I dunno, it just stretches the imagination. Shepard's supposed to be a selfless hero, or at least he is if you're a Paragon (I guess it makes sense if you're a Renegade). You'd think he'd grab what moments of peace he could get on the Normandy but keep pressing onward.

 

Realistically, Shepard and his crew would have a lot of downtime. Sure, the game shows us all the missions and does show the urgency involved, but in most cases, soldiers spend a great deal of time during wars just sitting around and waiting. Shepard and his crew would be no different.

All the support Shepard gathers would have to be coordinated and organized. It would be a logistical and political nightmare that would take a good deal of time. There would be times during this game when Shepard would literally have nothing to do but sit and wait. That's just the nature of war. We just don't see any of that because it would be mind numbingly dull. 

Doing things to take his mind off of things so that he doesn't dwell on everything constantly through those periods is actually the most responsible thing he could do. Shepard's a soldier. He makes a point of telling his squad to take time for themselves throughout the game like when he tells Liara to take a moment, makes Steve take a break, or gets Jack to stop worrying about her rosters and dances with her. He's smart enough to know that a fully stressed, mentally exhausted soldier is a lot less effective than one who's taken opportunities to relieve stress. it doesn;t mean he's not taking the war seriously, and it doesn;t mean he doesn't care about the people dying. it just means that he's professional enough to know that he has to make sure that he is in the right place physically and mentally to do his job when the time comes. 

That's my take on it anyway.

Are you serious? The one character you decide to romance, is the one you KNOW is going to die soon, and you get angry when, shocker, he....DIES?! I get that you feel like there should be an option for him to live, but you are completely underming the emotional impact of his death scene. His sacrifice becomes meaningless if he lives, and narritivaley it would be a cop out.

So please keep your illogical expectations to yourself.

I'll be honest, the ability to hang out with some of the beloved squadmates seems pretty nice, but the plot behind... whatever this is... looks pretty cheese.

There is nothing unrealistic the crew of the Normandy getting some short leave.

Ships have to eventually go to port to restock and refuel, and when they do it isn't uncommon for the crew to also get a little downtime.

Awwes. I'm really excited and sad at the same time. I also really hope The have The Mass Effect Trilogy for Next generation systems. I be happy to rebuy the games there. I love Liara and the rest of the crew. I hope it be a great DLC, storyline. It be smarter if the DLC take place after The Ending. I personally don;t feel like playing another ending if there is no more New Endings. It been a awesome ride and journey. Thank you BioWare for everything that last years. I can't wait for the next and new as well.

Are YOU serious? No, I will not resign from stating my opinion, only because of fact that a person from the internet tells me that I shouldn't do that. You have problems with people having different opinion? Don't visit forums.
And I have very valid reasons to complain. You see, not all people see Thane as a character whose only purpose is death. I won't change your opinion, but don't even try to tell me what I should think.

But seriously, we're not getting everything we wanted, end of story. They made that pretty apparent with the ending. Also, he has a very valid point with the death issue. They did tease us with the cure Thane lead up poll thing before release, but there's no way they would be able to give you what you want. His death is hardcoded into the game, and even if they did bring him back (with space magic I assume), they couldn't put him in as a team member, and wouldn't make much of a profit compared to the amount of time that would take... you're basically asking for a new game.

I hate to tell you this, but people in real life die too. Even if you love them, they'll still die of the cancer they have or whatever it is.
