I like him. I enjoy his self-deprecating and sarcastic comments. I especially like how Morrigan puts him down when they're both in your party. But I do like his character, yeah.

While I do love him, I was just being silly with that post.

However, I cannot say what is special about him, he just makes me love him

I adore Alistair. I may be a minority of one, but I'll jump on the fanboy train. Toot toot!

I agree with you, completely. The only problem is that this thread will too soon be packed with fangirls doing their best to convince you that you "just dont understand poor Alistair" at every cost.
I wouldnt be surprised if some bring grenade throwers along..... <_<

p.s i would prefer dog as romance option rather than alistair..At least i wouldnt have to hear the alistair fan girls "screaming" in the forum for him

Oh yes, that Dog is gorgeous

Especially when you dress him in some fancy kaddis, and every time he pisses against that tree in Lothering... OMG my heart feels like it's gonna burst right out of my chest :o

Please, BioWare, next time... think of us animal-lovers - please...?

Edit: Also - if you hate the sound of fangirls screaming then creating this thread was a very bad idea :P

Because secretly all the bad girls want is a cute, sweet, innocent boy that they can corrupt?

There is a difference between sensitive and whiny. To me, Alistair's biggest fault is how he interacts with other men. He's just not a man's man. He's kind of like the gay BFF that women like to keep around sometimes.

By the end of the game, though, he's less of a failure.

And a few screaming fanboys would agree!

I don't think Alistair is overrated, despite considering the competition for a male romantic target in the game.

I liked him the first playthrough.

His Royal Whineyness, the Bastard of Ferelden is getting to me more and more on later playthroughs. I'm going to enjoy sacrificing him to the Arch Demon next time. It's just too bad Morrigan won't be around to enjoy it with me....

Alistair is annoying. Just as Wynne is. At least Wynne is handy as a mage. Alistair stays in the camp and is only used when the game forces me to. ;)

eric...your posts get more stupid by the day mate....

But I have to ask, what the hell is a mans man? Just cos he not some boozy tight t-shirted pillock who goes out on a firday night and starts a few fights makes him a wuss in your opinion?

jeesh....

personally I dont like him (but I'm a guy...not a mans man btw)...but I can deffinatly see the attraction that women have with him.

As much as I do like Alistair, I do think he gets a lot of attention. There are people like me who still care about the other companions, right? Right? :S

There are people out there who skip through the fighting just to get to the romance with him (which, honestly, is so easy that I kind of feel bad lol). Look at the fan art and fan fiction for DA:O and it's mostly Alistair.

A man's man is a guy who is respected by other men for how he carries himself and how he interacts with them and other people.

He is not of strong character.  It's not about the kinds of activities he likes to do.  It's about the way he responds to situations.  He's a whiner and he is weak (of character).

I think a man who shows emotion no matter the cause especially about his own family and other things that happen and people he cares for is a real man. He doesn't need to be respected by the minority of men who think he is gay because he has emotions and think he is weak. It is weak to not show emotions, that is it.

The problem with that is that you are still assuming a certain type of man when you talk about 'other men'. What kind of man is this that respects him? You and men like you, certainly, but that would only make what you describe as a 'man's man' a 'certain-kind-of-man's-man' - more specifically the kind of man who is like that man. So all that you are really saying is people enjoy the company of, and respect, those who are like them.
