Hi folks, Been experimenting with Shadowkeeper to bring over a PC and Imoen from BG1 (TotSC) to BG2 (SOA/TOB).
All in all the PC seems to come over intact from the "Final Save' from BG1 (TotSC) so I'm okay there.
My biggest challenge is w/the NPC Imoen. Some of what I am trying to apply to the BG2 Imoen is successful, e.g. EXP, Saves, etc., but most of the changes aren't taking.
E.g. I've edited the spells she knows and verified the number she can memorize but each time I 'save' what I've done and then open BG2 to that save, the same old starting spells for the vanilla BG2 Imoen are there and not those I've tried to edit in.
Also, neither are the changes I'm making in her thieving abilities changing over to the new game.
Do I have to save after each tab I open under Imoen (thought about that while I was typing this)?
Little help here?

Is the save after Imoen has freed you from the cage? (Just checking)
& are you editing the compatibility version of the save game if you've installed to the program files folder. Otherwise Windows is probably "helpfully" re-synching your files. I'd change it in both locations if it exists in each.

Gate is right in telling you to ensure that the Imoen you are changing is AFTER you are freed. There are a number of Imoen.cre files (14 I think) and you need to edit the correct one!
You shouldn't have to save after opening each tab, but doing so would certainly help you keep track of the changes.
I find the level1 NPC mod extremely helpful as it gives you all sorts of opportunities to change things.
I will try and edit her myself and see what I come up with. My set-up makes her a tiefling thief/conjurer multi, so I'll see if I can make her a human thief mage dual.
I think that to do that I have to make her a thief, give her enough exp points to level up, dual and then give her more experience points. We'll see.

Yes that worked. I couldn't stop her being Tiefling, but all the other changes worked.
I gave her antichickenator as one of her spells and deleted blindness to check on the spell list.
Now a level 4 thief level 16 mage. Level 4 is the level at which I dualled.
I'm wondering if you had SoA open whilst you changed things in Shadowkeeper. If you did, that would mess things up for certain.

@ Gate70 & GtW: Thanks for your help.
I am beginning after Imoen frees my PC from the cage, so I've got that much correctly.
Not sure about the 'compatibility version of the game' question though. Not sure what to do to ensure that I'm doing that correctly.
I note from GtWs question that I need to select the 'correct' Imoen.cre. Not sure how to do that. I did note there was more than one in the list to choose from. Hmmm. That may be where I'm hosing this up. Still, like I said, SOME of the changes ARE taking, mostly those on the first tab, e.g. hps & experience, stats etc. Also, looks like her saving throw #s for Wand/Staff/Rod, Breath, Spells etc. is saving right too.
However, the spells I'm adding for her spellbook & her thieving abilities are not.
(ofcourse it dawns on my that Immy and the PC lost all their stuff when they are captured, so, I guess that would mean her spellbook)...but i digress.
Here's what I'm doing....after closing out of SOA completely...
1) Start SK...
2) SK searches for the SOA install...
3) Once SK finds SOA, I open the correct saved game from the list in SK...
4) My PC pops up & I 'change portrait' to Imoen...
5) then I work through the tabs for her making the changes I want (note: my PC comes up perfectly so
he requires no changes)...
6) Then I hit the 'save button' on the toolbar and close out
7) I open SOA and go to the last save SK made for me and open it....
8) I let it play thru the start movie and then ASAP, I check out Imoen spellbook & thieving skills...
9) Then I get frustrated & go back to making my new BGI PC (LOL)
D'yall see anything I'm dorking up there?

CKT, someone tried to explain this before without being too explicit. I'll try it another way. Don't worry about Imoen in the dungeon after she rescues you. Play through the dungeon as she is. Once you get out of the dungeon and into the daylight, then make changes to her, if you still feel the need.

I can't see anything that you are doing wrong.
However, could you confirm that the savegame you open in SK is one that you have saved AFTER the game automatically saves and not before!
Silenceall's advice could well be worthwhile following. i.e. doing the editting later might make more sense, however, since you have started, now is as good time to learn as any.
If you are trying to edit Imoen in the finalsave or something like that, you are wasting your time.
When you talk about changing the portrait, I assume that you mean you are clicking on the right hand side of the bar below the picture. If you do that, it will then say Imoen at the top instead of the name of your character.
Don't click on the button that says "Change portrait"!
This may seem a stupid thing to say, but people not used to using shadowkeeper have done things just like that!
All that does is change the portrait of CHARNAME!

Step 7 is wrong, you shouldn't see another movie after loading the edited savegame.
& the compatibility area will show under this icon in your savegame folder
