Well if you have Bring Down the Sky, you can get one there as a reward. Either armor or an omnitool.

Yes, I know. As I said in my post, I wanted to purchase one of these items from the store and use bdts to get the other.

Question: is NG+ harder? Right now, I'm doing my 1st playthrough on insanity with a fresh engineer. I've already completed Feros, Noveria and all of the mission side quest. All that's left is bdts and Virmire. If NG+ isn't harder then I will probably pick the omni tool over the colossus armor. I really want that omni tool!

NG+ is easier since you have all your skills and all our gear and nothing else really changes.

If you have Pinnacle Station, you can complete all Pinnacle Station scenarios and then get access to a terminal with random items you can purchase, including Spectre weapons and the Serrice Omni Tools and Amps.

If you do not have Pinnacle Station or you find it hard/boring/bland/tedious, then just go for the Omni Tool.

Just checking, you do have the kassa fabrication and serrice council liscences correct?  I also noted that when I was high level during BDtS, that I could pick up some omnitools from various crates and such on the asteroid.  NG+ will be quite a bit easier, your equipment will carry over, your remaining cash will carry over, and all your skills as well.

@RedCaesar97

No Pinnacle Station on the PS3 verison.

My Titan armor with Dr Michel's pricey Medical Exoskeleton mod is sufficent enough. The omni tool sounds like the better option.

@The Grey Ranger

Yes, I have both of those licenses. I was able to unlock the medium colossus armor but of course my Engineer nor any of my squadmates could wear it.

Are the keeper scans and Artifact side quests worth competing?

Keeper scans will get you an email in ME2, nothing in ME3. Keeper scans are better for early-game (pre-Spectre) so you can reach a higher level early. Works best when you have all XP bonuses.

Asari writings will help you somewhat in ME3. Spoilers to follow:

The Asari writings, Elkoss Combine license, completing Gavin Hossle's sidequest on Feros, and keeping Conrad Verner alive in both ME1 and ME2 will net you some neat extra dialogue in ME3 along with a few more war assets. After the Citadel Coup, in the refugee camp, one of the doctors talks about the medigel dispensers having been sabotaged. Go and find Conrad Verner and talk to him. Also, make sure to the ME1 sidequest where you help Rita and Chellick to get Jenna out of Chora's Den.

I think collecting a lot of minerals may help with the Crucible Project in ME3, but I do not know if that is due to ME1 mineral scanning, or having enough minerals in ME2 by probing planets.

Yeah if you can't get your hands on colossus, titan armor is probably the second best choice. It should be adequate especially if you've go a couple of medical exo's. I'd go for the omnitool as well.

The really high end stuff doesn't really start dropping until around level 50 or so.  So you might want to delay BDtS if you haven't hit that level yet.  Also besides the Normandy quartermaster, try the 2 hanar merchants (Citadel and Noveria), sometimes they have colossus IIRC.

Okay... I think I made a mistake. I decided to start from scratch as an Infiltrator for Hardcore mode. I did this because I didn't feel like playing the same Shepard. As a result... I think I may have gotten myself in a very difficult situation. I am currently in Noveria and I just can't get past the Krogans when you leave your Mako. I tried SO MANY times... but my squad dies (Ashley and Garrus) pretty fast and I really don't last long when one starts charging at me. I am tempted to just change the difficulty and replay it some other time with a PREVIOUS character in the future... but I was so set on getting the trophy.... UGH...

Are there any tips you guys can give me before I decide to tone down the difficulty? Or is it going to be a real pain to keep going. I mean, I'm still near the beginning of the game... I can only imagine how much harder it will get...

I am an Infiltrator with Warp talent..... help...

@ChowMan: what level is your Infiltrator?

One thing you can do is open that door, but stay inside that garage and try to pistol snipe (or sniper rifle snipe) everything from inside of there.

Recommend that you do not use Sabotage anywhere near Krogans, Geth Destroyers, Geth Juggernaughts, or Geth Primes as they will tend to rush you and beat you down.

Alternatively, if you can spare the time, go back to the Normandy and then re-enter and re-exit the Normandy to choose a new squad. If you are having trouble, using Liara for her biotics and Kaidan for his Lift and Neural Shock (if they are specced) can be useful.

Warp is probably not the best bonus talent, but it does increase damage dealt to enemies, so use it on Krogan who are using Immunity to reduce the effects of their Immunity.

If you can exit the building, your squadies will get back up once you're outside and out of combat. So you can try to use that to your advantage. Kill as many as you can, then leave. Heal up, go back, I know it sounds cheap, but it does work.

But, yeah RedCaesar97 is right the best way to deal with krogan is via biotics. Make sure you equip some sort of special ammo, like chemical, cryo or incendiary, that way once you get him beat down he stays down. If you have any grenades, it doesn't hurt to use them either.

Thanks RedCaesar97 and The Grey Ranger. I will for sure take your tips into consideration. I am not sure, but I am currently at most Level 20. I'm not that high yet.

@The Grey Ranger, you mentioned about leaving the room... you can do that? I think I tried doing that and the door is CLOSED for me... unless I need to check it again.

And... ugh.....I gave in.. I decided to change difficulty. Felt like I should import a previous character to do it. HOWEVER, I did SAVE BEFORE I changed my difficulty and AFTER. If I start again with the BEFORE.... would I still be able to get the trophy? Or is it glitched to cancel it?

@ChowMan. I recommend you do some planet sidequests to reach level 20 first. Once you reach level 20, it will unlock the Rogue VI mission. So after you reach level 20, go back to the Widow Nebula, at which point Admiral Hackett will give you the quest. Completing the quest will give you your specialization (Commando or Operative for the Infiltrator), which will improve your Shepard. If this is your first Infiltrator, I recommend Commando for faster recharge time on Immunity, Marksman, and Assassination.

Master Immunity with the Immunity specialization from Commando plus at least one good Medical Exoskeleton should be enough for you to keep your Immunity up constantly. That will go a long way to helping you survive.

As for your question about saves: I am not entirely sure as I have never done that, but I would think that if you load the earlier save then you should be able to collect the trophy. I do not know for sure as I have never tried it and have no desire to; it would take me about 1-2 weeks or even a month to find out as I would have to create a new gamertag and then start a new character and I just do not want to do that. Plus by that time you would have finished the game and found out for yourself.

It's been long enough ago that I don't remember if you can back out there, you may be committed once you walk through the door. If you are lower level though go run around a bit and do some side quests. One suggestion always keep a save from before you land on a planet. That way you if you run into one of the worlds where the quests is too rough you can reload the prior save and come back later.

You can also pick up a fair amount of experience running around the galaxy collecting minerals, asari writings, salarian medallions, turian things, and unlocking random junk (it really helps to have 9 points in decryption/electronics for that).

Also since you're doing a low level hard core game, if you have completed the Doctor Michel is being blackmailed quest, you could go back to the citadel and get a couple of sets of spectre vii guns.  Sell some stuff to her, and go buy back from another merchant, go back to the doc resell, and buy back from the other merchant, repeat until you have enough cash.  You can then take your money and grab a set of spectre VII guns from the c-sec quarter master and a second set from the Normandy quartermaster.  Dr. Michel also had a medical exo VIII for sale.

You can't exit that area after you go in IIRC. Try to hang back if possible and snipe. I nearly always have Liara with me on Noveria so I would ragdoll the Krogan.

Insanity (with a brand new character) is not hard. You just need to make sure you do most of the sidequests before advancing the main plot. The rest is basic gameplay understanding - there are two trump cards in ME1 - biotics (CC) and Immunity. 5 out of the 6 class can get you one of them, with bitoics taking a bit longer to develop. Same rules should dictate your squad choice - for the early game pick Ash and/or Wrex with evolved Immunity and hp regen, for the later all you need is one biotic squadmate (if you yourself are not).

You should of course be able to deal with those advantages when they are used against you. Enemy biotics can be taken care of by dodging, biotics of your own, Master Immunity (in the sense that you can shrug off damage while being ragdolled), Dampening. Thankfully they are not encountered often en masse -  really the only place you should have trouble is storming the ship where a bunch of biotics hold chairman Burns hostage. I recommend postponing this until after the Luna mission and bringing Liara and/or Kaidan.

Enemies' Immunity can be taken care of by throwing them out of the map, CC-ing them before they activate it, using Warp or equipping Polonium rounds (Incendiary may also work, though don't qutoe me on that). Just make sure not to Sabotage Krogans' weapons - they will charge you.

Charging Krogans, Geth Primes and husks should be CC'd if possible. Tacitcal retreat is also advised.

The only challenging accomlsihment is completing Insanity with a brand new Engineer and a perma-squad of Garrus and Tali (or none).

I finally completed first my 1st Insanity run!!!!

I was able to finish a fresh playthrough with one Krogan and 3 light human sets of the colossus armor, two savant omni tools, one prodigy bio amp and a crapton of powerful mods and ammo powers. I can't believe I so worried about not getting these items. Lol, silly me.

Adept, since his powers are very effecive, and they work against all kinds of defenses.

Soldier is a walking tank later in the game, but is hard in the beginning.

I can't stand playing Insanity on ME1. It's such a chore to get to a point where you can reliably handle combat without being brutally slaughtered by all of the enemies who relentlessly rush you.  Any side mission in a prefab structure full of dudes will end you fairly quickly (as will the last part of the module mission on Eletania).

Probably doesn't help that my first true Insanity run was with a Sentinel...
