Does playing only infiltrators mean the player sucks? Not at all. If the player gets the job done then the player gets the job done. Is said player well-rounded? No, but that doesn't make the player bad, just specialized. I lean towards engineers, myself.

EDIT:  That said, I do have more respect for players who can take "less powerful" kits and make them sing on the battlefield.

I enjoy playing infiltrators. I know they're OP, but my god they're fun to use.

Doesn't mean I can't perform well with the other classes. Depends what mood I'm in/team set-up.

If a player is only good with infiltrators, then I can agree that they are not well balanced, but can hardly say that they 'suck'.

If a player gets to the point where they can play well on Gold with only infiltrators then great, but its time to get out of that comfort zone and try something else if they want to get better.

Chances are they are or can be good with other classes but prefer infil. Truth is, I tended to stay away from some classes, like Vanguard, as I just wasn't particularly good with CQC. However, with the new challenges I got in there and learned how to play VG.

When someone comes on BSN beating their chest and loudly proclaiming how great a player they are and post screenshots showing the score and they are an infiltrator I just grin and hope some day they'll learn how to play a non-god class.    Yeah, some people need three decoys that attract even melee creatures.

Nope, in a lot of games, including many FPS, sniper weapons or classes are always a favorite. People like being the the sneaky bastage.

Based on that, I should probably not answer, but I'll give it one more shot:

OP didn't say anything elitest (many people misunderstand what that word means,) he asked a question, based on popular perception.

So far, the answers seem to fall in line with a strong measure of common sense, and I've seen virtually none of  this "Infiltrator hate" you seem convinced is the  topic of this thread.

If you're referring to the fact that the OP's title is a leading question, that's normal. Virtually all thread titles that are questions, are leading questions. If they weren't it would be difficult to focus on a topic.

And calling what other people write "garbage" is hardly contributing to the conversation.

But i'm not looking to argue with you, if you hate what this thread is about, it makes more sense for you to stop reading it.

I'm supreme with all Infiltrator characters; whole class in general, especially Geth Infiltrator & yet I don't see GI running around in lobbies. Actually when I think about it, I don't remember last time I had GI in a lobby.

Infiltrator class characters is my class to play & I play it with ease on Gold or Platinum. Also Soldier class.

I can't stand disgusting Vanguard class, so I don't play anything with that class.

I don't prefer playing Adepts or Engineers, but without problems I'll finish Gold with any characters in those two classes.

We all have strong points and weaknesses. I believe that the player isn't that good if he/she is only good with infiltrators. A good player is able to adapt and synchronize with the team using several other classes.

Something I’ll add, which I forgot to put in earlier:


It’s really difficult to define what makes a “great” player, because so much time/thought goes into loadouts. For example, how well can you play a Fury without a good caster pistol, power amps, possibly Expert Package, etc.? How well do you play a TGI without warfighter and a Harrier/PPR? Kroguard without Reegar? In fact, how good are you at MOST classes without a maxed rare gun, or a UR gun?

It’s really tough to gauge good players sometimes, because the majority of relatively experienced players will look pretty tough rocking lv. IV ammo and an UR weapon. So it’s a pretty loaded question, regardless of what kit you play.

Does it mean you suck? No, not if you're still good with the Infiltrator kits.

Not well balanced? Probably.

Balance to me is not just a measure of how good you are with all classes. It also encompasses how well you can handle yourself with a mix of kits. That takes knowledge of all six classes and how their kits work together in team play. The best way to educate yourself is first hand experience. So not playing the other classes will unbalance you; since you'll only know how to play infiltrators with other infiltrators.

I've seen a few matches, and played some myself where two or three of the players wanted to run infiltrators without regard to party balance. Then they fall into the trap of thinking every other kit is awful and not worth their time after seeing what happens when three characters all cloak and leave the non-infiltrator to get all the attention.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to play what you want, and have fun with. That's the point of this game. Unfortunately infiltrators get the most flak for doing this because of how Tactical Cloak™ works. You won't have the same reaction with a room 3/4 soldiers, adepts or engineers, or the same comments made. No you don't suck, but make sure you're flexible enough and know the other 5 classes and you can balance the scales.

Im a Sniper. I love the bonus and have an embarassing crush on the Drell Assassin.

I play Engineers, Adepts, and Sentinels but I tend to enjoy doing damage from afar. I can (and do) win with all classes, but my heart is with my Drell.

I lean towards kits that can be Sniper viable. I even souped up my Drell adept as a sniper and went for 30% Headshot damage over Power damage!!! I know... I need help.

Infiltrators are natural snipers. When cloaked before recognized you can line up headshots undetected.

So if I prefer Infiltrators despite being proficient in all classes does this mean I suck or am crutch?

No one needs to apologize for recognizing how cool the Drell are; the Assassin is my favorite class too. 

While I don't particularly love infiltrators in general (they're a little boring to me), I think it's a pretty natural attraction for a lot of people; hiding and shooting is fun and makes you feel sneaky. Plus having infiltrators on your team is really useful (assuming they're willing to revive people and work on objectives).
