It just doesn't work. I consider this the signature power of the Cabal (otherwise she's just a Biotic Focus spamming weapons platform, and that's boring) so I'm very frustrated that it really sucks.
There are several reasons why it doesn't work like it should:
(1) Tracking. It's often difficult or impossible to know precisely where you'll end up. Even if you have a relatively clear path you might sometimes go through a wall you didn't intend to or pass a corner you wanted to steer clear of. This can and does get you killed. Frequently. It also means that often you won't actually hit enemies you think will be directly in your path, meaning you won't do any damage at all.
Contrast this with Biotic Charge, which (when it works) puts you exactly where you intended to be and hits the enemy you wanted.
(2) Range. The base range is too short. Due to survivability concerns it's almost mandatory to take evolution 6b, making the range even worse.
(3) Damage. It doesn't do enough. If you could comfortably skip some of the range and cooldown evolutions it might be passable, but as it stands it's very lackluster even with full consumables and passives.
(4) Survivability. It doesn't refill your shields. If you want to use this power aggressively and frequently, you must, must, must take evo 6b (and thus also 4b) and use Biotic Focus evo 6a. Otherwise good luck staying alive.
This does not even address problems caused by lag and bugs, only gameplay design. Due to the above reasons, any build centered around Poison Strike will not be effective. Until PS gets some love, the only viable Cabal builds will skip this power or only get it to rank 3 and only use it occasionally. This is a shame.
