When would be the "Best" time to play the new Citadel DLC? Pre or Post-Sanctuary?

As a Miranda-Romancer, I must figure out the best possible time. I am not sure whether or not playing the DLC before Sanctaury would make sense. And then there's playing it after. The next Target would be the Cerberus Base. The  DLC starts with Shepard giving a chance for shore leave. The conflict comes later on. I want to play this DLC at a point in time in the Story where it Fits the most.

It may be easier and different for other players with different Love Interests. It's hard to figure out in My Case.

I think you have to finish each squaddies individual quests, no? Chris Priestly already said as much in the Q&As section.

For Miranda you'll have to do it after Horizon but that seems the most logical place to do it anyway imo

I'm talking about "Story-Wise." When is the best time to start the Citadel DLC?

I know. But there is just one thing that bothers me: The Cerberus Headquarters Mission is something urgent, no? So would it make sense to go to shore leave during that time?

Probably right before the assult of the Cerberus HQ. I believe Chris Priestly said that's where most gamers would load up their saves so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to say you'll get the most content starting from there.

Pretty much, I guess. Everything else by THAT precise point in time will be completed. The later In-Game, the more Content.

Yes, but I don't think Miranda is available at all unless her mission is completed.  So if your concern is with Miranda-content than I think you're stuck with post-Sanctuary.

Some time while playing the game, I would think.

I want to play it after Sanctuary. I just want it to make sense. I feel that it is best to do it after, in my case. I mean, Space is big. So going to Cronos takes time anyway.

You've got to wait for the Crucible to finish being constructed (more war assets to come) and for Hackett's fleet to mobilise. Lots of time to wait for orders. Plus following Thessia, Shepard's in a lot of need of R&R with Anderson telling Joker to look after him. One mission later, Anderson orders Shepard to take some down time, recharge and then approach the final hurdle with a clear head.

Well, general consensus seems to be after Horizon, which I suppose makes sense given that by that time you've sorted everyone's story arcs and Shepard will likely be pretty mentally frazzled by this point. Just a shame that, in my case, I'd still be missing Mordin, Thane and Legion, unless they appear in the form of video logs giving last messages or something.

That DOES make a Hell  of a lot of sense! This no sarcasm. Seriously, this does solve a lot of issues for me regarding this.

Hopefully there will be some kind of warning at the end of Citadel DLC ("Hey guys, yeah Citadel DLC was awesome huh. You now have to go playthrough that steaming heap of putrid bile that is our ending, better to just pretend it ends here, eh? P.S. EA says buy more dlc")

The save I'm currently playing is after the coup, before Rannoch, and I'm almost through Omega. I think I'm going to play Citadel after Omega, even though I obviously haven't finished everyone's storylines, I have for Jack and she is my romance partner in this playthrough.

Anyone know what this means in the FAQ:
"If you play the Citadel DLC right after stopping the Cerberus coup attempt, the DLC content will unlock naturally over the course of the main game." - does this mean you can go back to the Citadel DLC a second time later, before Cronos Station, and there will be more content (even if it's just dialogue etc)?

I get the criticism that with the galaxy in flames, Shepard taking shore leave to decorate an apartment and gamble seems unjustifiable.  But Citadel doesn't seem like it would be hard to fit in if you accept the premise (and I think it's a perfectly rational one) that there are external events the effect the timeline of the war.

I mean you can not launch your attack on Earth before the Crucible is completed, right?  Even though my MP characters now contribute enough EMS to win if I did a U-turn in the first act and went straight back to Vancouver to deploy them against the invading Reapers.  So you can easily say "we're waiting on the Crucible before we proceed."

It seems close to being complete when you go to Thessia for intel re: "what is the Catalyst the plans mention?" but then Kai Leng escapes with them and you track him to Sanctuary.  And then, yes, if Shepard was the sole actor in the war you could say "well, Leng's gone to Cronos Station and this is urgent, so I should immediately pursue him there."  But here's where I think you can slip Citadel in:  your raid on Cronos involves a small Alliance fleet spearheading the attack, yes?  Deploying any fleet requires certain logistics, and that takes time.

So I'm 50% through downloading the 2nd file but I already have a good idea about why I'm loading pre-Cerberus HQ attack and heading back to the Citadel:  Hackett needs some time to pull together the attack fleet for that mission.  Meanwhile, since Shepard's about to head into an enemy stronghold, he's told "rest for a couple days so you're strong and clear going in."  At the end of Citadel, Hackett calls, says "my ships are ready to go if you are," and the endgame begins.  Seems tidy enough to me.

Does it mean we don't have any interaction with Miranda if we play it before Horizon?
In my current playthorugh I'm about to head to Rannoch and I completed both previous dlc and I also had the "intimate scene" with Miranda.

Does it mean I have to wait for Horizon,if I want to interact with Miranda?

EDIT:

You are at the same point of my playtrought but for the fact I completed Omega.
Id' like to to reload the previous career files in order to play it after Horizon.
If we can go back a second time later and interact with other characters it would be nice. We could play whenever we want and we can still interact with every character.

I was wondering this too, but without the Miranda part. After reading some other threads, I think it could go like this.

Cerberus Coup
Omega DLC
Citadel DLC (upon returning from Omega)

In the aftermath of the coup, Shepard finally meets with Aria, and sees it as a chance to get back on Cerberus (especially if you have Soul Survivor) He doesn't really tell anyone where he's going, so when he gets back, the crew, in a panic or not, question him. Anderson heard about this, and makes him take leave in light of his continuous fighting against Cerberus and the Reapers.

I think that's what I'm going to go with. Makes Shepard seem desperate, like he needs it, and fits in pretty well with the story, and lets the Citadel DLC breath and unfold over time, making it feel more natural with the story.

Best time to play Citadel is after blowing up the reapers and reloading the pre cerberus save and start from there like an epilogue.
