I really don't get peoples beef with Liara.
I wouldn't say that, I'd say it is more misguided hatred and the assunption that the resources used on Liara took away from the resources to be used on other characters.
Which is of course silly.

not complaining, I like liara, but I like all the female romances because they are different, honestly don't see how offended people get over pixels.

Which is also a bit true. You can´t really deny it. Liara has a lot of contents in the game somethimes in situations when she isn´t really supposed to be.
But the developers wanted it to be that way. (like they want you to be buddy buddy with Garrus, or how they force EDI
to be everywhere where she can do the same from the ship. )The developers wanted her to be this obssesed and cute lady, because they knew she will get more love than Kaidan or Ashley in LI department. So yeah. BUt since they focused on her that muhc progression of her character is her. I´m glad I don´t have to think about her a a blues sexi alien fanservice anymore. Compared to most of the ME2 ladies she has it better in terms of more complex personality.

not even worried or care about that...
This thread was about the DLC itself. I (and Chris Priestly responded) about the concern that OTHER characters aren't going to get much screentime since Liara seemed to perceive more favorably in the DLC trailer (hence I feel she has enough character content alreadly)

Also, even if the romance content isn't equal for all characters, there's some great humor in the DLC to make up for it.

Yes Samantha does have a scene(s) in the apartment. In the trailer she has only her bra on and what looks to be sitting in a hot tub.Linkforlife wrote...
I got to wonder, will Samantha be able to get off the Normandy to spend some time with Shepard on the Citadel. She is the only one who has no Citadel scene, or a goodbye scene on Earth (despite being a communication specialist).
Also I am currently watching someone on twitch.tv play the dlc with Samantha as a LI
Heres the link if interested.

(Due to celebration and death-defying fanboyism in hindsight to the reunion with my Shepard's headcanon dad, I shall only speak Massani until the evening.)

I don't think anyone in this thread has said Liara was badly written. (Example: the first thing I said to myself after the ME3 capsule scene was, "Wow. If I liked the character, I'd be stoked with that convo." I think Karpyshyn, Weekes, and Feketekuty are very good writers.) My dislike stems from her characterization (a team and leadership decision) and from design/game narrative decisions related to her that affected my enjoyment of the games.David7204 wrote...
Disliking a character is fine. Inevitably, people are not going to like every character in every story.
What's not fine is twisting that into ridiculous and stupid accusations of 'bad writing' or 'plot armor' or 'railroading' or rubbish like that. And that's what pretty much every person who whines about a character does.
Here's a few facts that people on the BSN seem to have a very hard time with:
- Characters are not required to have equal screentime. Nearly every story in existence has some characters appear more often that others. That doesn't change for Mass Effect just because it's a video game. Equal screentime is not indicative of any kind of good writing, nor is unequal screentime indicative of any kind of problem.
- 'Forced' conversations are perfectly good game design and writing. Characters are not 'shoved down your throat' merely for their merit of existing in the story.
- The more of an effect a character has on the story and other characters, the more 'forced' content they're going to have. That's really the end of it. Liara, Miranda, and EDI have a considerable effect on the story, and hence have a good deal of unavoidable content. If you want squadmates to play an active role in the story, you had better get used to the fact that characters are going to be present and the player character is almost certainly going to 'canonically' like them, whether the player does or not. Likewise, if you think you should be able to 'hate' any character or kick them off the ship at any time or whatever, you had better get used to squadmates playing no real role in the story or with other characters.
And you're absolutely right - if the story dictates that my Shepard's going to be madly in love with her regardless of my actual decisions - that's my problem, not Bioware's. My personal solution, and (obviously) the OP's solution? Air our concerns, and try to discern the degree to which Liara will dominate any future content so we can decide whether we want to buy it. (It's called informed decision, yo.)
Ultimately, if there are enough people like me and the OP (which, I think there are more of us than the ME team would like to acknowledge), then it does become Bioware's problem with regard to marketing and sales.
Now, that said - I actually sympathize with Bioware's constant dilemma: how do you give people a cohesive story without stepping on player choice here or there? The short answer: you can't. It's a constant balancing act, and I'm sure it's a demoralizing PITA to separate the wheat (legit complaints) from the chaff (true "whining").
Even so, if Bioware gets so jaded that they discount every criticism as unfounded "whining," or only encourage the opinions of Kool-Aid servers, then they're going to miss potentially important shifts in their target audience. The Kool-Aid servers might love this in the short-term, because it suits their immediate agendas (MOAR Liara!), but it's not good for anyone in the long-term.
