This is what Lolth does to Human/Vasharan priestesses who get a little too uppity, which they always eventually do.  Mama don't like no sass.

:lol:

Inspired by the Book of Vile Darkness.

Unfortunately, doing the legs as I did, you can see the feet detach from certain angles when it's running. Meh. Anyway, I've been wanting to do the general idea for a while. A couple other shots are on my blog. The version in the video is probably the final texture of the spider (uses sword spider texture), the regular black in the screenshot was just too amazingly black to look good under most lighting conditions.

I've got some placeable buildings, temples and shrines, or meshes that would work as such. Since they're not original work but imports from other games, would they be better off on a side thread?

Here are two Baatezu of my own devising, an unholy merging of the Formian and Hound Archon models.  On my copy of NWN, the UV mapping on the Hound Archon model is completely messed up so I had to redo the torso, biceps and forearms before I could begin.  Chopped up some player heads to get the topknot and horns.  And of course, lots and lots of GIMP.  Flex added to topknot and goatee on the default Canisecta.  The Formians are a pretty lightweight model so not a lot of animations on them as compared to, say, a Stinger.  Still, I think they have fall backwards/forwards and threaten & cheer emotes along with the regular attacks, etc.

Shedu, last version...

Posted Image

It have a little problem with the animation, when the creature looks around; The head and the tail are displaced a little from their proper position. Until now i couldn't be able to fix that. However like the rest of animations works properly. I'll probably stops here, it had give me some headaches....

Shouldn't the disfavored of Lolth have dark skin? Really creepy though.

What happened to the old Shedu? I liked the earlier thinner one more

I really like the Disfavored of Lolth for some weird reason.

What I like best is that the cruelty of the Mistress is painfully obvious on that one, but not gratuitously so that it makes one giggle rather than smirk in disgust or fear like one should when discovering that "anthropomorphic" spider-beast.

T'is not an easy feat to achieve, mind you, the uncanny valley and the impossibility to keep whatever creature one devises fully animated are always dangerously close.

Two thumbs up from me ^.^

@3RavensMore - Thank you!

@Jenna WSI -
If they were Drow, yes.  These are a play on "Favored of Lolth" (which are Drow) and they're meant to be Vasharan or Human...but really, Vasharan.  I couldn't come up with a good way to make a Vasharan recognizable as such without pushing the bounds of the CCC good-taste-wise, so I fell back on a combination that worked and was not too offensive.  I might take another swing at it with Drow.  Their skins are very, very nicely made, texture-wise.  I imagine Lolth has even worse punishements for Drow who've fallen out of favor though, heh heh.

@Nissa_Red -
Thank you!  Yeah, I consciously toned it down and I think it came out much better for doing so.  If you have other depictions which you think work well, feel free to share them here or by PM.  No idea whether I could do (whatever) or not, but I'd love to hear them.

So; Do you prefer this?

Perhaps I could add both, However like it's not a common creature, my first feeling was to avoid that...

I'm not very good at imaging completely "outland'ish" or "god-like" creatures, just so you know, but I have a fairly good sense of what would scare/disgust me in a creature, so here come a couple of suggestions for your model :

- without going full crazy on making it a phenotype (I don't think it's the purpose of such a creature), I'd see being able to apply a PLT texture to the skin parts of the "disfavored" as an improvement. That would be an easy way to share Lolth's wicked sense of "justice" equally among the drows and their human/elves "slaves". I don't have access to the model so maybe you've already thought of that, or maybe it's just not possible (too many parts already) ?

- next, I think the model is "gore'ish" enough as it is. I am no big fan of blood/mutilation, and the more it's suggested or implied, the better I usually like it (for example, Estelindis' wounded bodyparts are awesome, I thought). What I mean is that you've found a good compromise on your model : it's not too much, just enough of it. However, if you have the time and inclination to further improve it with some custom animations, having the hapless "disfavored" (or what remains of it anyway) slightly wriggle while the spider is in a resting position would really make it an utter vision of horror to me, goosebumbs and shrieks of desperation included ^.^

I'll try to come up with more, but honestly, it already looks very good (in a scary kind of way) to me as it is.

Thank you to everyone here for sharing, and listening to feedback. As usual, please feel free to discard/ignore anything that (just) doesn't seem reasonable in my ramblings.

@Shemsu-Heru

If you cared for some more feedback, I prefer the "lion" version of the Shedu (just goes to show that taste in matters of colors and forms is quite... diverse), but I'll openly admit that it's probably because I would use it a sphynx first and foremost (so I hope you'll leave it avalaible somewhere!).

If I look again at the original sketch you provided, it definitely has the body of a bull. Soooo, if you asked me which version I prefer between the white-skinned version above and the beige-skinned one even further above, I'd probably go with the beige one, because it looks more imposing (as a god-like being probably should) to me.

However, I've had surprises between how creatures looked on a screenshot, and how they'd look once in the toolset/game, so it's difficult to make a definitive choice. Err, I am not helping much there, right >.<

*comforts Shemu-Heru*

EDIT : Looking again at your screenshots, I wonder what happened to this version (grey skinned) of the Shedu? I think it's my favorite one among the lot you showed us : the white skinned one, the beige skinned one and this one. A bit more of a useful feedback this time, hopefully.

No reason not to release em all! :D

I plan to use the lion as a lammasu and the bull as a shedu. Builders then choose the one they prefer.

Im quite excited, I've been needing something like this for a while

*hugs a lot*

The lion like creature is a Lammasu, it's close to the shedu but is a diferent creature, and it will be added anyway. I just was ask about the bull like creature (shedu), and what do you predert?

I had edited the grey textured, because I thought that white looks more divine.....

In mythology, Lammasu and Shedu are two name for the same creature. Shedu is the uncommon name

@Mechon: In Acadian mythology shedus are the males of the spice and Lammasus are the females. But in D&D they are diferent creatures....

Now the Golden Protector (Celestial Half-Dragon Lammasu)

Posted Image

Child of a celestial lammasu and a gold dragon, the golden protector has migrated to the Material Plane to more actively combat evil. (D&D 3e MM I)

PS: I forgot to say that the Golden protector is based on the Dragonne form The Community Creature Project (CCP).

My Shedus and Lammasus can be download Here.

Doh, I knew it, you only modified the texture. Screenshots can be really misleading to me sometimes. If the model is the same, a white texture would look more divine to me as well, yes. Very sorry if I was wasting your time >.<

I'm sure your model will come out great, I'm looking forwards to it, thank you, Shemsu-Heru!
