No more "Fade" sequences. Ever.

I think the obvious solution is to have puzzle levels (since they're fun,) but make them short or skippable.

Saying we should never see it suggests a lack of imagination. I imagine it can be quite spectacular, and until then, I wouldn't suggest they stop trying.

Yeah, the only solution to aesthetic issues with the Fade is to delete it entirely. After all, it would be totally implausible to change the look of an alternate plane of existence governed by demons and magic. Noboby would ever buy that a literal dream world could ever look different.

I think Bioware just needs to let their imaginations go wild and go seriously surreal with the Fade/Beyond. It makes too much sense, it needs to be at least like a painting by Salvador Dali.

That said, I like the fade for the "get into your head" bits. I don't think my Warden cared much about the blight being over and going to Weisshaupt, but the companions nightmares or their temptations in DA2 I thought was really cool to see. Anything to get to know them and their motivations a bit more. I think seeing someone's worst fears, or their dreams or regrets, is interesting. The fade is good for that.

Rage - simply attack you, the more powerfull ones will try to instigate wars (blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne kind of thing).
Sloth - will try to screw you over by tempting you to take the easy way. the masters of disguise thing should defeintely come into play, like while traveling through the fade you discover all your companions are actualy sloth demons.
Desire - tempt you ofcourse, not only in the obvious way, and not always with your knowledge.
etc...

I can see how someone would find it tedious and want to avoid it, but I guess I'm not one of those people.

Oh, and while we're talking about the Fade in DA2, I just want to mention how they wasted some potential right there - yeah, yeah, the whole entirety of DA2 was just wasted potential, but let me ramble about this one thing anyway. Radical idea: How about not making your companion just turn against you no matter what? You know, make it so that if you've built up a relationship to that character they won't betray you. Come on, even my LI turned against me. This is why the relationships and everything Hawke does in DA2 feel so unimportant and inconsequential. If you give us some nobody as a protagonist who doesn't really do anything world-changing throughout the game, at least allow us to have some noticeable impact on the people around him. Jesus christ.
That one turned out much longer than I intended.

Well here's someone for you. I liked the fade sequences in DAO, DAA, and DA2.EpicBoot2daFace wrote...
I don't know anyone who enjoyed being in the fade for more than 60 seconds.
As someone who has mostly mage Wardens in DAO and always goes into the fade to save Connor, I've gone into the fade a lot. I like the concept of the fade, and in DAO specifically, I did like the departure from normal gameplay. I'm on PC and I do not use a mod to skip the fade. Having played it so many times, my actions are somewhat rote now, so like many aspects of DAO, it has become "something to get through" more than anything else, particularly since my completionist playstyle requires me to get all of the bonus stat points available.
I have the same feeling about the Deep Roads.
With DA2 specifically, although the environment was somewhat lacking -- although this can be excused away by saying that it was based on Feynriel's surroundings, especially one who was forced into the Circle -- I found it interesting because you get to see how demons manipulate people: your companions, particularly those who should know better (Merrill), or those who might think they are beyond such tricks or not have a complete understanding as a non-mage (Fenris); in addition to Feynriel, all have varying responses to being in the fade, and none save Justice are immune to the demons' charms.
The main reason I liked it was because it gives the player another perspective on mages. This actually is one reason I choose to take Fenris into the fade. I find it unfortunate that we can't have a more involved conversation about it, as you can with Merrill.
All of that aside, I would like for the fade to be presented differently in the next game. For the areas to be more dream-like, have less of a physical "ground" to stand on, or to be more of a delusionary departure from reality, especially for non-mages who enter the fade. I would also like to see more "friendly" spirits.

The problem with the Fade in DA:O is that it was too static, and required too much back-tracking. I'd hope that Bioware, now that they apparently have a more capable game engine to work with, will take a look at Skyrim's DLC''s, especially the Apocrypha in Dragonborn.
Apocrypha definitely made me think of the fade, and something like that would be the way to go

For DA 2 I can't even remember the sequence with the Fade at all...that kinda says a lot.
If they do have it in Inquisition I'd like to see it a bit more fleshed out. More to interact with, more puzzles, spirits you can talk to etc.

I don't know anyone who enjoyed being in the fade for more than 60 seconds. In Origins, you were forced to be there for a very long time. In DA2, it was relatively quick and painless, but was only cool if you brought Anders along. It still looked like ass, though.
One of the big reasons why I hate the fade is because it's an eye sore. Seriously, the graphics and art direction for this place (where supposedly the Maker dwells) is some of the worst I've ever seen in a game. How on earth did the artists at Bioware think that this looked good in any way shape or form?
So, please, Bioware... no more. Just stop.
Well, now you know one. Me. I loved the fade in DA:O, and would love a similar fade experience. Plus I also liked the look of it.
So, please, Bioware... more. Continue.
agree on that really like the fade OP has no idea what he's talking about

If your system is lagging and you click rapidly enough, you can get them several times each. Which brings me to why my level 15 Arcane Warrior has a Cunning Score that rivals that of my level 24 Assassins.
