Dalish Elf Rogue, Duel Wielding obviously and archer as well. I wanna be good with the bow but deadly with the blades. Duelist Specialization, and if we can pick another either assassin or bard.

Human Noble Rogue. Ranger Specialization. Bows. Skills to be more thoroughly decided on upon the release of the game.

Dwarf Commoner rogue, duel wielding, duelist and/or assassin specialization. I also have a City Elf rogue but no human yet. Maybe I should do that now :)

I'm gonna go City Elf Rogue. The squalor and violence of the city elf origin seems well-suited to developing an unlawful rogue character. My character is a rat-catcher so the starting skills/talents of Poison Making, Coercion and Dirty Fighting kind of make sense too.

Check out my female dwarven commoner rogue I made earlier:

http://social.biowar...e=dragonage1_pc

Then imagine her at high level with Dual Wield Mastery, dual wielding 1-H Axes! Image IPB Also high Coercion, a cute smile that hides her true intents, & a 'never say die!' spirit! Image IPB

Dwarf stealth FTW! Hows that for new & different? Image IPB

Also, look at her daggers. They look like short swords on her, lol! Image IPB

Dwarf Commoner Rogue, going into dual wielding daggers but getting all the lockpicking and stealing skills. focusing on stealth and evasion for combat also picking up the AoE line but leaving the other two weapon skill line

a little concerned about all the people who say they are dual wielding swords.. bearing in mind swords will likely require more strength to equip thats more wasted stat points and also dexterity adds to dagger damage so high dexterity gives good evasion AND damage to dagger wielding rogue, as opposed to just good evasion for sword wielders forcing them to pump even more wasted stat points into cunning or strength (depending on if you get lethality)

Personally i recon sticking with daggers means i can keeping my cunning fairly low (25 ish by lvl 20) i can get a nice high willpower for the MP pool then keep strength and constitution minimum for equipping daggers and light armour then pump everything into a really high dexterity stat and probably end up with better overall effectiveness.. thats generally based off character sheets and chris preistly's dwarf rogue (lvl 22 go check his profile if u havent seen it)

Only the foolish dwarves do that. Image IPB Don't judge dwarf stealth power on the bottom of the barrel.

I could imagine 2H weapons needing high str, but 1Hers shouldn't be too steep, & I would think they would only need some tertiary strength. Dwarf power should be able to cope. If not, then i'm only buggering just myself up. Image IPB

lol, true if not for Gimli the Fellowship would have failed. His axe felled QUITE A FEW Uruk-hai

Bare in mind though that Legolas took down a Mumakil (the giant elephant thing) and was always higher in the kill count.

I wish there was someway you could do something allong the lines of Co-op

strength is the stat that determines wether u can wield a weapon or not (or so i'v been told) therefore for high lvl weapons you need SOME strength, looking at the lvl 22 character on Priestly's profile who is using daggers and has 24 strength i think end game swords will take somewhere around 26+ strength, again it doesnt have to be alot but any points in strength is points you cant put in more useful stats.  besides if you use swords you dont get the damage bonus from dex so you have to pump either strength or cunning to get damage whilst keeping dex up for evasion and attack speed. splitting your points down the middle to me just seems like you will end up with a (admittedly slightly) less powerful character.

Remember you will more than likely need to put points into willpower for the stamina pool to use your skills, looking at Priestly's character (36 willpower at 22 whilst his cunning is only 28) im thinking that using your skills drains your pool quite quickly.

I could be wrong. If, for instance, swords did noticeably higher damage than daggers then they would make up for the stat splitting. But i think that dual wielding swords is more for warriors who want a high strength build anyway.

That's kind of a bummer. Image IPB What's the point of Dual Weapon Mastery if it's impossible to use it effectively on a rogue, who are traditional dual wielders. That's kinda nuts. Are the Ferelden Smiths crafting their weapons outta solid lead? Image IPB

im not saying its impossible, hell the closest i'v come to experiencing the game is the character creator so i dont actually know anything, all im saying is that looking around at the various information we have been given it seems to me that for rogues, dagger might be the way to go but frankly seeing as there have yet to be any releases on actual damage and speed of various weapons it could well be that im entirely wrong. that daggers just dont do enough base damage for the stats to balance out.. it all depends on how well balanced the game is and frankly, comming from bioware, i expect it will be done very well

the thing i am worried about is that you might have to have a lower willpower if you are using swords, making it harder to use lots of skills.. again game hasnt come out, i dont know how much you need to use skills or if your basic auto-attacks work well etc. etc. its jsut something to beware of that maybe it isnt a purely aesthetic decision.

True points indeed. I hope Dual Weapon Mastery & Str requirements don't clash with each other. It has yet to be seen how extensive stamina use is typically gonna be or if low Willpower can be viable. I hope so, because it's gonna be kinda hard for many specs to have high Willpower & still get other stats to needed levels for 4th tier skills.

I doubt it's common irl for 1H weapons to weigh more than 10 lbs, so it's odd for 1H str requirements to be so high. Wouldn't 1H weapons have typically been 2-8 lbs.? I admit i'm no historian or smith.

I've taken a look at Chris's lvl 22 character. The Dex & Cunning is sufficient to handle 4th tier stuff, & it looks like it might be possible to have a little less Willpower for a little more Str to handle the 1h Axes, so Dual Weapon Mastery + 1H Axes might not be outta the running! Image IPB

Big surprise... Dalish rogue with an eventual specialization in ranger. I'll focus on the bow, but see if I can put some points into two weapon fighting when he needs to engage in melee.

With enough cunning and willpower rogues (particularly bards) should be able to have multiple concurrent romances!

I've heard various intel that there isn't any level cap, but there is a limited supply of available experience, & the highest end game character level i've heard of is lvl 22.
