I would like to hear your opinion on him, because you know... I'm a player just like you.
My impressions on him:
First and foremost: The Awakened Collector is not an easy character to master. Sure, he has lot of perks but possesses an uncommon synergy between his powers and a bad one with weapons weight in general (More about it later).
He holds his weight with almost no problem on every difficulty and against every enemy, but his pace is very erratic: the Awakened Collector deals bursts of high damage attacks every 7/10 second (more or less, depending on your setup).
He isn't a foxhole kind of character then, but more of an hit-and-run kind of guy, dodging incoming fire with his wings, staying far from the fray.
Awakened Collector Plus:
1) Biotic PowerHouse: The Awakened Collector has one of the stronger, if not the strongest, biotic attack of all the adept, the Dark Sphere. To put in perspective, a full specced Dark Sphere does more than 3000 of damage upon detonation (without bonus from the passives), 3 (!) times a Krolord biotic hammer, while doing DOE on every enemy it pass through (a little more than 500 per second, if memory serves me well).
2) Destination detonation: of his 3 powers, 2 are primers for BE (Dark Sphere and Dark Channel), and 1 (Seeker swarms) is a detonator. You can cripple and destroy efficiently an entire enemy spawn, if you use them right.
3) A little tankier then most: a full specced fitness gives you 825 life points and 1238 barrier points, making him the third tankier adept in the multiplayer, a very useful thing if you prefer an assault adept.
4) Charisma: a high octane nightmare fuel Collector, with a green Kamehame stance as light melee. How can't you love him? Sadly he's silent as a mountain: the awakening from the Reapers indoctrination removed all of those cheesy lines.
Awakened Collector Minus:
1) Cooldowns. Seeker Swarms and Dark Sphere share the same base cooldown: 8 bloody seconds.
While is justifiable for the Dark Sphere, I think that 8 seconds for the SS is way too much.
What are your thoughts on this? Because the Awakened Collectors pays already a huge tribute in casting animation for the Seeker Swarms (Yes I know you can cancel it, but this is beyond the point), is 8 second an adequate cooldown for a power which is your only detonator?
Before answering this, let's consider first the Ascension Stance, activated from the heavy melee: it gives you faster cooldowns for a little while, something that the Awakened Collectors craves badly, at the cost of making you more susceptible to enemy fire. It isn't a good tradeoff, IMO, because it forces you to cripple a lot your defenses, or to spec defensively, just to achieve a little bonus in attack rate.
A base cooldown of 6 seconds for the Seeker Swarms, and a 30% bonus cooldown for the Ascension Stance should make the trick, but I would like to hear your opinion on this.
2) Erratic pace: because of his cooldown, the AC can nuke a spawn or destroy a large group of opponent, but it can't hold a line, not alone. He needs the synergy of other biotics, especially those with warp, for its combos with Dark Sphere (very few can survive this, and not unscathed).
I'm thinking Turian Sentinel and Krogan Shaman could be his best buddy: tanky characters who can survive in the dire moments when the Collectors powers are recharging.
How do I play him?
In my experience, there aren't half measures with the Awakened Collector: you can't be an assault adept and a biotic powerhouse at the same time, like a drelldept for instance. So you have to choose carefully what do you want to be.
I prefer to use the Awakened Collector as a pure biotic powerhouse with 200% cooldown, to use his high damage powers as often as possible, forgetting about weapon synergy, and using every single piece of gear to achieve the max biotic potential.
My build:
Dark Sphere: 6 (detonation radius/recharge speed/dark matter).
Seeker Swarms: 5 (Recharge Speed/ Damage Reduction).
Dark Channel: 3.
Vengeful Ancient: 6 (Damage and capacity/power damage/power damage)
Fitness: 6 (Durability/Ascension Recharge Speed/Fitness expert)
Weapons: SMG/Heavy pistol (acolyte) both with power magnifier.
Gear: I advise some shield here...
Launching a Dark Sphere does not begin a cooldown, only detonating it. Thanks to this, I summon one of them on a spawn point, a ladder, or even an hallway; immediately using SS.
With this build, DS does 3150 damage upon explosion in a 4.50 meters, more than enough to cripple everything.
Usually, I activate at this moment ascension stance, and always before a biotic rush, than wait for the first enemy of the beeline. Detonation of the dark sphere to cripple the group and seeker swarms on three different targets, clearing the survivors of the explosions with SMG/ heavy pistol: rinse and repeat, using light melee on stunned target for the lulz (remember, it hits everything in a narrow and short cone in front of you and it has a cool stance).
Relocate often and don't let them flank you.
With this scheme I topped the scoreboard constantly, using very few medigel (1/2 every match) but digging a lot more in ops packs.
Hope to have been of some use, and at least made you smile a little.
Ciao!
EDIT: cleared the format.
EDIT2: corrected a misconception on his light melee
EDIT3: cleared the format again.
