After a second cup of coffee, I have to ask if the OP is going to be putting a strain on Alistair's "Self Replenishing Kleenex Box of Doom" ™?

Please tell me you have copyrighted that. I don't think I'd give that one up for a second.

You're his child! You are his pup! What's wrong with that? It's like King Triton calling Ariel a girl then Ariel shouting "I'm 16 years old im not a child". Which proves her immaturity IMO... Every parent treats you like a child 'til you prove them wrong...

Ridiculous statement to make. "Your level 1 warrior is NOT a badass".

Mate, he's anything i want him to be.

And by choosing the human noble  origin, you decided that he was going to be a human noble... specifically, the son of the Teryn of Highever.

Which, again,  doesn't make you a badass.   It makes you  the pampered,  spoiled son of a badass.   Or "Pup" as  daddy calls you.  You have to *earn* any other status.

But hey, look on the bright side,    You're in ferelden,  a place where dogs are actually  respected and treated as equals.  I imagine in this game, Pup is a decent compliment.

I decided to try a noble human tank, tatooted his face black, and called him Masseur, only to find out that my father, the second most noble guy in the kingdom, calls me pup in front of that baddass Howe.

Am I missing something?  While I personally appreciate good massage skills, I didn't think they were generally perceived as highly masculine.

It's a language thing, actually;-) My mother tongue's expression for masseur is colloquially used to describe a muscular ass-kicking badass. No-one thusly described gets called pup, unless the describer is asking for a, uh, massage? Funny how some things don't translate, isn't it. "Pup," unfortunately, does.

Aha!   Maybe that's why the first thing Howe  does when you enter the room is to try and set you up with his Daughter...

I decided to roll my first badass male warrior only too find out that my father, calls me "Pup",  "Pup" ffs. Granted i can see this dialogue working if my chosen character was female, even if she too was a badass - whole father daughter thing etc. But form an RPing perspective it's cringeworthy and totally destroys any immersion whilst interacting with the father.

The human noble is pretty young, based on their dialogue, having not proved themselves yet. Daughters aren't the only one's who's fathers have nicknames for them that they may not prefer, I assure you. It doesn't matter how badass you are, you're always a kid to your parents.

Maker forbid a man daring to show affection to his son in this game! Do you feel insulted in your masculinity?

It's always depressing to see the results of the FPS-macho-culture when they are actually exposed to a game with some depth and believable characters like this one...
Xbox 360... paint me not one bit surprised.

Especially if "massage" is a euphemism. Then those boots with the extremely high heels really help walking tall :D

Heh, I thought that was only for a daughter and for a guy he'd say "sport" or "son" or something. I do think that as a male I'd be rolling my eyes, but maybe that is what your character is supposed to do.

Robert that line is PURE GOLD!

I'll have to make a mod that puts a kleenex box next to Allister in camp with that name.  LOL

It can go right next to the "Neverending Wheel of Cheese" for his whine....

Apparently from this topic he would roll his eyes then put a knife in his gut. It's just a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Wow makes me worry what you'd call your kids... I mean it's a father showing affection towards his child and it's obvious your a favorite. Pup is an affectionate term just as dear, sweetie, sport etc. It's not meant to belittle someone. If he wanted to belittle you the inflection when saying pup would be different. Or he could call you churl.

I would agree that the OP's problem with the nickname "pup" shows more of his character.

He sounds like a petulant, rebellious pre-teen.

I'd download that mod, that's what originally sparked the phrase, I suggested they add one to his spot in camp. Posted Image

Your rant would be relevant had i ever played more than one FPS, so aye, carry on with the assumptions as that's what you do best i see.  If you stop with the inane assumptions then maybe I'll actually take the time out to respond in a civil manner.  Oh noes - someone dislikes a certain segment of a game I soooooooo love, so lets insult them with my petty school playground rhetoric!

I do believe, old chap, that makes me a hypocrite.  Oh, well...
