's magic and quality

Set it before or during the original trilogy.

. Then everything ends with C/S/D, or everybody dies.  BioWare wrote themselves into a corner.  Can't go forward without a canon ending, can't go back because it all ends in one of the endings.

But I definitely think a concurrent story is the way to go.

I liked how we could land on the planets and drive around in the first ME. I thought it was fun exploring the terrain.

That people will stop calling it Mass Effect 4. It will still have a dialog wheel. It will be more open-ended with many different story lines. Real exploration, none of that boring Mako stuff. The same combat system as ME3 but with less "Spacebar".

I hope ME4 still feels like a Mass Effect game. I feel like EA and the console publishers will try to push social aspects and micro-transactions more with next-gen systems.

Oh you want more specifics. Ok.
  • More story less pewpew.
  • Less auto-dialogue and more choice.
  • Fix the mission journal so that it is at least on par with the first game in tracking progress.
  • Keep the single player story with multiplayer being a side option. l like my single player story and not everything needs a multiplayer element shoehorned in.
  • Rather than sell Day 1 DLC for something that's probably been finished on the same development cycle just price it in with the full game and be done with it.
  • Keep with the strong character writing and plan out the story completely from the start. Regardless of the way anyone feels about the ending, the Catalyst felt really forced into the storyline, probably in part because he didn't exist until the 3rd game. Maybe this is part of a branching story arc for the future but if it is foreshadow better.
  • Maybe include a form of space combat or exploration in the next game or something to replace the void of minigame absence left by the Mako missions.
  • I love the story that spans multiple games. This is a signature of Mass Effect and while I completely understand keeping this going would be near impossible, I think any new series should span at least a couple of games and adopt the same principle while giving nods to certain past events from the original trilogy. This doesn't have to encompass everything, just maybe a key point with a few Eastereggs.

Just a few of mine.

Did you see Sony's event? That is virtually guaranteed. I can't say I look forward to the new depths that EA will sink to and drag BioWare right along with them.

My hope is that, although I guess Casey Hudson said on Twitter that it won't be before, after, or to the side (to paraphrase), that it DOES retain a lot of elements and appeal from the trilogy, and that it is from the same universe.

Well i preferred that "boring"  mako stuff over scanning for resources and war assets. Sure the ground missions in Me2 were more varied, so maybe a combination of ME's planet exploration coupled with ME2's side missions... but please no more scanning

Yea. And from all the rumors Microsoft doesn't seem to be backing off from that front either.

I feel like SP centric games are slowly dying away.

It won't last. Multiplayer games are going to plateau, and then they're going to stagnate. Single player games won't.

It's going to be a forced cash-grab by EA. I'm not buying it.

Ultimately I think ME 4's fate is like going "BUNGIE" jumping off a 200ft. bridge with a 300ft. cord. Basically I think it is Mass Effect's "DESTINY" to be eclipsed by something better. Sad though... but when Bioware gets executed by EA like so many other developers that have failed them (and they will), they will think back to how they could have prevented the fall of a great company if they had just listened to the fans. Sad.
