Have you ever had someone like your dogs or perhaps in your case just someone you knew pushing your laptop (by accident) down to the floor so it broke? :( That happened to me, my dogs were running around like usual and then they pushed it hard into the floor and the laptop stopped working.

Nope. protect the laptop AT ANY COST! :D Though I let a young, 2-years-old relative of mine mess up with my laptop for a while, Felt like she was going to smash the keyboard. :D I love kids, Can't say no to them.
