No, I'm not talking dual wielders. I'm talking giving a rogue a two handed weapon and watching them backstab with it.
It's a little gem I found out about and I couldn't find any forums where people discussed so I thought I'd post my experiences.
Benefits:
Backstabbing with a Two Hander is amazing. I find The Dragon Bone Cleaver with Warden Commander Armor is a frightening combo, even in Origins.
Frees up your skills so you don't waste them on Weapon Training, and you can devote more of them to Coercion, Thievery, Trap making, Poison, and Herbalism.
Lets you fill up your non weapon based Rogue Talents early game, allowing you max out Lockpick, Stealth, and get talens like Coup De Grace and Lethality as soon as you can.
Frees up more talents to devote to your specializations.
If you go more Strength than Cunning, you can wear heavy armor and still have high evasion.
Negatives:
Your only combat attack powers are Below The Belt and Deadly Strike, though you still deal Two Hander Damage with both, aside from Dirty Fighting, which with Coup De Grace lets you get some solid crits on enemies, your still fairly limited to what your Rogue can do. Essentially your best bet is still pairing with a warrior while you cut people in half from behind.
You don't get all the awesome sustain abilities from either the Bow or Dual Wielding Tree like Momentum or Aim. You have to be satisfied that your rogue isn't going to be a fast mover but a heavy hitter.
Finally, you cap out on talents you can actually give your Rogue around 23, then you kind of HAVE to put talent points into the weapon trees, unless you have mods to eat up those extra points.
In the end though, I feel like this build is way more fun than any Dual Wielder or Bow Rogue. It creates a unique experience for players looking to do more than wield daggers and makes your guy a master of stealth and lockpicking, traps and poisons.

Very interesting as an alternative play style. What Specializations did you use?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Primary specialization was Bard, Song of Valor is kind of necessary for the build to work, you need the extra attack value, damage, and crit chance. For that same reason Duelist is another good choice, since it'll make you harder to hit and make sure you have a better chance of hitting. You can also go with Assassin, if you fit more towards Cunning than Strength.
The Third specialization is a bit iffy, I was at first gonna make him a Legionaire Scout, because of the first talent (+10 STR and Con), but then I found out the Third Talent in Shadow is a 50% bonus to backstab damage which....lets be honest here with a two hander that's just amazing, so I went with that.

Lol, after reading this post, I actually reloaded one of my saves and checked this out. The backstab animation with a 2H weapon is a new one, albeit weird. This build would be quite fun for someone who's looking for unconventional ways of doing things.

It looks a bit like a Katana cut, I think anyway. And yeah, unconventional has always been my style, when I saw the animation the first time my mouth dropped and I had this **** eating grin the entire day.

I'm playing DAO again after a 1-2 year hiatus. I tried something similar back then but used sword and shield. That build was more defense oriented. The two handed build mentioned here never occured to me so I'm going to try it out.

Yeah, I actually figured this out by putting a shield on my Rogue once and watching the backstab animation go off. It floored me for a moment. It was nothing I'd ever considered, in fact I'd always assumed Rogues just could not wield either shields or Two handers. But lo and behold, I was wrong.

Konous,
How high did you raise your strength number?
Thanks.

Well I had two builds. The Bard Assassin and the Bard Duelist. I have the ultimate edition so my items were a bit high end but this is the long and short of it.
Bard/Duelist
STR 40(52 or so after items) Essentially, you want enough Strength to carry the Warden Commander's Armor even after its been upgraded.
After that the stats go kind of like this
Dex 23 (40 or so after items)
Will 20
Magic 12
Cunning 36(50 after items)
Constitution 10
Bard/Assasin
Str 36( 46 after items)
Dex 25 (high 40's)
Willpower 20
Magic 12
Cunning 50 (62 after items)
Constitution 10
These numbers aren't exact, but if you want to go more Strength, you kind of forsake Dex in the process, until the later section of the game when you want to qualify for Awakening abilities like Flicker. Also, the heavy Cunning route loses a lot of attack rate and defense that your character kind of needs when swinging around a two hander like this.
