Dude I don't understand it either. For pete sakes he's saying BIG BOSS isn't up to his standards!
To be fair, Alistair actually has been through quite a lot in his life and hasn't crumbled. He never knew his father and the man who raised him sent him off at a very young age because his wife didn't like him. He spends years in the Chantry, at some point meeting Duncan, who offers him an out by becoming a Grey Warden. Then everyone he'd learned to trust and bond with over the last six months he was a Warden dies in a battle that probably shouldn't have been lost. That's actually pretty crappy.EJ42 wrote...
Look at the characters I listed. Love Actually was, IMO, a good reference because all of the male characters were faced with a situation that I feel would have made Alistair crumble.
Liam Neeson's character handled his wife's death with dignity.
Hugh Grant's character responded quite well to the situation with his love interest.
Colin Firth's character could have flipped out at his brother. He could have attacked his wife. He could have sat down, and cried or drank himself into a stupor. He didn't. He moved on, and made his life better.
WhatsHisName with the cards got a pretty raw deal, but he was a good friend...well, I don't think he should've kissed her, but whatever.
I understand what the word means. I just don't care that it bothers you that I used it in a way you disagree with.ZeroR3D wrote...

You must have missed the "acceptable" and "unacceptable" lines. For example, and I'll try to use small words here, I could have said the following: *snip*
My feelings are sooo hurt that you snuck in that passive aggressive jab. The mark of a true gentleman indeed.I suppose I could have gotten more specific and much more wordy with my top heading, but I don't really care all that much about it. Nitpick away. It's all semantics, and you're not going to win.
With your great expertise on what defines a true man, I'm surprised no one ever taught you to say what you mean and mean what you say. I'm really not looking to win anything, just pointing out the fact that you use words you don't understand. A far better choice would have been archetype.

Also, there are no gentlemen on the Internet. If your feelings are hurt, then that's your problem.
You lost any credibility when your best argument was to attack a largely irrelevant word in the post.

Untrue. There are, in fact, gentlemen on the internet, as there are everwhere. Some are on this very forum.EJ42 wrote...

Second, looking over the wiki, he seems like a villain to me.

Oh...well at least I know one thing.
You're not overly bright.
I guess DA is for children to because after all it is on consoles. Or did you forget that.
So all your whining boils down to the fact that you dislike something that...is what you call "a children's game."
Maybe you should grow up a little no?
Your definition of villian is also screwed. Big Boss was at the very end a anti - hero figure more than a villian. Here's an actual wiki: http://metalgear.wik...m/wiki/Big_Boss

I will return you the question > Is it me or Morrigan is the most overrated woman?
(this is a joke)
But since I respect other opinions, I won't flame over the question (Morrigan fans, you've the right to like that character like Alistair fans too!) : everyone have different taste if you don't like then BE QUIET. I really dislike people who love to throw bull****s on fans!(Or just g flame Bioware of making only 2 characters of opposite genders to romance!)

At most, I said "man's man," meaning a man that other men respect and look up to.
I wouldn't want to get into an argument about the definition of "manly" after the craziness of the role definitions discussion.
This just goes again to prove that very few people in this thread even know what they're responding to.
