I used to be a hardcore pcgamer, keep in mind they have a different mentality, which is totally fine but can lead them to miss some of things that console gamers generally value. I've played through this on my xbox and enjoyed it a great deal. The draw for me was using the controller, on my couch, on a huge HD tv. Yes, I could hook up my PC to the tv, and then deal with tiny text etc, all the issues that making pc gaming a pain when you're 10 feet away.

Lol. You could just use Xpadder to use the Xbox controller for the PC and play it on the big screen. The best of both worlds. ^_^

The game was designed for the PC (enter EA split develop everyone suffers)... I also remember BW saying this was "not" a make your own game game (NWN), strange how things change over time. An average PC of 2 to 3 years ago should run this game on full tilt. Myself, I am biased, I hate console gaming with a passion and have a clunky XBox 360 gathering dust in my wardrobe. After playing ME on console and then on PC there is no way in hell you'll ever convince me of console superiority. There are games designed for platforms for a reason. The comment on graphics being less stellar on the console is because of the shared memory issues of 256 or 512.

In the end, buy for what ever system is best for you. I just hate game companies that build games for consoles and palm them off with their shrunk down substandard game play and graphics to the PC (and yes, I have a 50 inch Pioneer Plasma HDTV, it is used to watch movies for the whole family to enjoy... seeing it cost more then 2 PCs)

the "lying on the bed and sitting on a couch" thing is getting old.

Just like the "games are being dumbed down for consoles" thing, huh?

Love these threads as they show most gamers have far too much spare time on their hands if all they can do is argue over PC v Console.  Lets not forget after we're done with that it goes onto console v console - genre v genre - dev v dev, then when we're done monging out over that, it game v game.

I've only played it on the 360, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but believe fervently that it would be better on the PC. My computer could almost certainly run it at max or near it but I currently have issues with it overheating...even with the side off.

Avoid the PS3 version at all costs. Much better experience on the PC.

The PC version should accept gamepads as controllers so pc gamers can play like console players do. -.^

Probably as sad as someone wasting their life getting their Daisy Dukes in a twist over such things?

PC has a mouse and keyboard, lots of quickslots for instant use of abilities, and the ability to explicitly control the movement of the entire party.

Most importantly, the PC has the toolset and the capability to play user made modules.

The last point alone is a good enough reason to get it on the PC and not a console.  I'm making modules and Add-Ins for Dragon Age on PC, and it seems that plenty of others are too.

Really? Now I would really wonder what about clumsier controls, worse graphics, less enemies on screen and complete lack of moddability makes gaming on consoles "win" over gaming on PC.
Humor me, please? :innocent:

Apart from, controls that aren't clumsy when you get used to them, graphix that are every bit as good as pc ( especially on a 52inch flatscreen HD TV ) and a lack of modability that doesn't bother me cos I'm as technically minded as a glass of water.......nothing realy screams " play this game on a pc " to me lol

I have the 360 version as my PC will not run this game and updating right now is not an option. Just know with the 360 version is the forgotten child. You will get no support, bare minimum of patches and will get no free content. I Like the game. Hell, I love it, but I know what to expect going into this. PC elitists just laugh at the console players like we are 2nd class citizens, so how do you think the developers feel about us?

Games like RPGs and strategy games (and imo even fps games) can't be played on a console at the same level of gaming experience you have on a PC... for other kinds of games, consoles are surely better (platform games, action games and such). You can't change it because of the input method (yes you can add a keyboard and mouse on some consoles, but devs build games for consoles with joypads in mind).

Installing most mods is as hard as dragging a file from a window to another. There's no need to be "technically minded"

Also, the graphics on console is notoriously worse than on PC, I'm afraid. A bigger screen doesn't really make it better, since the resolution is the same (I play on 1920x1080, which is exactly the Full HD resolution), just splashed over a bigger surface, that you need to look from far away not to destroy your eyesight. So in the end the perceived area is the same.

Far from it.  I don't laugh at console players.  I own a console myself, and I'm getting Mass Effect for 360 so I can play that on my big TV.

I just wasn't ever going to play DAO on a console because of the modding capability on the PC. (Though don't get me wrong, the better graphics and control system doesn't hurt either)

And that's where I have to stop you. Because on consoles you don't have the level of hacking, and illegal modding as you would in PC FPS. As for RPG's and RTS, yeah I totally agree they're better on PC for the sheer fact of mods. I'd rather not kick the crap out of some 10 year old on a FPS, and then end up having the lil bugger steal my account. No offense it's just rediculous. Anyway I think my reply towards you has gone off topic.

To the OP, I've only played DA on the 360, as my main computer went phoof. After I get a newer and more upgraded PC I'll definitely be checking out DA and ME2 on computer. Till then it's 360 all the way, with a dabble of Ps3. B)

Amen to that...especially with online games, it is so full of illegal hackers and modders it makes some games unplayable !!

DAO is definitely a game you want to buy on the PC if at all possible. It's nice that it is available on consoles as well (I would buy it for 360 if my PC couldn't run it) but the lack on controls, no top view camera mode, no player mods etc. just take away so much from the console versions.

Having played games for many years on pc and on console, after perseverance, I have found that I prefer control pad to mouse and keyboard to be honest :0)
