Yes; a few times when I was working during the graveyard shift. Once the culprit was captured trying to hide behind the vending machines at work, and then tried to say he was only sleeping back there. The police insisted on him using his right to remain silent....

:D

Ever been in love with your best friend? Personally, believe it should be this way eventually.

I am :) and I agree.

Have you ever failed at something only to realize later that attempting to do the thing was one of the best experiences of your life?

Yes; marriage and the military. Both were joined while immature and clueless, involved combat, and were still exceptional instructors in the School of Hard Knocks.

No. I have a hard time imagining how that works. I know the theory well from movies and books, of course. But whenever I've had an interest in someone that I actually learned to know well, and that particular direction of interest wasn't mutual, it never bloomed into what I'd call love. My perception of the person would instead change, and no longer fuel romantic love.

Now, being infatuated with someone, from some degree of distance, is something else. I've suffered that quite a few times, but I do not call that love. That's just a sort of delusion, since you do not know the person well enough.

Have you ever found yourself in real combat, and suddenly discovered that all your marksmanship expertice is worthless, because your hands shakes so violently, that not only is aiming hopeless, but you cannot perform anything that even remotely resembles a controlled trigger pull?

No; never was involved in weapons fire when I served. However, I did get attacks of anxiety when someone became endangered while we were firing artillery. I was known for triple checking data before we sent it to the guns, and this sent me hurriedly to re-check everything under my watch when there was a call to check fire on the range.

And once, I laid on a trapped grenade wire during exercises, and my Sgt grabbed me firmly and told me not to move, as the device was next to my mask and out of my vision. That shook me up fairly well. After safely getting me out of there, I angrily exclaimed myself to be a casualty, and stood a guard post for the remainder of the day.

Kinda, in an indirect sort of way. Used to know a college student that loved to argue over anything. You could say biscuits, he would say cornbread, and want to argue the point for an hour or more. So I started to agree with him, on almost everything; made him leave the room eventually.

Prefer to think of this as emotional counter-measures.... ;)

Nope; never been to Florida. I do recall that my daughter and Grandmother were visiting when the Challenger exploded, and I was watching the news break on TV.

Hmmm. No; never really trusted something that proved deadly in a Jules Verne setting (ie; The Mysterious Island).

Ever watch the TV show; The Blacklist? Recommended overall.

No, but my family as a whole probably funded the Emergency room.

Ever associate a specific film or show with a specific food? I used to eat burritos almost every time during one police series.

I once got into a position that ended with me associating a particularly nasty part of some non-fictional crime drama* with my favorite chinese takeout item. That's not good for the appetite at all.

Have you ever had a class lecture right before lunch that covered subject matter that weakened your appetite?

* I think the show might have been Forensic Files, and I'm quite certain I remember the scene being an explanation of forensic etymology as it pertained to a particular homicide investigation.

No; have a fairly strong stomach and appetite, and also eat during forensic programming. Even had pork chops while viewing Babe!

But smells are another matter. I have had perfumed clients that could be detected before entering the room, or like scent put me off of a meal.

Ever hate a film others love, or love one that most hate? Personally, not a fan of The Godfather, Raging Bull, Citizen Kane, and some other so called classics, but love The Postman, 1941, and many old monster flics.

Yes. A lot of things really. But one thing in particular that still have me cringe in painful regret, every time I come to think about it. Like when somebody like you remind me of it.
