A really good RPG game should also offer some ordeal, a bit of real pain.
That's one reason why I love the Fade and the Deep Roads in DA:O.

They really deliver a claustrofobic sense of being trapped, respectively deep. And getting through and out is a grueling ordeal. Just as it should be!

You know me now. :)

I did not enjoy the Fade on my first walkthrough because I was too confused on where I was supposed to go or what I was supposed to do, but I loved the heck out of it on my second, third, fourth... fifth walkthrough. I can understand the complaints when it comes to graphics, but I think that particular secquence is a peak of creativity, and I wouldn't mind seeing something like it again. With less blur, of course.

I think the "fade experience" can be improved upon, but I certainly wouldn't want them to abandon something that is a pretty big part of the setting.

I would love to see the fade return if it is done in a more abstract and divers way then it was done in DAO and DA2.

The new engine has much more potential for that matter from what we have seen from it and hope that they will come up with a more inspired environment that combines the spirits peeks in the dreams of the people in Thedas with their own views.

The fade could return in a dream sequence of one of the characters. Not neccissarily as a main plot ingredient but side quest related. Especially if one of the characters has a connection with a spirit like the other characters in the previous games.

It would be interesting to see the spirits point of view either good or bad (positive or negative) regarding to Thedas.

I don't know anyone who enjoyed being in the fade for more than 60 seconds. In Origins, you were forced to be there for a very long time. In DA2, it was relatively quick and painless, but was only cool if you brought Anders along. It still looked like ass, though.

One of the big reasons why I hate the fade is because it's an eye sore. Seriously, the graphics and art direction for this place (where supposedly the Maker dwells) is some of the worst I've ever seen in a game. How on earth did the artists at Bioware think that this looked good in any way shape or form? Image IPB

So, please, Bioware... no more. Just stop.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The Fade portion of Origins is why I never played DA:O as many times as I have played DA2. I support the OP, and thanks for the laugh.

i didn't mind the Fade sequences all too much, but i have to say, visiting Apocrypha in Skyrim made me realize how much more interesting they could've made it visually...

I wouldn't mind another trip to the fade if they made it look more interesting. With the new engine it would be the perfect opportunity to really go all out with the "weirdness" factor in there.

I enjoyed the fade the first time around, so initially I could say I like the fade concept. Now when I play the fade in my 10th playthrough, it's a pain.... and I sprint through it. The deep roads however in Origins was awesome. DA2 just didn't wow me with the deep roads this time... just no real "awe" factor to me.

I totally agree and it would be interesting to see the characters have dreams/nightmares that reflect their identity.

Not neccessarily wimps....l think the majority who complained want everything basically handed to them when they play games.

My main problem with the Fade in DA:O was the tedium of it. It was interesting, different and engaging the 1st playthrough. On my 3rd playthrough, not so much. DA2 did it just right IMO by keeping it nice and short by comparison.

I don't mind if it's a short quest like in 2. But I would definitely prefer to avoid another multi-zoned hours-long Fade portion.

I'm sorry OP, I love the fade sequences and I'd want them to return. I understand the blur is there possibly to give the sense of being inside a dream world. I couldn't bear the eye strain though, and had to turn off frame buffer effects in origins. Anyway, I'm quite eager to see how the fade might look in the new engine.

That would be awesome! In Asunder they described the Fade's environment as something that changes depending on the characters dreams/nightmares/fears. So with that in mind it could shift and change in so many interesting and weird ways, that depending on who you took into the Fade with you, the environment and "dream" could be drastically different each time.

What ?

No absolutely not. DAO's fade sequence was one the best missions of th game IMHO. Completely original, with a shapeshifting mechanic that beat the magic shapeshifting of the main game by a million miles (turn into a bea.. argh dead while casting! ), with a way to see the original Warden fortress and everyone's dreams and to know an unsung hero of the mage tower...

DAA's fade was awesome with the best looking armor in the game and a new companion !

DA2's fade was also pretty fun, if short. I finally get to talk with Justice alone, get to see what is the price that would make a companion turn on me,, get to hear Isabella's "I love big boats.."

Fade sequences are a welcome break from the usual game grind, a way to see into the companion's subconscious and a way to see far away places and meet npcs we would not meet otherwise.

Please add more fade and a toggle switch for the big babies who can't handle it to "skip it".

No more *long* stretches in the Fade.

Try to make 'Fade' quests optional or brief. I really hate the DAO Fade section.

Nah I like the Fade. I'm actually hoping we'll see a lot more of it in DA3. Oh and the environment is suppose to be surreal. Just fyi. Or Origins was and it did a admirable enough job, DA2 was just blur and color filter. Which was just sad.

Hmm. I guess the concensus is that there is no concensus. If they do more Fade sections in DA3 we players will either love it or endure it. Que sera, sera.

I read Asunder too! :o

I would love something like that.   And there should be funny moments mixed in but I'll post that in Cullen thread,

since the fade is a plane that is ever changing and shifting, i'd like to see more surreal and fantastical landscapes.
