Not to take sides, but the DLC for the games listed under the games section on this site . . . even the very old DLC for old games? It's still exactly the same price. There hasn't been a drop that I'm aware of.

Let's face it, pretty much all of the mass effect 3 dlc should've been included in the main game, bioware and ea are just greedy and care more about making money than they do bringing out quality content, Chris's reply to the OP just reinforces this. If anything the generally crappy game that is me3 will just force more players to buy dlc in the hopes that their beloved franchise will be redeemed, case in point why Leviathian killed it in sales.

Don't expect any apologetic attitudes from the devs here, I think the vast majority of players think the dlc is overpriced, and the price should be lowered.

The problem is that bioware knows no matter how expensive the dlc is, they know the average mass effect fan will shrug their shoulders and buy it anyway, that's consumerism.

I'm not prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt as I thought Omega was very overpriced and From Ashes should've been included in the main game, that being said, I'll still buy the dlc.

But I will make a big stink about the price and grill bioware for it, deal with it.

Yea, a company's greedy for charging XXX for anything.

Interestingly there's a nice entry on the Escapist by Jim Sterling, I believe his name is, in his show, "The Jimquisition" that talks about this, "companies exist to make money" phenomena, aptly in the episode titled: "Companies Exist To Make Money."

For those that don't know, he's also a reviews editor over at Destructoid, which I just found out myself because, apparently, I'm bad at noting who creates what. Proven by the fact that I only know this stuff because I couldn't think of the name and looked him up. :P

I'm bored, obviously, and want the DLC already. Haha.

Really professional.

Maybe you could've actually brought up some points why OP should consider spending $15 on the DLC? There are quite many selling points for this particular DLC, and while OP might be a troll, you could've convinced the audience that it's a good DLC. You know, create some value for BioWare instead of being a jerk?

I know you're not in the marketing department, but you should atleast not try to work against them. And to clarify, yes, I'm telling you how to do your job.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that they do give it away for free (and IIRC correctly his episode was more about the used game market)

but rather why the numerous increases. This is the show don't tell generation; something that VG developers have kept close to the vest for a while is their actual production costs laid out plain, and then actual sales.

For example supposedly DA2 was quite profitable....even the DLC.....who knew?

It's all quite close to the vest, but rest assured this price increase it to test the waters.

Dont be surprised when it becomes $20 in a year, $25 and so on.....

Because hey we can ignore it duh, and come on guys thats only a nice dinner for 2 skip a meal....

Chris isn't even justifying why the dlc is so expensive, he could've pointed out what makes this dlc different from others instead of mocking the poster and giving a non-answer, i.e. new gameplay features, expanded romances, story lore, etc. We're customers here, if you go to a store and ask about a product, usually the salesperson or representative is going to at least try to justify the price and point out all of the cool features, etc, etc, instead of laughing at the buyer and insist they take their business elsewhere.

Outside of the press releases for it, why would HE need ot justify it? Chris isn't the company, he's not the bean counters, nor the guys who determine the price.  People ask me all the time why are Asanti Rims so expensive, I only work for the companies that market/sell them not make them.  So my answer? You'd need to talk to the company that spends the hundreds and thousands on the designs and productions.  All I can tell you is what you get for your purchase and thats an expertly crafted wheel.

Plus he's given a bunch of reasons in other posts, he doesn't need to keep repeating himself, and he's also not a robot so if he wants to have some fun on the forums, fine, its not like we are all "professional" at all times when addressing the devs anyway.

Thing is, Chris isn't a sales person and a forum isn't exactly representative of a store front OR customer service.

The funny thing is that everyone's kissing his ass for the comment he made. Maybe it's just me but I thinks the devs on here shy away from answering questions related to overpriced dlc, like they're afraid of saying something they're not supposed to. I remember people got the same answer for Omega too, which I would have felt would have been worth the price if it had just a few of these elements:

-directly affected the storyline and ending
-allowed you to bring your squadmates(would have loved to see aria interact with garrus and liara, maybe even meet wrex)
-gave you nyreen and aria as permanent squadmates along with unique dialogie
-harbinger being involved

He's a representative of the company on the official forums, if potential buyers ask about the price, then he at least has a responsibility to to justify it, instead of mocking and insulting the OP. It actually is IMO at least a version of customer service, they've shed feedback on other components of the story/multiplayer, why not the dlc too?

He can have fun, I just think doing so in this particular is unprofessional, quite a few people here seem displeased by his comments, he may have just cost his company a few potential buyers.

That depends on how long the content is, the main game was 60 on launch I believe, for the dlc to be 15 bucks, it would at least have to have one third of the content of the main game, give or take, that's what I would call a reasonable price.

No need for an endless debate if you apply that logic to dlc.

Your stupid comment just put me off from buying this DLC, I was on  the fence leaning towards buying despite firmly sticking to "not buying" previous ME3 DLCs...

But then again, maybe am reading your post the wrong way, right now I dont care anymore. Been on the boards for a long time, once you were "evil" now, more than often, just an ass to people. I think BSN is changing characters and attitudes of forumites and devs are no different. I think the staff should re-think their attitude.

I'm sick and tired coming here to read all the debilitating nonsense people are arguing about. Almost all my friends left the boards, hardcore rpg'ers - what does that tell you? I think I'm the same, some anger been piling up... I'm close to state of stop searching of the lost **** I never gave...

So you're telling a customer who buys everything your company ever makes , to shunt off , if he doesn't like how kept in the dark he is by the Citadel DLC launch details while in the same time being expected to cut in 15$ for it?
Interesting.
I would have expected this kind of reply from some trolls but not from an official.
I was under the impression the "general discussion" forum is here exactly for discussing these kind of subjects.
You must be rich if you spend 15$ on a lunch , i mean , i seem to spend a lot of money myself but DAMN , 15$ for a lunch? 2 very big and nice and very delicious Sandwiches and a Coffee cost me 2GBP which is roughly 3$. Or if im feeling naughty that particular day i buy a subway lunch and a large diet Coke which is about 3GBP (4.54$) but DAMN !! 15$? Must be some hell of a lunch.
Wonder where you were when i pre-ordered ME3 collectors for my PS3 and i couldn't get the multiplayer to work for over 30 hours. Or where you were when Origin patches failed drastically on every PC and the forum was full of people who couldn't connect to BSN. Could have had a few laughs then instead of feeling sorry i preordered.
wink wink'

P.S -> you can add "lols" inbetween every 2-3 words just to make it ingenious from my part.

I enjoyed Omega but i also knew going in it WOULDN'T effect the ending (as they have stated more times than is worth noting), I also knew old squadmates wouldn't play into it due to you know, reading up on the DLC before.  As for Aria and Nyreen as permanent squaddies...well... Aria and Nyreen as permanent squadmates with unique dialogue across the storyline? HELL YES.

If you don't think so, LOL, then don't.

No one is LOL forcing you to buy it. It is optional content for those who want it. LOL. Some LOL people will see it as somethign they LOL want. If you LOL don't, then don't buy it and use the $15 for a nice lunch, put towards some other cool game or DLC or just use it for teh LOLs.
