No. A mage as King would indeed end up getting their ass Exalted Marched on by the Chantry. Save the country, then throw it into another war, not a good thing.

Sadly when I was playing my mage. I was disspointed because I wasn't a noble I couldn't be king. Evem anora turned me down to becoming King because I wasn't a noble. Took the wind out of my sails. Thats why replay factor is so great

You are treated differntly as to your orgin. As you very first play the game. There is a guy who is paying a reward for a flower, when you pick it up one of your companions tell you about this reward. If you are not noble he willl lie about reward and say he was mistaken

Nope. Burn the Chantry, conqueer Ferelden, establish new Tevinter Imperium. Queen more or less, I want to be Imperatrix.

You go Imperatrix.Posted Image  You might want to start that campaign initially by "saving the mages" as a blood mage, so you can wipe out one bastion of Templars.

why rule when you can go hang out with Morrigan and help raise the god child and start a new Mageocracy later?

What's the point in ruling a wasteland? The Tevinter Imperium might think mages are pretty cool, but everyone else on Thedas blames the Tevinters for why life sucks.

Why did the Maker shun humanity? Tevinters worshipping dragons. Why is the Golden City now Black, and why do darkspawn blight the surface? Stupid Tevinters and their mages. Why is the Maker extra pissed because of Andraste's death? Cause Tevinter magisters killed her. Common chantry-going folk are not going to be cool with a mage on the throne of any country, even a backwater like Ferelden. You'd have endless rebellion on your hands and you'd never get anything done, plus the fact that the country where the Chantry originated is right next door with all its chevaliers and bards just waiting for an Exalted March to be declared. You wouldn't enjoy any of the power and deference medieval kings could command, so why bother?

At worst, turn some minute-maid abominations (like Uldred's) into the Exalted March.

Watch.

Grin.

An Archmage like you are endgame has such power, it would be a waste not to (ab)use it.

I would have fun fighting Chanrty, populating my land and estinguishing rebellions. I would expand over Orlais and suck them all in. And you are wrong - common folks are happy as long as their bellies are full.

And I would have templars.....

Can you even imagine Mass Paralysis at Imperatrix level?

Queen? You mock her highness with such lowly titles!

Would at least have been cool to see a blood magic option convincing them that they need you close by as an adviser, though I haven't unlocked blood mage yet(going for it on current playthrough) so for all I know there could be one.

You know mages really get screwed! Yes yes, I know....we'ere uber powerful. Yes yes I know....arcane warriors can wade amongst mass carnage eating a snickers and playing poker and still not get hit.

I get it...
No really.

But wtf I save the world as a male or female, then I should rule! Not Anora and her wanna be princess Lea hair do. Alistair is fine but not without me...or by myself.

Its a conspiracy. and wrong. /sniffle (thanks Dragon age writers! - dont expect a Christmas gift from me)

What are you talking about oh Mage-ly one? At least the writers give you the option of touching true desire. The other PC types just get to send an NPC Henchy in who gives the "I'm not dealing with you! Foul Creature!" response.

Ironically, as I go through this game as an arcane warrior mage, the dialogue options are a lot richer. Theres always an option about "oh how storng you are" or some other mage innuendo.

Why make yourself king/queen? Everyone knows the classy villains work behind the scenes.
