If you go with giving Morrigan Sleep as Addai67 suggests, then don't forget the spell combinations Casting Sleep then Horrror on a target has a much more damaging effect than either on its own.

I think you mean Walking Nightmare?  Yes, that is amusing.  Posted Image  For those unfamiliar, Sleep puts all enemies in a large area to sleep until someone attacks them.  Walking Nightmare makes them turn on their buddies and enemies start fighting each other, though some will still attack you.  I am not sure... does Walking Nightmare rob the XP you would otherwise get for killing those enemies?

I personally am fond of the Grease + Fireball spell combination.  When I had a PC mage, I ran with Morrigan a lot and gave her Grease while I had Fireball.  It made certain battles, as Morrigan would say, "toooo easy!"

Is that the name for it? The Wiki just calls it Nightmare, but whichever... As for whether you lose the XP... I'm not sure. I guess maybe if you don't deal the killing blow, but I've not actually used that combo - I just mentioned it because you mentioned Sleep.

Yes I'm also fond of the grease+fireball combo, though this works with Flame Blast as well as Fireball. I've also tried the Winter's Grasp (or Cone of Cold) + some kind of massive damage (Shale's Slam ability, perhaps, or Stone Fist).

Anyway, the bottom line is remember the combos to get the most out of your spells.

I'm not new to this type of game, so I have been trying some of the suggestions already, but thanks, you guys have helped a lot. I should be able to get back in the game soon. But before I do:

I thought I had one conversation where they said Lothering was destroyed. Will I still be able to go back there?

Morrigan isn't at a high enough level for some of the spells you guys suggest. I got her 'heal' and 'glyph' so far. I always liked 'grease' in NWN, so I see that grease with a fireball will really be nice.

I'll try some of the DLC but it appears something is screwed up with my account. The DLC codes I've redeemed show up in my account, but not in my downloads. My info is being uploaded to my account and EA has not gotten back to me after I gave them all the info they needed to manually fix the problem. Until it's fixed, I can't look for Shale.

In some games a Rogue gets two handed advantages if he only uses smallish weapons like two daggers. At least according to the stats, it doesn't appear that's true here. I've tried both an axe and longsword in my primary hand and a dagger in the offhand and the stats seem to show the most damage with the longsword and dagger, but the longsword alone is almost as good.

I always try to find a corner to fight in and I've set several traps to help, but they just walk around them.

Thanks for all the help.

Lothering stays open until you gain your first allied army (by completing a treaty quest or Redcliffe/Urn). Then it is overrun by the darkspawn and is unavailable afterwards.

For an excellent analysis of the dual wield rogue read this:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/66/index/223777

Edit: there are other very good analyses in the character builds forum for other classes, too. Just try to get a variety of opinions, and remember that you can modify what you find out to suit your party, your playstyle, your idea of fun.

ooo. that was a hard fight for me too. I would suggest turning down the difficulty some :-/ the bandits tend to be as hard as some boss fights(unless you happen to have good area effect spells such as fireball.) There isn't much else I can do to help you aside from repeating earlier advice that you can leave anywhere in denerim from the map.
btw the easiest way to get sten is to first get the red headed rogue in your party, then speak to the mother, after speaking to sten. Also daggers give you auto criticals when postioned behind the target :-) two daggers equal 2x the backstabs.
