So what´s the clone´s goal? Killing Shep to prove s/he is the better one?

I was wondering that.  What's its good reason for killing Shepard?

Kai Leng was basically already an evil Shepard clone.

Why did they need an actual Shepard clone? When we've never seen a clone in the MEU before?

- Miranda is technically an altered clone of her father (she has no genetic mother).
- Grunt's genome was artificially constructed, plus he was born in a tank.
- The Collectors (and probably the Keepers) are all clones.
- In ME1, Dr. Saleon was replicating organs for illegal sale (not a whole person, but it's still cloned tissue).

Clone Shep sounds like a dumb idea and I'm not supporting it, but cloning technology does exist and has been used in the ME-verse.

the question of shep being a clone came up in ME2. none issue

Your DNA doesn´t have your memories. Would have to be much more complicated than a clone.

Ahem, Saren's clone Krogan on Virmire, Warlord Okeer's clones on Korlus, Grunt, even Miranda to a degree.  Clones are not unheard of in the MEU, they're actually pretty standard.

I stand corrected.

But still, I don't see how it's a good story idea.

I would say it depends.  It's certainly been overused, but can be fun if done right.  And so long as they have a goatee, an EVIL goatee, femsheps 2.0 included.

At least I hope there won´t be a 1 vs 1 fight and at the end we won´t know which Shep won.

It is impossible to please you folks at this point, nothing short of a new ending would do.

Not close even close! But a clone is too much for me. I liked Leviothon, I was Meh about Omega, but this one is going to be a pass for me.

yeah. dont buy it then make a thread about how terrible it is and how evil BW and EA are. Make sure to include as many negative things about EVERYTHING Mass Effect. tis the BSN way bro.

The BSN has turned into those who will defend BioWare no mater what, and those who will attack them no matter what. It is a constant war, and I try to be neutral. I like what I like and I don't like what I don't like. I don't like plots about evil clone/twins, never did. I like the idea of getting back together with all the squad-mates, and if it turns out that Wrex goes perma-mate in the DLC, I may still buy it.

So? They could just implant the memories. Recreate all the most important on the record events in someone's life through VR simulations and use a chip in their brain or something to convince them it was all real. That's not what happened, but it could still be done in the ME universe.

Irrelevant.  Twins are genetically identical, yet don't share memories.  Also, if there was such a thing as "genetic memory," then you'd be born with half your mother's memories and half your dad's.

I doubt that story is the point of this DLC. What I've heard so far sounds ... well, not like a masterpiece but like a fun DLC that many people enjoy, mostly because they see their favorite characters in action. Nothing wrong with that.

Kaidan apparently got to use his biotics in a cutscene.  ^_^ WOooooooaaaaAAAH!

It amuses me greatly that it's all about a clone. (Does this mean Kaidan and Ash are geniuses for expecting something like this?)

I liked the clone idea when it popped out in the forum, but the first scene when the clone appears killed it for me.

The writing has really gone throught the floor.

so after a year....the norm here in is still

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?

roger that

And how.  The vitriol flows freely here with the intensity of a raging river.  It's really quite ridiculous.  I mean, okay...the idea of a clone isn't by any stretch the most original idea in gaming...or any media for that matter...but considering that Cerberus had access to genetic material from Shepard for two years, needed safeguards in case he decided to defy the Illusive Man's orders, and TIM's increasing delusional behavior, I don't think a clone is all that unusual or unacceptable a concept.

But, this is the BSN, after all.  Satisfaction is never achieved here for these folks, no matter what.

Unfortunately, Javik's special touching ability opened that can of worms day 1.  Genetic memory does exist in the MEU.

The Salarians also have some sort of cloning facilities, it's mention on that fetch quest in ME3 when you get the kakliosaur (or whatever it is) skull; the Salarian you turn it in to mentions them.

And read the tale by Dick. At no point was it shown he remebered all his life. He just thought he was the original.

The concept is there in SF, with mind back ups dowloaded to a cloned body. But the closer ME has come to this are Grey Boxes, and the process didn´t look neither complete (meaning the full personality and memories) neither reversible (downloading the memories to a brain). If it´s just a cloned body with a VI mind then it would fit ME lore, but this plot looks just silly. Reminds me of too many instances of bad examples.

And why bother? Wasn´t Leng bad dude enough?

I love Javik, but I hate how his memory sensing was explained.

Fake science (biotics and mass effect fields) I'll accept.  WRONG science?  Kill it with fire.
