Actually... I'd say Scarlet is a bit of a BA, just being held back by the manifest.
Just doing games with randoms with only 2 medigel available is a pain.

I'm owning silver up with my second account Lord_Sembor. Take a look. I'm not stroking my electric dick here, I'm just saying that PUGging silver with only two gels doesn't have to be a pain.

I was talking about when I first started out, not a second account =P

then the correct thing to say would be: "Just doing games with randoms with no skill is a pain." but yeah, I know what you mean. but scarlet even said she (/he?...) has already played on another account before.

sorry for dicking around here, I'm not trying to make anyone mad.

wat

Look, she's saying that the AIU is allowing her to play Gold. If she continues to play Gold on the AIU, she'll eventually get good enough to play Gold on with characters that aren't the AIU.

I started only being able to play Gold either camping on FBW/G/G, or playing as a Kroguard. Those are both two very easy ways to play Gold. Now, I can use whatever character I want, on whatever difficulty I want, with whatever gun I want.

No. Playing a kit that's just as powerful, and MUCH more forgiving does NOT make you play "better", which would ultimately lead to you being able to play other kits on Gold.

This, playing a VARIETY of kits, with a VARIETY of weapons forces you to become a better overall player. Its the VARIETY to does it. And that variety is essentially made worthless by the TGI 2.0 Posted Image

I'm saying what I did and how I did it, and it worked for me, and i'm going to go ahead and say that it'll work for Scarlet.

I disagree.

Players are either able - or not able - to play Gold. No Kit is a magic Win Button. Seasoned and skilled players interpret a class' skills as usable by an expert player. But - that is not how unskilled or unseasoned players use them.

Hence, the abundance of Warlord Synch-Kills, and abundance of AIU's dying in a sea of enemies (and being synch-killed) in the last week.

What the kits primarily provide is a crutch to get past short-comings in your manifest - they still require skill or knowledge to use.

The AIU helps me move around the area without too much worry of being snuck up on, She lets me maunver and get used to tactics on Gold Diffiulty, rather than stay in Silver, never to play Gold Difficulty with my favorite characters because it was "too challenging".

The AIU is a very good starter character for an inexperienced Gold player! ^.^

suck it. I ****ing hate the AIU.

Right, so what was the first char you brought into gold?

My favorite characters are Biotic anyway, and I tried playing my Fury on Gold once, It didn't turn out so well with only 2 Medigel. :/

In some ways, it does make you better ready to play on Gold. I agree that playing a diverse amount of kits is the best way to improve your skills. However, starting out with a powerful character on Gold will get you used to the enemy composition, and their damage output/attack patterns. Not to mention, upgrading your equipment and consumables to decent levels will also help make Gold easier to play though.

Okay, glad then I didn't start with a snarky remark. I personally started with the SI which was as crutch as you can get back in the days.

Ettiquette, my dear boy, ettiquette.

Also, if your teammates stand next to you to get a grenade thrown near you while disabling a device. An Ops pack does quite nicely.

nono, I play exclusively gold with my main account, I totally get the benefits of having full consumables and using them. but I have as much consumables as I can take into a game, so why buy another JEP?

EDIT: also, I don't think you can use Ops packs while disabling?...

Before or after.

I've blocked more than a few grenades with some pretty close timing.

Why is it PUGs literally have to stand on you while one disables?

Yeah, but if you just finish as that grenades beeping, well, you have to ops pack as there's no time to get away.

I don't mind their being a few crutch kits to help players get used to newer difficulties. The TGI and Kroguard were enough though, the AIU takes it way too far and will probably lead to players learning bad habits and so forth.

You people sicken me. The first page and a half is all about childish references to sex. Grow up people.

Now then Scarlet, congrats on the AIU. Hopefully it works out well for you. It should be a good intro into gold for you in terms of getting used to its spawns, damage control and team work. Dont let nay sayers tell you how to play your account. If it works for you then play it that way (so long as it doesnt go against terms of service).

Gold is a harrowing experience the first handful of times no matter what character you play with. Even AIU can only sugar coat the death process. A lesser experienced player will still feel like and be deadweight to his or her advanced teammates.

Personally, I love the concept of the AIU. It's for those randoms that have no interest in playing as a team and run off by themselves only to get killed. At least this way, those selfish PUGs can actually contribute to the team by distracting hordes of enemies while dying and reviving multiple times.

In terms of helping someone acclimate to gold, I can see that being a legitimate argument in favor of the repair matrix. It's not always the skill of the single player that determines the outcome of a gold match--it's the team cohesion, weapons, and gear equipped by all. Scarlet, as long as you have a good team backing you and some good weapons/equipment, you'll be just fine in a gold match. You'll pick up experience along the way.

This. The Kroguard was limited in damage to some degree, and the TGI was arguably limited do to the AR class generally underperforming compared to others. (exception of UR`s). EDIbots for some unknown reason has stimpacks 2.0, snap freeze as an excellent dubuffer, and a tac cloak that for some ungodly reason boosts SHOTGUNS. A "crutch kit" is not necessarily a bad thing, but a crutch kit that outperforms the vast majority of kits IS.

Well, you actually CAN do silver solo with cabal and Talon...

The cabal only needs LOTS of practice to use and the Talon needs debugging of the Armor- piercing arrow (and a shield buff)
The Armor-piercing arrow on a melee build does considerable damage (really, tried him on Gold on FB Glacier once), but the biggest problem is that for some reason it LOVES to simply NOT SHOOT the damn arrow. Then you stand in front of a Geth trooper like an idiot, hammering the Melee buttton and hoping that the basic enemy drops dead before you do so...

Sometimes it does fine (and does good damage, really), but most of the time it makes you want to flip tables

SO, what the Talon needs to be actually of any use:

-) 50% additional damage for the arrows (both of them), that would be already enough

-) Debugging of the fire control, 80% of the reasons why you drop dead is that your armor-piercing arrows are simply NOT SHOT and you stand there with an aimed bow like an idiot and hope that some teammate saves your digital bacon

-) Adding more shields... Seriously, this isn't a melee infiltrator like the N7 shadow that it can afford THAT low defenses, it is a class that gets shot at.
Amount of shields... just use the same values as the batarian brawler, that should do fine since it is supposed to be a melee build (arrows won't do much damage otherwise)
