Am I the only one thinking Star Trek Nemesis? Not that I'm complaining, can't wait to start playing this!
Ah yes Star Trek: Nemesis, a movie so creatively bankrupt it nearly killed a 40 year old franchise. We have accepted your claim.
Damn, I know it wasn't the greatest movie ever, but I don't think that 40 year old franchise is THAT fragile.
I mean c'mon, there's also 7 years of Voyager, and Trek survived THAT.
Paramount ripped control from Berman and the gang after Nemesis and Enterprise. They put the franchise out for RFP that resulted in the Abrams totally rebooting the thing. If there had been no acceptable proposals at this time they would have put Star Trek on the shelf.
I'm pretty sure that's enough evidence that Nemesis put Star Trek on life support.
Seemed more like it was Enterprise's bad ratings that ended Star Trek. There were alot of mishandlings behind the scenes as well from VOY, Nemesis and ENT.
Basically, it just seemed like Trek should've taken a long break after DS9, or at least Voyager.
Nemesis isn't the worst Trek ever, again. I mean yeah, the plot is out of nowhere, the actors were obviously tired of the roles, the director didn't know what he was working with (even admits, he never watched Trek and couldn't care less to watch Trek). There's a great idea in there, Romulans, a coup inside the Empire, even Riker and Troi's marriage. BUT! that's as far as it goes. As Star Trek it's bad, as a movie it's 'okay'. As TNG, it's also bad.
