No, as a kid I had a great interest in digging deep holes. I wanted to know what was under the dirt/sand. I found out a great number of things. Eventually also that it's very unsafe to dig deep, steep holes. Very early on, as I learned that the world wasn't flat (to my amazement), I also figured it was a long way to China. I never really considered it.

Have you ever hitchiked, and got a lift with a guy that had to back up to get to you, and did so real fast, engine roaring, "-Where to?" and then never spoke a word, during a +2 hour drive, at speeds constantly in excess of 100mph, tires screaming at every long hi-speed bend, no belts visible in the car?
