***Warning, long post***
Tried to reinstall DAO lately after Origin is derping out and not letting me play ME3 MP and I need my BioWare fix. Had gotten myself a shiny new PC on top, though turns out that goddamn CD/DVD drive doesn't like reading most DVDs (first shock), so I had to register my DAO copy on Origin to download.
Turns out even better, as whilst the retail copy was bilingual with the original aswell as the German synchronization (with the English being the only one that matters, I abso-frickin-lutely HATE those synchronizations, especially German ones as they tend to be sh*t!) the code I entered on Origin obviously was only for the German version.
So, after some silent minutes of rage brooding, I contacted EA Live support chat (with fifty minutes more waiting and silently brooding away), I got connected ... only to be told that once registered the language cannot be changed and there's nothing they could help me with (third shock).
Well, knowing the average EA support, I waited another forty minutes for another chat with an agent. Got in, same response (nooo, please nooo!), but after some literal sad Mabari eyes I got the operator to break (yeahaw!) and got a localized support number to call where they could help me with my case. That was the fourth shock by the way, because apparently EA has a contract with life's irony, as my mobile is broken at this very moment, so I couldn't possibly call that number.
Slept over it (was four a.m. in the morning by then anyway), then went up five ours later to get in early to the bank and get some money so I could possibly just buy another CD/DVD drive, one that's working preferably. Went to my local PC hardware outlet, no CD/DVD drives in my price range available at the moment (fifth shock, if you're still counting).
So I get back and am soooooooo short of just being the whole damn game anew via Origin just for the English version, but then figured, why the hell not try support again.
So I waited another twenty five minutes, got hooked up with an agent, told him my problem, very much like I had told the previous operators. Same answer. But screw life if you can't fix things with the right amount of begging. And YES! Operator was asking supervisor and I got the exception and they changed my registered key to an English version after my identity was confirmed.
Immediately checked if working ... did not (sixth shock). But wait, wait a minute there ... I just probalby have to restart Origin to have the change in my account to TAKE EFFECT, RIGHT!?. Thanked the Support Guy (note capitals, very important!) again, ended chat, restarted Origin, checked game details for product key AND I HALF CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!!! IT'S ANOTHER KEY!!!
Downloaded, installed, English.
