All in good fun!   all though you are merely talking semantics in the end..

 

Because by colloquial defintion, it is a projectile weapon, and it is not incorrect to use the term "fire" when referring to releasing said projectile. Not that grammar / usage cops don't have their place in this world mind you!   Nice try indeed.. almost. I mean.. this close!   Try not to be too harsh when someone refers to crossbow ammo as an "arrow" even though you thurst for vengence and wrath would scream "bolt"!

 

So yes, I have shot / fired a bow, and aimed at the bullseye and hit it, because wouldn't you know it the wind didn't interfere and the distance arc was just right..
