Or he could call you churl.
Yes, I have thought about making a human noble named Pup as well.

Maker forbid a man daring to show affection to his son in this game! Do you feel insulted in your masculinity?
It's always depressing to see the results of the FPS-macho-culture when they are actually exposed to a game with some depth and believable characters like this one...
Xbox 360... paint me not one bit surprised.

Badass muvverfrakker or no, a father can only ever see his own child as exactly that, a child.
Contrary to what you may believe, this is not what the OP said, or rather, is not all that the OP said. OPTinmachine wrote...

Err, I think that the OP's point was that the word "pup" made the story feel like having little depth and not very believable character, actually, not that it made him feel less masculine.
On my first ever playthrough with a noble girl, it felt all right. When I came back, knowing what an evil place the gaming world is, and had this huge tatooed PC stand there in one room with Howe, and then heaaring the father, a fighter hero and noble, call his kid a "pup"... it stroke me as not exactly the thing a sensible nobleman in Ferelden would do, yes?
