I hear this too many times in lobbies and thought I asked you guys.
I don't have much to say about it but I would like the community to comment on this matter:wizard:

Sounds like someone whining that those "stinky Snipers keep getting all the kills!"

Look if they can drop guys quickly and effectively... IDC  play what they want. Maybe if there was a competitive scene i could get the idea of branching out but there isn't.

Skill is subjective, If I'm good  playing mutliple classes yet You're excellent using Vanguards, We are both skilled players... You have just simply specializd more in on area then me.

Topping the scoreboard consistantly without an Infiltrator isn't an issue for me at all. With that said I wasn't referring to that. I just wanted the communities point of view on the subject matter.

I think it’s a little more complicated than just topping the
scoreboard; if 2 people in a team of 4 are going down constantly, and one
player is always reviving them and completing objectives while the 4th
player runs off and kills as many things as he can, just because the 4th
player tops the scoreboard, doesn’t make him the best player on that team.

I pretty much only play PUGs
(my friendslist is never on when I am), and of the random players with
high challenge ranks/BotB banners/etc. that I’ve run into, the only ones that
have impressed me as players are the ones who seem to actually know how to
function with a team. It doesn’t take skill to hide behind TC and destroy
everything on the map with your Piranha/Claymore/Black Widow/Harrier, it takes
skill to keep that score ticking upwards, while compensating for whatever
deficiencies your teammates have.

Saw OPs pic, thought you were someone else, and anger started to rise...
Then I found out it wasn't who I thought.

And yes, it typically means you suck. With other classes. And don't know how to change it up.

Suck? No....but if one is limiting themselves to one class then that does hinder progress in becoming a better player.

I don't think it means you suck but it most certainly means you are almost the antithesis of a well balanced player.

Infiltrator-hate bait is strong in the thread title. You could have said "any specific class" or something along those lines. How rude.

I do best with Infiltrators, though that changes slightly with the introduction of Juggies. <3

Infiltrators are my "crutch" class, and I'm comfortable with that. I know them best, and I'll typically perform better with them.

That having been said, I recently started practicing a Human Sentinel with Avenger/Shuriken in Gold PuGs, and I typically top the scoreboard with more consistency than I do with infiltrators - though I also die more.

I have about 7 or 8 kits (about 3 of which are infiltrators) with whom I have consistent survivability, and will perform comparably in score to others on Gold.

But TC is a bit of a "win" button for me, and I don't mind admitting that.

I'm tending to agree with the people saying as long as they can help and pull their weight I'm fine with it but I couldn't do it personally, game play would be stagnant. I like switching it up but lately my go to kit is the fun time collector :)

Suck and not well balanced, two different things. Absolutely not well balanced. Suck as it pertains to OP question depends on reliance on damage boost and aggro shedding. Everyone that meatshields teammates sucks. Especially strokewave spamtards.

Define good?

What many fail to think about is BioWare has designed kits/weapons for the vast majority of play sytles, age ranges etc.

There are a few that are good or very good with just about everything, there are those that think they are good but in reality they need to take a look in the mirror when things go wrong, there are those that are good with various kits and some with limited kits.

There are far too many factors that go into the equation before one could say, well that player sucks.

doesnt matter which class, if youre only good with one of them out of six then by definition you arent balanced in your knowledge of ME3

For all the hyperbole around the infiltrators on the BSN I've never found them particularly more effective than any other class.

This.  One of my friends scored 190K on gold last night with a vanilla human adept.  This was in a non-PuG match where I scored third with 90K.  Any class is good if the player is good.  On topic, why care if someone only plays one class?

I've a friend who always complains when he plays infiltrator. He can't stop complaining about how much TC sucks because enemies can still see him.

He's a baddie that can only play well as a vanguard. He's also hilarious, because he becomes extremely panicked any time a brute comes near him. We taught him about ramps getting around sync kills, and now he just gets slapped to death instead.

Really, who cares? This game is about having fun. I have more fun playing with all classes, but that is just me. Players may not have fun playing with certain characters, so why should they?

If you can only play one class effectively then you are not a 'well balanced' player, as that would imply you have a competent grasp and playing ability across the board regardless of class/kit.

As far as this goes in practice, I don't care if you're good with one kit or all of them. If you're a competent player with an infiltrator and can efficiently play through a match without needing to be carried; good. Your knowledge of how to play as an adept is of no consequence to me at that point. If anything I would rather have a team-mate who highly excels & performs in one kit/class than a guy who can play all classes to a passable standard.

But ignoring what I care about, just play whatever class you find to be the most 'funs'. Cuz that's what really matters, it being a game and all.

I'm not sure I understand how the question was "rude."

There is a well known perception that Infiltrators are a clutch class, though not everyone agrees. I assume that is probably why the Infiltrator was the specific class mentioned in the title's question.

There isn't too much talk of people using Soldiers or Engineers as crutch classes, though certainly that happens, too. It's just that the infiltrators have traditionally been the most-used class.

Do they suck? Generally, no, because they're good by definition of the question.

Are they well-balanced? Depends on your definition. If "well-balanced" means they can slip into any class and work within the team as well as clutch a wave or two, then probably not. This implies that they are the stereotypical "TC-BOOM-OMGHideUntilCanCloakAgain-Repeat."

But if "well-balanced" is defined as being able to fill multiple roles within the team, then that is still possible with just the infiltrator. Obviously, they can be highest burst damage on the field. But if a person gets into a lobby and sees their team is made up of equally squishy DPSers, then a well-rounded player has an infiltrator built for more utility. Maybe they took the extended cloak over damage at rank 4 in order to hit objectives while the rest of the team keeps the heat off. Maybe they switch between sniper/shotgun/AR depending on the other team members' loadouts. These are all factors in being "well-balanced" within the infiltrator subset.

All that being said, like others above me here, I don't care what they're playing as long as they pull their weight and I see "Mission Successful" followed by sweet sweet creds.

I don't hear anything in lobbies typically. Mainly because nobody says anything on PC.

Only recent chatter was when a Volus Engineer wanted us to go two Juggs and two VE's. It was ok, I like Snap Freeze Overload cheese or Annihilation Field / Reegar cheese better though.

If a player is really good with infiltrator but can't use other weapon class, then I think he would be bad, simply because to play as a soldier or an infiltrator is not that different from my point of view.
A good weapon class user who can't make work a caster doesn't mean he sucks, because in that case there is a big difference. Everyone have their weakness :?

it's because it's the same elitist infiltrator haters (or one of their minions) that post the same thing over and over and over and over, again and again and again and again and again
it gets old reading the same garbage from the same people
how about creating a thread that actually contributes something as opposed to THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

You know, 47% of players are just going to play infiltrator regardless.  They aren't the ones that are going to support the Krogan soldier's campaign.

If you want to measure suckiness for an infiltrator, you need the rest of the team to drop or solo the map. If the guy cannot clutch the late waves, then he's to dependent on team mates as aggro sinks.

However even then, the player might not be able to survive as well with a soldier or sentinel class because if he is very good in this tact cloak and movement, repositioning without constant fire is much much easier than with other classes

If you can only play infiltrators, then yeah, you're not really a well rounded player. But I wouldn't go so far as to say you suck.
