You speak about the Catalyst in the title but then you talk about disliking what the Catalyst brings to the story in the thread, so could you be more specific?

Do you like the character itself and think it is a neat concept?  Further, do you fully agree with its logic?

from what ive' gatherd he's hated cause he has muscels and isn't "man Pretty"

No one is a pretty a Grrus with all the love he gets.

rules work diffrent for aliens, There's always been a biased against the male human squadmates, hell people used to say Zaeed was boring and a waste of a slot too

I don't know why he is so hated. He's just an AI. And at least he gave us some answers.

Do you like people who bring bad news?

What bad news did the Catalyst bring?

"Hey.. You want use the crucible to beat the reapers...Here's what going to happen...And they areall morally horrible things...."

Not like I'm upset I had to pick form them, it's just that I can understand why some one would be angry at the guy bring the news.

I do like it, though I dislike the creative decision concerning its presentation: namely taking the young boy's form.

Agreed, but it misconstrued it's programming and started harvesting people to make pets, and turned the galaxy into an experimental farm. I like that it was explained in Leviathan, which let me accept it as a "character", but I hate the mother****er. Not for the same reasons as eveyone else, but because I actually hate the character and what it did.

I like the Catalyst as a character. I don't necessarily agree with its logic. But I know it isn't lying.

I like him as much as any other character that comes out of nowhere: not at all.

Technicaly all characters come out of nowhere.

True, or they are inspired from other stories.  Still, I think he means in the sense that it wasn't properly foreshadowed.

It was hinted at from Thessia. They need to make things clearer.

And it stops there. As soon as the mission on Thessia is over nobody mentions it again or even looks into it. By the time I meet the Catalyst that hint is long forgotten, so he might as well have not been hinted towards at all.

What the hell is this obsession about foreshadowing? Read books people! Constant foreshadowing is only for those who can't take sudden twists, turns, revelations and surprises in a story. Forced foreshadowing does not equal good story telling. Why would you foreshadow the Crucible and the Intelligence in a trilogy where the plot develops slowly and reveals more and more, slowly as you go. Also it would be ridiculous if the darkest and most well kept secret of the reapers could have been foreshadowed just like that. Leviathan (even if it was added to the story later) and Vendetta's speculation and some occurences where they mention the Cycle etc. is foreshadowning enough.

Thats some thing i never got about the Catalyst hate, It's logic may be bad, and you don't disagree, but your not suposed to, if they thought you'd agree with the Catalyst they would of given you a "you have convince me reap away" option

Aha, I wouldn't claim things like this, this boldly if I had the MEHEM banner in my signature. Also it's a stupid, biased statement full of butthurt towards the ending and the lack of understanding for people being different with different tastes. Very close minded and ridiculous if you ask me.

Well, technically there is now. Refuse. But it was more added for the "I hate the Nadine's forever and always and will whine about it forever and always" crowd, so they didn't have to pick one of the original options.

"man Pretty"?!

For me he just does not seem to fit in a role with the squad of ME. We already have a Grunt. Also every single dialogue is just annoying. Bioware could have introduced a much more creative character to take his spot with a better backstory. I would have loved to have the British guy (Coates?). Vega just feels like a generic soldier needed on the frontlines, not in a special Shepard Earth saving squad. He could have done better being Anderson's brute on Earth imo.

Except if he was just following his programming anything that is not a solution (that means does not solve the problem for which he was created) is not something he would keep doing.  And since you believe him, then when he says his solution (the reapers) no longer works, he should stop using them immediately.  If, as you say, he is a straight up computer or shackled AI that must solve this problem, then he would discard something that does not solve it and he has done so in the past.  He says he has-every solution he's come up with has failed.  However, this logic device keeps on trying to make the reapers solve the problem if Shepard refuses to make a choice.  This makes zero sense.

A computer programmed to find the solution to an equation will not keep trying to make something that is not the solution be the solution.

The Catalyst like the Crucible was introduced terribly.

But I dislike the Catalyst because it's the symbol of my biggest problem with the ending, it robbed me of my sense of accomplishment as far as finishing my journey. I didn't defeat the reapers, didn't achieve victory. The enemy saved me and ALLOWED me to prevail.

Then it contradicts its own line of reasoning. It says you standing there is proof that its solution no longer works. But you're only there because it saved you. It lets you die, it's see you in 50,000 years.

So much went wrong when it showed itself, so it's pretty much the symbol of all that's wrong with the ending for me.

Didn't like the kids iteration at any point in the game.

As the catalyst made me hate him retro-actively even more.

Ah, Star-Jar Binks. The Catalyst will forever be known as the Mass Effect version of Jar-Jar Binks.
