You couldn't be taking this more out of context.

Humans vs. humans, where you KNOW the enemy is going to be fatigued and need rest as much as you will, then R&R is certainly an option.

But when you're fighting a giant robotic army that's hellbent on wiping out everything that moves and does not rest, sleep, eat or stop, explain how you can?

It's completely in context, because while they may be robots, humans aren't. Soldiers in real life don't take R&R because of the nature of the enemy, they take R&R because otherwise their bodies or minds would break down. Last I checked, that still applies in Mass Effect.

Getting sleep/rest and nutrients is required to keep going - gambling and having a party is not. *I* certainly wouldn't be doing this if Earth was being annihilated.

Wow...so I guess the US military has it all wrong...

World War II...kind of a big deal.

I wonder how well this DLC will play out in non-romance situations with Shep's old crew. Because as happy as I am for [_____]-mancer, that's what I'm personally interested in: banter with old comrades.

That, and the motivation behind this conspiracy, which could still be interesting.Though, now I'm expecting the leader of the assassination attempt to light a mountain of credit chits on fire.

Or the fact that up until the Reaper invasion, Anderson was stationed on the Citadel. Meaning he obviosly lived somewhere on it. And I'm assuming a high ranking military offical could afford a pretty desent place. And as you pointed out, he is stuck on Earth. So why not let Shepard and Co. use it, seeing as how neither one of them is likely to survive past the next few hours? Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die.

I'm sure Shep and crew will have a well deserved, fantastic time.  Just be sure not to turn on the news before popping in Fleet and Flotila.  Don't want to ruin the mood.

Exacty. If your going into a fight that will that you and many people you care about will likely never return from (which is pretty much every misison, in Shepard's case), how would you spend your few remaining hours? Reminiscing with old friends and comrades and trying to remember the reaons why you are fighting? Or brooding over the thousands you could do nothing to save and likely millions more that will perish, despite your best efforts? I know which one I'd pick.

This trailer has a "It's about the journey and not the destination" vibe. Hmmm...

Shepard clearly DOESN'T deserve it before the actual war is over.
That's what most intelligent and logical fans would think.

(snip)

You shouldn't compare real life events to science fiction, specially when the Reapers are so much stronger than real life elements.

OK... first it's bad because it isn't "intelligent and logical." Then you're told the RW works like this, and now it's bad because science fiction wouldn't do this?

I could pull a couple of DS9 clips, or Wing Commander 3 clips if we want to stay with gaming. But there's no point; it's obvious that you're just flailing around trying to find something that sounds like an argument when all you've actually got is an emotional reaction

I'd like to see the moments after that picture was taken...as Jack throws down a Shockwave to remove Liara & little miss "Shepard...don't forget about those unread messages...or I'll remind you...again & again..." Chick off the couch. Then elbows Tali & knees Miranda in her gut while vaulting over the back & into the seat next to HER man. And finally glances over at that robot-blow-up-doll and flips her off in case she started getting any ideas.

CLEARLY he underestimates the payload of my "headcanon"

This was a nice idea but why does Shepard look so stiff?  It looks like someone just copy pasted figures from outside references onto a couch.  Everyone spaced 2' apart on the couch (even Joker + Edi).   Seriously.

I'd like to have seen it be more like an actual group shot... cheesy as it sounds.  That means people next to each other, maybe Shepard + his LI seated a little closer?  Grunt + Wrex doing some Krogan roar or fist-smacking thing, etc.

Firstly, you need more than sleep and nutrients. You need breaks. I'm not saying you should take month-long vacations, but you need a day or two free from combat here and there. That looks like all this DLC is: maybe a day or so of rest. Nobody's eloping to Hawaii.

You're forgetting the shot of whiskey in the cafe on the Citadel, and the many beers he drank at his parents' house.

This is one reason I love Kaidan.

Alot of armchair generals here saying that soldiers shouldn't get R&R during extended warfare LOL.

Get a little real life experience then come on back.

Also try to remember this is a game. That is all.

Countries were being annihilated during WWII.  Millions of civilians dying...slaughtered.  THOUSANDS of soldiers, too (and that's just American GIs).    The US was in the midst of the Great Depression.  One of our Naval bases in one of our protectorates (Hawaii) was attacked by the Empire of Japan.  People feared invasion in the mainland.  London was decimated by GNATZEE bombs (hence the uncoinincidental setting of ME3's finale in London, I'd venture). The US dropped two atom bombs on Japan.

That sounds like a big deal, YET American GIs (at least) took R&R in the midst of all of this.

Get it?

This is the cheesiest and most cringeworthy moment of the entire series, and there were a few cliched and cheesy moments in the trilogy (especially in ME2).
