Mass Effect fans are too disparate a group, it would be impossible for Bioware to please everyone all the time.

I would imagine that this DLC in particular will please a lot of BSN, though.

As long as there is a plot device which gives the Normandy reason to dock the Citadel, other than wanting to play poker, I am a happy man.

And the "say Normandy!" crap needs to be optional.

I read that whole thing in Martin Sheen's voice after you said disparate...

Haha! So did I XD :P.

Anyway, I really  REALLY like the look of the DLC, being with some of your old squad again, interacting with them...right now, that's all I care about <3, the rest of the DLC looks awesome too of course :wizard:

Shepard also ended conflict between Quarians and Geth, saved the Krogan from the Genophage, found the Leviathan, took back Omega, and other things. He deserves a drink in a casino and a movie to watch.

Shepard clearly DOESN'T deserve it before the actual war is over.
That's what most intelligent and logical fans would think.

So fans who want this and are looking forward to it are not intelligent?

You heard it here, folks. Soldiers don't deserve R&R until the war is over.

They're soldiers on a mission for a reason: to protect and to serve their countries and their friends until the very last moment. R&R is just insulting while they know many other people are suffering and dying over the world. This party is a big joke and shouldn't even exist unless it happens after the endings, which won't happen.

Just a few words removed applies to every major war fought on this planet.

US GIs were kicking it up...but then you watch Schindler's List...hard to imagine.

You couldn't be taking this more out of context.

Humans vs. humans, where you KNOW the enemy is going to be fatigued and need rest as much as you will, then R&R is certainly an option.

But when you're fighting a giant robotic army that's hellbent on wiping out everything that moves and does not rest, sleep, eat or stop, explain how you can?

It's completely in context, because while they may be robots, humans aren't. Soldiers in real life don't take R&R because of the nature of the enemy, they take R&R because otherwise their bodies or minds would break down. Last I checked, that still applies in Mass Effect.

If you're talking about pictures outside of the original promo shot that has Miranda and Wrex with the ME3 squad and that horrible mock up that Tully Ackland posted, can you provide a link? Those are the only two I know of, and neither really inspires confidence that they'll actually be a part of the plot of this DLC.

Well, there's this.

I'd say the chances of ME2 squadmates participating on the mission are not good but hope dies last.

People questioning the idea of R&R have never been in the military.

Anderson is in london, getting his people killed, facing reapers lasers and indoctrination, hiding in a dirty bunker, needing that shepard army ASAP, and he suddenly wants shepard to watch movies, play the piano, and party ?.

This is utterly inconsistent with ME3 story, where my shepard took a couple naps and felt guilty about it. This in ME2 would have been a wonderfull set piece, If this victory would have been AFTER they get the victory I would be clapping and throwing money at them. Buy they took some fanservice, they got everybody out of charcater, they retconed the reapers apparently, and now we have to fight heath ledger's mistery boss.

Conspiracy to kill shepard ?, well, I guess they failed, because my shepard is alive in some ruble in london, victim of Biowares inability to finish properly a story we loved for years, and now crumbles in cheesiness and nonsese in the name of fanservice aimed  for people that loved the ending.

Cheesy? Sure it is. Inconsistent with ME3 story? Yes it looks this way ,though maybe (0.01% of probability) they found some ingenious excuses - it is just trailer and you never know. Fanservice - yup, 100%. And actually this is why it is as good as it gets. See, as someone who really hates ME3 ending i have to say that this DLC looks like something really awesome. Why is that given that i agree with all your points ,you might ask?
Bioware have been saying for half a year that they will not do anything with the ending. Trilogy is over and sadly it ends the way it does - unless you use mods or headcanon..
This DLC is the last chance to spend time with ME characters, hopefully especially with those that got too little screen time in ME3. People (me included) asked for this. It also adds some kind of semihub that ME3 lacked. Again, people asked for this. Hopefully ,it has adequate story - because people asked for this after Omega. Hopefully, it will not drown in auto-dialogue - because people asked for that too.
Again,it is as good as you can get given the refusal to touch endings. I see no reason to take apart or reject last chance to say goodbye to ME trilogy and squad. Unless of course actual content of this DLC will relly suck.

Getting sleep/rest and nutrients is required to keep going - gambling and having a party is not. *I* certainly wouldn't be doing this if Earth was being annihilated.

Have to admit, I, like others, do have a nagging concern that this will be more about heartwarming moments and fond farewells than the actual plot. Whilst nice in it's own way, it might feel out of place, especially in the face of the grim, millions being butchered, civilisation collapsing theme of the game as a whole. So, whilst I'm certainly not against that content being there, I hope it's not the primary focus of the DLC.

Still, given the size of it, I'm inclined to think there's a lot more to it than the trailer showed, so still looking forward to it.
