Mav..why are you going to bother justifying anything with this person who will just throw you are from England in your face?

Because I am not going to lower myself to a inter continental slanging match, despite the fact that IF I did, I would upset him so much he would probably burst a blood vessell....

Obviously jealous that we still have a society worth holding onto despite America's best afforts to derail it....

I think England is a great place...I love...your cucumber sandwiches...and your french fry sandwiches and other things!

With opinions like that I think the only time EJ was inside a woman was when he visited the Statue of Liberty.

England puts too much sugar in their sodas and there are too many cameras. That's right! I went there!

My god, you idiots are just reading sexism where there isn't any. He's saying we're genetically pre-disposed to fill certain roles. In pre-historic times, the men didn't breast-feed the kids and take care of them while the women hunted for food. These borders have obviously been blurred out in modern times (in fact, only within the last 40-50 years between men and women, and its still obviously not perfect), but should the apocalypse happen and we immediately go back to caveman status, the jobs each sex performs would tend towards appealing to the natural instincts and role of the gender.

Well, considering he is using the fact that a) we are female or B) we are British to undermine/disprove our logic, I think his own logic is faulty at best.

And we are not talking about prehistoricism, we are speaking about a woman's place in the world today, and it has unfortuantely degenerated into comparisons of anatomy and speculation about how we might behave should society 'crumble'.

Well, it's still not a... highly defensible position, to be saying we're all wrong cause he's prepared for the Apocalypse and we're not... (coming from a guy who actually bought a chainsaw "in case of zombies")

That's how you end up pretending to accidentally launch your kid off in a weather balloon so that someone will finally read your blog.

I simply do not care.

U.S. citizens will typically refer to themselves as "Americans," which is as silly as (apparently to you) calling you British.

I could call a German a "European," but that doesn't really matter.

British people,
or Britons, citizens of the United Kingdom, of the Isle of Man, one of
the Channel Islands, or of one of the British overseas territories, and
their descendants.

I don't care if you're a Londoner or a Scot.  Your profile just says "UK", which makes you British as far as I'm concerned.  Though, in truth, I'm not really concerned with how you consider yourself to begin with.  You obviously do not consider yourself a man (from my point of view).

You're under the mistaken impression that I was out to prove anyone wrong.

I'm just stating my view of what a man should be, and relating it to why I feel that Alistair fails at that.

As for the cultural differences, that's just the nature of life.  I'm not going to discuss "gender roles" with a person who believes there is no such thing.

I didn't say there are none, I said there do not need to be.

Unless your one some personal crusade to convince every man, woman and

if he doesn't like him? If you like Alistair good for you, go on with
your day, if he doesn't like Alistair all the more power to him. I just
don't get why people feel the need to try and convince the other party
that they are right and that is that... (even though this thread has
nothing to do with Alistair anymore lol and more about the roles of men
and women in society... which differ from country to country
naturally...)

I'm just killing time before Kill It, Cook It, Eat It comes on, that hit show on English television that everyone watches. Not that we know where food comes from, being English. We're a nation of sissys really, incapable of comprehending real life or values.<_<

Yeah, I hardly ever eat them myself... I'm more partial to Greek/Italian food.

Although I do love bacon sarnies

Edit: Yep, they're called bacon butties. And Dahelia, I am English and I have never once seen anyone eat a cucumber sandwich

Where is the logic in an opinion or a view of the world?

That's what's wrong with you.  (Yes.  Wrong.)  You're approaching this conversation the wrong way.

The fact that you have a female opinion of things does not make you wrong.  It just explains why you are incapable of adequately accepting why many of us dislike Alistair as anything other than a failing on our part.

"You like shoes?  Well, of course you might.  You're a woman."

That's not an offensive comment, but you could probably take offense to it.  That's an emotional (completely illogical) response to the comment.  Me pointing out that you're a woman just serves to point out that your opinion of my view of things is not relevant.  You like Alistair, so you obviously aren't going to understand why I don't.

Wait, we British are known for our culinary skills? News to me. Yes, marvel in the Scots' amazing skill of developing the deep-fried Mars Bar, and the glorious chip butty of the English! Grovel in amazement at the sheer audacity of our Spotted Dick and Scones!

It's been fun, but now I have to go give birth to a baby, and breast-feed it because I'm just as capable as a woman.
