So come the start of the third chapter of HotU, despite having had Valen and Deekin in my party throughout most of the second chapter.... for some reason, at the start of the third, I can only choose to summon Nathyrra and Valen to help me.  Deekin is not an option.  Why?  Is there any way to fix this?

I'm playing a version of Diamond gotten from GoodOldGames.

A variable needs to be reset, probably on the module. 

The easiest resolution is just to reload from the last save of Ch 2 and hope the variable sets properly the next time.  Hopefully, it was just a case that the variable transfer was botched and it didn't mess up earlier in the previous chapter. (I am assuming you are updated to v1.69 via the critical rebuild since many of the content gliches were addressed by that version.)

Try posting this in the Scripting forum where those who have the expertise and time to scour the module(s) to figure out what value is needed may be willing to do the research for you. Then the console may be used in-game to make the repair.   This forum is dedicated to solving installation and performance issues with the game operation itself, not repairing those pertaining to a specific module.

You said you used Deekin for most of chapter 2. The important thing is, was Deekin in your party at the very end of chapter 2? That is what determines who you can summon, I believe.

Sry, Empyre.   Doesn't work that way.  All that is needed is enlisting each of the 3 henchies (that's 3 assuming that Deekin was at the Halaster rescue in Ch 1. else it is just Valen & Nathyrra appearing).

I do it all the time.  I use Valen & Nathyrra as pack mules to tote all my vast loot collection into Ch 3 to get the elite sales prices there.  Sometimes I will bring Valen into the final battle, sometimes not.  Both of them still appear on the reaper list of companions.

It also doesn't matter if both henchies in the massive battle are killed before the Valsharess encounter.  The applicable variables get set upon the enlistment procedure and SHOULD be there when the reaper convo occurs.  Something must have gliched for the OP. It's happened to me once IIRC.  I sometimes have a problem jump-starting the next module during the Valsharess finale (probably a graphics issue) and that will screw up the module load occasionally, so must replay the entire end battle again to restore status quo.

TBH, I have only used henchmen once in HotU, with my archer. Every time before, I soloed it. I did enjoy the interactions between Deekin and Daelen and then Valen.

Me,too...  for the most part.  Basically, I'll let Deekin develop Lasting Inspiration song to help with skill checks & such, then dismiss him from party.  Indispellable buffs are handy in spots.  Deekin+Aribeth interactions are pretty funny, too. The author of Deekin's convo is very talented.  Probably could have done stand-up in RL.
